Artificial Intelligence on Nursing: A Scoping Review (간호에서의 인공지능연구: 주제범위 문헌고찰)

  • This study is a scoping review to identify the research trend on the awareness and use of artificial intelligence in the nursing field in South Korea. The methodological framework of Arskey and O'Malley was used, and studies published from 2010 to 2023 were analyzed. A total of 20 studies were used in the final review, and most of the descriptive studies were published in academic journals. The most relevant variables in artificial intelligence research were related to clinical nursing, and the literature topics were artificial intelligence recognition and readiness for the use of artificial intelligence, nursing adaptation, and artificial intelligence-related nursing ethics. This study systematically analyzed the current status of artificial intelligence in the nursing field in Korea and suggested the direction of further research. This study propose follow-up research to develop the capacity to utilize artificial intelligence in Korea's nursing clinical and educational sectors and to support its effectiveness.

The Analysis of Research Trends in Korea on Nursing Informatics Competencies: A Scoping Review (간호정보역량 국내 연구동향 분석: 주제범위 문헌고찰)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify research trends related to nursing informatics competency and to present further directions. This study was scoping review designed and used methodological framework by Arksey and O'Mally. The reviewed study were found through electronic databases and published from January 2000 to December 2021. There were a total of 18 studies that were included in the analysis. The framework is comprised of evaluating the characteristics and the topic of research conducted. Research in regards to nursing informatics competency has increased after 2010, and quantitative research and research with nurses as the primary subject accounted for the majority of the studies performed. Factors that influenced the outcome for the nursing informatics competency were education, position, and key variables were work performance, self-leadership, job satisfaction, nursing work achievements, nursing organizational culture, and working environment. This research is significant that it systematically reviewed the nursing informatics competency and set a direction for further studies. In the further study, it is necessary to reflect changes in the health care system and nursing work environment and it is suggested to develop educational programs to improve nursing informatis competency for nurses and nursing students.

A scoping review on education on donning and doffing personal protective equipment to prevent healthcare-associated infections in Korea (국내 의료관련감염 예방을 위한 개인보호구 착·탈의 교육에 대한 주제범위 문헌고찰)

  • The purpose of this study is to supply evidences through scoping review of educational intervention studies for donning and doffing PPE to prevent healthcare-associated infection provided to nurses and student nurses in Korea. Through the search engines RISS, KISS, and DBpia, 12 articles were chosen by searching through theses and journals which were published before May 1, 2024. According to the study result, relevant studies were 12, and the education programs provided to donning and doffing PPE to prevent healthcare-associated infection were classified into 1) simulation based education, 2) video and practice based education, and 3) non-contact education. Knowledge, performance confidence, self-efficacy, performance, attitude, and awareness were confirmed as effects of the intervention. Based on the results of this study, there is necessity to develop more diverse teaching and learning methods and evaluation methods for donning and doffing PPE that can prevent healthcare-associated infection in infectious disease and emerging infectious disease situations, and repeatedly conduct research on educational intervention for donning and doffing PPE.

A Scoping Review on Educational Programs Provided to Kidney Transplant Patients in Korea (국내 신장이식 환자에게 제공된 교육 프로그램에 대한 주제범위 문헌고찰)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide evidences throught scoping review of education intervention studies for post kidney transplantation management in the kidney transplant patients in Korea. Through the search engines RISS, KISS, DB pia and Pubmed, 13 articles were selected by searching for theses and academic journals published prior to the search date of May 21, 2023. According to the study result, relevant studies were 13, and the education programs provided to kidney transplant patients were classified into 1) overall health management after transplantation, 2) self-efficacy promotion exercise program, 3) exercise therapy, 4) drug education, and 5) stress coping. Knowledge, implementation, self-efficacy, anxiety, uncertainty, stress, and quality of life were confirmed as effects of the intervention. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop integrated educational materials and systematic self-management programs that can manage various health problems that may occur after kidney transplantation, and it is suggeste that research on educational interventions for kidney transplant patients in nursing.

Domestic Research Trend of AI Education Program: A Scoping Review (국내 AI 교육 프로그램 연구동향 분석: 주제범위 문헌고찰 방법론을 적용하여)

  • AI education is being emphasized nationwide as a literacy education. At this point, it is necessary to identify critical issues and suggest the direction of future research by examining domestic AI education research trends. To this end, the study applied the scoping review method. A total of 29 AI educational studies from 2017 to 2020 in South Korea were analyzed. As a result, it was confirmed that the number of studies increased rapidly in 2020, and a large proportion of studies targeted elementary school students. In addition, the study found that AI principles were treated as contents at a high rate, both cognitive and affective aspects were frequently reported as a learning outcome, and various practice environments were used relatively evenly. Based on the results, the direction of future research was discussed and suggested.

Research Trends in integrated Community Care Systems: A Scoping review (지역사회 통합돌봄 제도 연구 동향 분석: 주제 범위 문헌 고찰)

  • This study was conducted to identify research trends on the integrated community care system in Korea and suggest future research directions. The scoping review method was conducted according to the JBI methodological guidelines. A literature search was conducted in 5 databases (RISS, DBpia, NDSL, KISS, NAL), and 34 papers were selected for the final analysis. The analysis was categorized into user and provider aspects related to community care, and the results from the user aspect showed that variables related to service satisfaction and physical health status were used the most and showed positive results. Provider aspect results mainly studied problems and improvements due to service provision, and many studies showed the need to revitalize inter-agency collaboration systems and the lack of manpower to perform services. Based on the results of this study, in the future expansion of the integrated community care system, it will be necessary to not only establish criteria for selecting subjects, but also secure the expertise of service providers, establish a collaboration system between regions and institutions, and prepare measures to resolve service differences.

  • This study explored the environmental health behavior intervention study for pregnant women using a scoping review. The evidence synthesis of intervention methods, research topics, outcome variables, and effectiveness was performed. Eight studies were extracted from the databases of PubMed, Cochrane Library, and RISS. The topics were nutritional interventions and behavioral interventions that can reduce exposure to fine dust, heavy metals, chemicals, and electromagnetic waves to pregnant women. The interventions were conducted through lectures, cartoons, workshops, interviews, messages, and home visits. The effect of the intervention was found to improve the health behaviors of pregnant women and to solve problems in the residential environment. Therefore, the environmental health behavior interventions for pregnant women were effective.

The Competency in Disaster Nursing of Korean Nurses: Scoping Review (국내 간호사의 재난간호 역량: 주제범위 문헌고찰)

  • Purpose: The aim of study was to identify ranges of Korean nurses' competency in disaster nursing. Methods: A scoping review was conducted using the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology. The review used information from four databases: RISS, ScienceON, EBSCO Discovery Service, and CINAHL. In this review, key words were 'disaster', 'nurs*', 'competenc*', 'ability' and 'preparedness'. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were identified as strategies to use in this review. The inclusion criteria for this review focused on the following: Korean nurse, articles related to disaster nursing competency, peer-review articles published in the full text in Korean and English. Review articles were excluded. Results: Nineteen studies were eligible for result extraction. A total of 10 categories of disaster nursing competency were identified: Knowledge of disaster nursing, crisis management, disaster preparation, information collection and sharing, nursing record and document management, communication, disaster plan, nursing activities in disaster response, infection management, and chemical, biological, radiation, nuclear, and explosive management. Conclusion: It is necessary to distinguish between Korean nurses' common disaster nursing competency, professional disaster nursing competency, and disaster nursing competency required in nursing practice. Therefore, future research will be needed to explore and describe disaster nursing competency.

An analysis of research trend on infection control in dental hygiene: a scoping review (치위생 분야의 감염관리 관련 국내 연구동향 분석: 주제범위 문헌고찰)

  • Objectives: This study analyzed a total of 30 domestic research trends related to dental infection control from 2013 to 2022. Methods: Two researchers analyzed the research question, "What are the research trends on infection control in dental hygiene at dental clinics and dental hygiene education institutions?" The selected literature was classified according to the research subject and the purpose of the study. Results: The study sample comprised 63% dental hygienists, 30% dental hygiene students, and 7% dental workers. The research topics on dental infection control were classified into knowledge, awareness, practice, infection control education, clinic environment, and infection control personnel. The largest proportion of research on dental infection control were about awareness and practice of infection control (69%). Clinic environment, knowledge, infection control education, and infection control personnel appeared in order. Conclusions: It is believed that this can be used as a reference material to present the direction of research design for researchers studying in infection control in the field of dental hygiene in the future.

Psychosocial Impacts of Newborn Bloodspot Screening on Parents: A Scoping Review (신생아 스크리닝이 부모에게 미치는 사회심리적 영향: 주제범위 문헌고찰)

  • This study synthesized the literature to identify parental psychosocial impact and related factors on newborn bloodspot screening (NBS) process. A scoping review, using the framework proposed by Arksey and O'Malley (2005), was conducted. A literature search was performed of electronic databases (PubMed, CINAHL, RISS, KISS, DBpia) from 2000 to 2023. In total 749 published articles were identified, and 32 articles were included for the final analysis. Almost studies were descriptive studies using survey or interviews and only one intervention study to reduce negative psychosocial impacts was identified. Parents were experiencing negative psychosocial impacts, particularly related to how positive results were initially communicated and had difficulties accessing timely and reliable information. Findings identified that knowledge, quality and satisfaction of education and communication, information sources and providers as related factors of parental psychosocial impacts. Prenatal and postpartum repeated education, providing timely and reliable information, effective communication between health care providers and parents were key to mitigate negative psychosocial impacts. Nurses can play important roles to improve quality on NBS.
