Scattering phenomena of TE polarization on a periodic strip grating over a grounded dielectric slab (접지된 유전체 위의 주기적 스트립 격자구조에서 TE편파의 산란현상)

  • A theoretical method for the TE polarized electromagnetic scattering on a periodic strip grating over a grounded dielectric slab is considered. The numerical results for an analysis of the plane wave scattering from the structure are presented such as normalized mode amplitude and relative reflected power against normalized dielectric slab height, relative reflected power against angle of incidence and distribution of strip current density. Detailed discussions on the Bragg blazing phenomena observed in the geometry are give.

  • In this study, using a coplanar waveguide employing Periodic Strip Structure (PSS), highly miniaturized on-chip wilkinson power divider was realized on Si radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC). The wilkinson power divider exhibited good RF performances from 25 to 50 GHz, and its size was $0.44{\times}0.1mm^2$, which is 4.8 % of conventional one. We also investigated the RF performances of various structures employing PSS.

  • The use of microstrip is very common for various passive microwave devices because of the rather simple and planar structure. However, many microstrip devices require fairly large surface areas, which results in real estate problems of finite substrates. In this paper, we proposed a perforated microstrip with longitudinal slow-wave effect and characterized experimentally and theoretically. The impedance matching to the reference impedance(50 $\Omega$) and the quality factor are greatly improved compared to the conventional slow-wave structure with modulated strip. Because of the structural simplicity, it can be easily applied to miniaturize many microstrip devices.

  • In this paper, short-wavelength transmission line employing periodically arrayed capacitive devices (PACD) structures were developed for application to a development of miniaturized on-chip passive components on GaAs monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC). The transmission line employing PACD structure showed a wavelength much shorter than conventional microstrip line. Concretely, the wavelength of the transmission line employing PACD structure was 8 % of the conventional microstrip line on GaAs substrate at 5GHz. And It was 38% of the microstrip line employing PPGM at 5GHz. It was recognized that the basic characteristics of the transmission line employing PACD structure were investigated for application to the miniaturized passive on-chip components.

  • 접지된 유전체슬랩 위에 주기적으로 스트립이 놓여있는 격자구조에 대한 전자파 산란현상을 반사격자(reflection grating) 관점과 누설파안테나(leaky wave antenna) 관점에서 조사하였다. 수치해석 결과로 입사파의 편파에 무관한 Bragg blazing 현실과 동시에 Bragg 및 off-Bragg blazing 현상이 확인되는 경우를 조사하였으며 그 특성(복소전파상수, 복사패턴, 산란특성)에 대하여 논의하였다.

  • 접지된 유전체층 위에 위치한 스트립 격자구조에 TM 편파된 입사파가 입사할 경우 전자기 산란문제를 특성 모드 이론으로 해석하였다. 몇 개의 특성 모드전류로부터 원거리 산란패턴을 구하여 blazing 현상과 같은 산란특성과 특성모드 패턴과의 연관성을 관찰하고, 기존의 결과들과 비교하여 특성모드 해석방법의 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • Diffraction anomalies in the periodic strip grating over a grounded dielectric layer are investigated for the plane wave incidence case of both arbitrary(oblique) incidence angle and arbitrary polarization by use of the spectral domain method combined with the sampling theorem. Some numerical results for the Bragg and Off-Bragg blazing phenomena for the cases of arbitrary incidence angle and polarization as well as TE and TM polarization are presented along with discussions on those phenomena.

  • The electromagnetic scattering characteristics by a periodic strip grating on a grounded dielectric slab for TE polarization case is examined from the viewpoints of both the reflection grating and the leaky wave antenna problems. Numerical results for two kinds of Bragg blazing (resonance type and non-resonance type) phenomena are given and some discussions on the properties such as complex propagation constants, scattering characteristics, and distributions of strip current density are presented.

  • This paper presents a design methodology of bandpass filter by using defect modes in photonic bandgap (PBG) structures. PBG structures are realized with alternating section of microstrip line arranged in a periodical manner. A passband is created within the stopband of PBG structures with defect modes, which can be generated by changing the period of certain part of PBG structure. We also extract a simple equivalent circuit of a bandstop filter by using several LC sections.

  • In this study, a short-wavelength transmission line employing periodically arrayed capacitive devices (PACD) was studied for application to miniaturized on-chip passive component on monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC). The transmission line employing PACD showed shorter wavelength and lower characteristic impedance than conventional microstrip transmission line. The wavelength transmission line employing PACD structure was 8% of the conventional microstrip transmission line on GaAs substrate. Using the theoretical analysis, basic characteristic of the transmission line employing PACD (e.g., loss, effective dielectric constant, effective propagation constant, bandwidth ) were also investigated in order to evaluate its suitability for application to a development of miniaturized passive on-chip components on MMIC. Above results indicate that the transmission line employing PACD is a promising candidate for a development of miniaturized passive components on MMIC.
