  • The purpose of this study is to investigate and evaluate the characteristics of information consumption between rural and urban residents. In this study, the data were collected through a survey and in-depth interview consisting of 121 information consumption questions for the residents of 15 cities and rural areas located in Jilin Province, China, and 985 effective responses were analyzed using SPSS 23.0. Analysis of information consumption characteristics by age, type of household and gender for urban and rural residents showed that there was a large interaction between age and gender, age and type of household, type of household and gender. This study can contribute to narrowing the information service gap between urban and rural residents and utilizing the potential of information consumption. The study is limited to analyzing only residents of Jilin Province in China and needs to expand the scope of future investigations.

  • This research is conducted through a qualitative methodology, and it aimed for understanding of the generalized structure of getting-together experiences from South Korean who had conversations with North Korean refugees for a long term. As a result, the study, which includes the experiences along with consideration of both contexts and timeline, shows that 'One Korean but divided into South and North', 'Synthesize of water and oil', 'Different from us', 'Understand relativism and deal with it', 'Limitation as an one race: Living different ways on a peninsula' and 'Parallel horizons: Heading to vanishing point' are the key concepts. By understanding these keys, it was able to figure out how their consciousness and acts have been developed in a long term perspective, and thus, we suggest alternative solutions that can be practiced by social workers.

  • This study aims to investigate the factors influencing the life satisfaction of North Korean defectors in the ongoing situation of difficulties. Specifically, it examines the impact of the digital informatization level, and social capital on their life satisfaction and aims to verify the mediating effect of social capital in the relationship between the digital informatization level and life satisfaction. To achieve this, a structural equation model was utilized to validate the research model using data from 679 North Korean defectors who participated in the 2021 Report on the digital Divide. The research results confirm the direct influence of the digital informatization level and social capital of North Korean defectors on life satisfaction. Additionally, the study identifies the mediating effect of social capital in the relationship between the digital informatization level and life satisfaction. Based on these research findings, recommendations are proposed for enhancing the life satisfaction of North Korean defectors.

  • The purpose of this study Is to identify factors for library space programs through user needs assessments in order to apply a library construction. Research method used was a questionnaire and subjects were residents and library users lived in Yongin where a new library was constructing. The results show that library use behavior, age, and user companions are identified as factors to influence to both functional space ratio and functional space arrangement. Heading in libraries is major activity and many subjects went to library with family so that family space is needed. Space for variable ages, also, is needed because of different needs based upon ages.

  • This study is a study to secure accessibility in isolated, neglected and underdeveloped island areas. Theoretically explored ways to utilize UAM(Urban Air Mobility), which has recently attracted attention. This is a study for the important accessibility that is connected to the basic life of island residents. In particular, sufficient preparation time is needed, such as the selection of topics necessary for the change of the transportation service system for access to the island area, the public debate process, and the trial service period. Therefore, the secondary purpose of this study is to provide relevant basic data.

  • Siting a nuclear waste facility in a specific area, the public show some different attitudes for newly suggested nuclear facility as a function of distance from the existing facilities, namely 'Doughnut Effect'. This Doughnuts Effect indicates not only indirect public assessment for the existing facilities, but transition of public attitude between socio-economic expectation and risk perception. Ulchin area was selected as a case study model and the possibility to success in siting a nuclear waste facility in that area was shown. Thus, availability of the 'Doughnut effect'as a prestudy for siting radioactive waste disposal facilities was practically suggested.

  • Currently, urban regeneration is carried out mostly in a permanent and fixed way of planning, and due to the nature of the master plan, it is limited to immediately accepting the opinions of residents. In this study, the factors of idle space were derived based on a temporary use strategy, and the direction of idle space was presented by comparing the importance of experts with the survey of residents' perceptions and preferences. As a result, residents preferred to improve the aging physical environment first because of the target location characteristics, while experts ranked it in line to reflect the importance of the use of temporary uses that can quickly improve the urban environment. Therefore, it is desirable to recognize the importance of the temporary use strategy and to refine the priorities of the two groups and conduct a temporary test to derive the optimal utilization measures and reflect them in the master plan. In order to implement a temporary use strategy in the future, it is necessary to present a space utilization plan that reflects detailed prior investigation through analysis of target location characteristics and usage patterns.

  • This study aims to analyze factors affecting villagers' participation in conservation of village woodlands. We postulated that socio-economic characteristics such as gender, age, place of birth, wealth level, frequency of use and leader experience could contribute to decision-making of participation in the village woodland conservation. Data were collected by interviewing 52 villagers in village A and 41 villagers in village B and were used to estimate the probability function of villager's participation in village woodland conservation using ordered logit model. The results indicate that frequent use of village woodlands increases the probability of villagers' participation in conservation of village woodlands in the case of village A. In the case of village B, people who were born in the village and have experiences of serving the village as a village leader are more likely to participate in the village woodland conservation activities. Considering the fact that the village woodland of village A is owned by the community as a village common, and that cultural activities remain in the village woodland of village A, the utility of village woodlands to the residents and their common understanding of village woodlands seem to influence the likelihood of villagers' participation in conservation of village woodlands. In order to induce villagers' participation in the village woodland conservation, it is necessary to recognize the right of villager's access and provide villagers with common understanding of village woodlands through cultural activities and education programs.
