A Study on Fast Datum Transformation model for GIS (지리정보시스템을 위한 고속 측지계 변환 모델 연구)

  • This research focuses on the development of a fast datum transformation model to be used in GIS that utilizes real-time data transformation. Instance, when a GIS data constructed according to a datum is conformed to another datum, instead of transforming the axes of the original data, the data is transformed right before the results are reflected on the monitor. In this research, the prospects of calculating transformation parameters for every grid cells on the area based on two-dimensional conformal transformation model in order to decrease real-time datum transformation time while maintaining a high accuracy has been investigated. Research results showed that for a fixed area, the accuracies of the two-dimensional conformal transformation and the three-dimensional datum transformation, which requires more computing time, were almost equal and fast transformation speed, high accuracy real-time datum transformation is made feasible by implementing the grid-divided two-dimensional conformal transformation model.

Middle and High School Students' Mental Representation on Electric Circuits (중.고등학교 학생들의 전기 회로도에 관한 표상)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate how middle and high school students represent circuit diagrams with different shapes but electrically same. What prototypes of circuit which students possessed were, how students represented the connection of resistors, and what criteria used while grouping the circuit diagrams were investigated. The participants were 10 middle and 10 high school students. The results show that they represented the circuit diagrams by the geometrical resistor configurations rather than physics principles, not considering the presence of a junction or a battery on the branch. This representation was constrained by the circuit prototypes. Middle and High school students seems to have the own way of representing circuit diagrams without considering physics principles.

Comparing the Outplacement Programs for the Retiring Employees in Corporations (기업 퇴직근로자 전직지원프로그램 비교분석)

  • The purpose of the study was to compare the outplacement programs for the retiring employees in Korea corporations. We expect that this study will make contributions for increasing the quality of outplacement programs. We conducted the expert interviews and literature review and set a comparing criteria in terms of goal, target audience, program process and contents, operation process. We selected 6 different programs, which were KT, Samsung Electrounic, A consultancy firm specialized in outplacement, Korea labor foundation, and Korea international trade association. In results, we suggested the necessity of programs revision, the decrease of service recipient per a consultant, recommendation of alternative career path, and update of the programs for the service recipients who lacks of motivation. We also suggested that human resource department and chief executive officers made attentions for the outplacement programs as well as the government input more budget on the programs and consulting for the retirng employees.

Validation of Korean short version of the Big Five Questionnaire for children (한국어판 아동용 간편 5요인 성격질문지(K-BFQC-SF) 타당화 연구)

  • This study examined the reliability and validity of the Korean short version of the Big-Five Questionnaire for children, a instrument designed to measure Big-Five personality domains of elementary school students. The short Big-Five Questionnaire for children was composed of 15 items based on exploratory factor analyses on th data from 5th and 6th grade elementary school students(N=278). Confirmatory factor analyses revealed evidence of structural validity of the Korean short version BFQ-C. The correlations of K-BFQC-SF with the criteria of depression, academic achievement, career maturity were assessed to verify criterion-related validity. The correlation coefficients were correspondent to the results of previous studies. This study is meaningful in that it is sufficient to assess five factor personality domains in school settings.

  • If the existence and effect of the arbitration agreement becomes an issue in international business transactions, it is the key point how we shall determine the applicable law by national rules for the conflict of laws, or by other methods. The argument in determination of the applicable law to the existence and effect of the arbitration agreement is related to regal nature of the arbitration agreement. As there are foreign factors in international arbitration, therefore we must consider such an aspect. Besides, we have to examine whether the general theory of contract is universally applicable to the arbitration agreement. Currently, it is the general trend that the party's autonomy principle is applicable in determining the applicable law for the arbitration agreement. However, it is a difficult problem to recognize the applicable law chosen by the parties, whether it is based on any regal standard(for example New York Convention or the private international law or the essential quality of the arbitration agreement). In the light of the actual transactions, when the parties don't make a choice of the applicable law expressly, it will finally come down to presuming the party's implied intent. Nevertheless, finding the implied intent is a difficult problem. Some argue that we shall presume the choice of applicable law by an objective standard such as a place of arbitration, to prevent too much expansion of the scope of the recognition. But we need to review that this interpretation harmonizes with the principle of party autonomy. Especially, if we desire to detect the vital point where it is most closely linked to the arbitration agreement, we have to inquire how we will decide such a relation by means of any standard. However, as the existing Arbitration Act doesn't offer the solution to these issues, therefore we have to settle these problems through the development of adjudications and theories.

  • Internet accelerates the speed of Information society causing changes the method and purpose of education. The word "life-long learning" is no longer a new tenn for many of the world citizens, and they ask for a system to fulfill their need to learn. Information communication technology enables and provides technical base for such needs. Web based cyber education, especially, is known to be an important and alternative instructional method to mediate learning at a distance. At the present, however, with the breakneck pace of growth and interests on Web-based distance education, there are no guidelines provided to assure the quality. In this study, we have identified guiding principles to design and develop quality assurance model for effective distance education. This is critical, especially in Korea, since 9 distance. education institutions have been accredited to offer degree programs starting 2001 spring semester. Using this model, distance education providers and consumers can develop or select effective on-line courses.

  • The participants were 102 students with digital broadcasting and media major.. A hypothetical model proposed included learning flow, school support as predictors, and satisfaction and learning persistence as a criterion. The results of this study through multiple regression analysis indicated that learning flow and school flow predicted significantly on satisfaction. And school flow, school support, and satisfaction predicted significantly on learning persistence. In addition, satisfaction mediated between learning flow and learning persistence, and between school flow and learning persistence. A constructive foundation for providing learning strategies in the successful engineering education would be proposed on the basis of the current results of this study.

  • The value of Web in information societyis increasing in the field of education. Web Based Instruction (WBI) has an unlimited possibility of access the information. It also overcome the constraint of time and space more than the previous class learning method. The previous WBI system informed the results of study to learners after a professor's lecture and test was given. The uniform test didn't make the professor recognize the learner's evaluation according to the level of the learner and it couldn't be a reason to change a teaching method. In this paper, we discuss the Learning Evaluation(LE) component which can support a teaching method to teachers. We suggest LE component for supporting teachers as suggesting visually the test result of pre-test by step and post-test with several ways after analyzing, designing and realizing the evaluation of the test based on CDP(Component Development Process).

  • The objective of this paper is an implementation of analysing and predicting functions to promote self-directed learning for student's performance assessment system in programming subjects. By adapting Rubric model, the proposed functions inform a student of the assessment criteria and level to be carried out with respects to two-way specifications such as rational ability, problem solving ability and creativity. The proposed system also provides a graphical results of each ability instead of assessment result, for better understanding and analyzing himself/herself based on to the performance assessment and the result. Moreover, the proposed system contains a method to predict future achievement result with moving average technique. Therefore, an academic achievement can be precisely determined by himself/herself to estimate self-directed learning. The teacher can provide different level of educational resources such as supplement learning, problem explains and private instructor etc., in order to maximize efficiency of education.

A Study on Veblen Effect according to Residence Estate: Focused on Conspicuous Consumption (주거용부동산의 거주유형에 따른 베블런효과에 관한 연구: 과시소비성향을 중심으로)

  • Recently, middle and low social class entered in the upper class for the specific reasons and joined reference group in order to present demonstration effect. This phenomenon was assumed the consumer's desire for housing estate not from the leisure class. The superiority which feels belong to reference group, that was able to purchase high price product and the competence which can afford a high price goods are effective in housing estate. The study had been researched for Veblen effect according to residence estate. The partial least squares path modeling was used for Veblen effect affected by various psychological attributes, housing patterns and demographics for analysis. As a result, the conspicuous consumption from tenants was higher than residents, the social face sensitivity affected positively for self esteem and housing pattern, therefore, it caused conspicuous consumption. Moreover, we found conspicuous consumption had been increased followed by more spacious housing and higher income.
