Sex Workers' Satisfaction and Intention to Use Sexually Transmitted Disease Examination Service in Korea (성병검진서비스에 대한 성매매 종사자의 만족도와 이용의도)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to examine how sex workers perceive the current STD examination service and how the perceptions are related with sex workers' intention to use the service. Methods: The data for this study came from a survey among sex workers who had an experience of using STD examination service provided by local public health centers. Sex workers' perceptions to STD examination service and their intention to use the service were measured with multiple items adapted from the Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire (PSQ) developed by Ware and his colleagues. Results: Most sex workers are satisfied with the current STD examination service provided by local public health centers and they have a strong intention to use the service. In predicting general satisfaction and intention to use STD examination service, few socioeconomic variables play a significant role. Among specific dimensions of STD test service, technical quality and accessibility of the service affect both general satisfaction and intention to use the service in a positive direction. The most important determinant of sex workers' intention to use STD examination service is their general satisfaction with the service. Conclusion: With the existing laws that still officially justify STD examination programs, the demand and need for STD examination service by sex workers further the current STD examination programs. Health authorities which aim at health maintenance, health promotion and health protection for the people, thus, need to continue their STD control programs actively and effectively regardless of the Special Law on Sex Trade.

Impact of Personal Health Information Security Awareness on Convenience (개인의료정보보안인식이 편의성에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of the research is that how awareness of importance of personal medical data, laws regarding personal medical data and perception gap regarding information of medical data system may affect usage of hospital convenience between a regular patient who has experienced hospital service and medical professionals. Preceding research analysis was conducted previous on establishing research model; 150 questionnaires to a regular patient and 150 questionnaires for a medical professional, total of 300 questionnaires were gathered for conducting a question investigation. First of all, the research concluded that there are a regular perception differences between a regular patient and medical professional. Moreover, there are perception differences among the different gender, age, and area of residence. Furthermore, medical professionals tend to consider that convenience of hospital usage will be increased if user strengthens recognition of security of personal medical data. Results of hypothesis stress that higher awareness of exposure of personal medical data and medical information system affect decision making convenience for a better usage of hospital. On the other side, awareness of laws related with personal medical information security does not affect decision making convenience of hospital usage and transaction. The results of the research analyzes with proof that strengthening awareness of personal medical data security positively increase convenience of decision making and transactions in selection of provided medical service.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the awareness of health care workers on the protection of patient health information and their practice of it in an attempt to provide some information on the policy setting of health care institutions about medical information protection. As a result, the awareness of the health care workers on the protection of patient health information and their practice of it were both the best in the communication area, followed by the patient health information management area and the area of direct contact with health information. As for the variables linked to their awareness and practice of patient health information protection, the type of the health care institutions, job satisfaction, religion and the departments in which they worked were significantly related. To determine what factors affected the patient health information management area, a multiple regression analysis was carried out by selecting the area of direct contact with patient health information and the communication area as independent variables and by selecting the patient health information management area as a dependent variable. And it's found that the patient health information management area became better when the area of direct contact with the information and the communication area were better.

A Study on the Life Recognition of Retired Seafarers (해기직업 은퇴 생활자의 인식도 연구)

  • This study aims to inform seafarers to prepare their retired life by researching the life style of ex-seafarers. These information will also help seafarers to increase job satisfaction and government to establish national policy. 217 retirees who have several educational background responded the research questionnaire. Research results are as follows; First, Korean seafarers' retired ages are faster than shore employee due to the isolation from their families and society. Second, life satisfaction of retired seafarers depends on the level of life expenses regardless the educational background or length of sea life. Third, the level of retired life expenses of shore based, higher education background or short sea-life seafarers is higher than the sea based, lower education background or long sea-life seafarers. Forth, life style of retired seafarers is staying at home regardless their expectation during career period. Finally special seafarers' social security is needed and education to the ex-seafarers will help re-enter for sea-life.

The Relationships among Work Stress, Burnout, and Turnover Intentions of Child Welfare Employees (아동복지 종사자들의 직무 스트레스 요인, 소진 및 이직의도의 관계)

  • This study examined the direct or indirect effects through burnout of sources of work stress of child welfare employees on turnover intentions. In addition, the study investigated the moderating effects of stress coping resources, which was hypothesized to buffer the negative effects of the sources of work stress on burnout. The study data were collected from 190 social workers in foster care services and child protective services. As a statistical method, structural equation model was employed. The study results showed that sources of work stress affect indirectly though raising the level of burnout. The study did not find the moderating effects of stress coping resources. Based on the results, implications for child welfare practice were discussed.

  • The subjects of following research were 663 medical practitioners working at hospitals or bigger sized medical facilities in Pusan. Among the entire research subjects, it was shown that medical practitioners are notably and positively affected when their supervisors' type of leadership was either servant leadership or transformational leadership. The types of leaderships of supervisors that are recognized by medical practitioners were transformational leadership, transactional leadership, servant leadership. The effect of supervisors' leadership according to different type of role are as following. Under the circumstance of no personal and controlled variables, the each group of different medical occupants showed notable positive effects. Nurses corresponded to transformational leaderships, while admission and discharge corresponded to servant leadership. At the same time, medical technicians were most effected by both servant and transformational leadership.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of organizational conflict stages and job withdrawal intention of information security organizations. We applied Pondy's conflict theory and analyzed the case of information security workers in public enterprises. We found that the more information security workers emotionally accept the potential factors of organizational conflict, the higher the intention of job change of information security practitioner. On the other hand, the perception mechanism has a moderating effect of lowering the job change-out probability. The result of this study is expected that the manager of the organization will be able to utilize the conflict in the organizational direction.

Development of a Perception of Importance on Patient Safety Management Scale (PI-PSM)for Hospital Employee (병원 의료종사자의 환자안전관리 중요성 인식 측정도구 개발)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a perception of importance on patient safety management scale (PI-PSM) for Hospital Employee. The PI-PSM was developed and vallidated as follows: item generation, vertification of content validity, pilot study, and test of validity and reliability. In order to verify preliminary instrument, data was collected from 280 hospital employees. Data were analyzed by Varimax factor analysis and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$. There were 21 items in final instrument categorized into 4 factors as 'concern about patient safety management (7 items)', 'confidence about patient safety management (5 items)', 'will for patient safety management (5 items)', and 'recognition about patient safety management (4 items)'. The total varience explanined was 60.4%. The internal consistency, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$. was .86, and reliability of the sucscales ranged from .69 to .87. The results of this study may useful to assess the perception of importance on patient safety management.

Factors Influencing Mental Care Facility Workers' Rights Guarantee for People with Mental Disorder (정신요양시설 종사자의 정신장애인에 대한 권리보장 영향요인)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors affecting the rights guarantee of people with mental illness among mental care facility workers. The subjects of this study were 132 mental care facility workers, and the research tools were rights and protection-related characteristics, rights recognition, and rights guarantee. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple linear regression using the SPSS/WIN 24.0 program. The result showed that the difference in rights guarantee relating to general characteristics were significant differences in religion. There were significant positive correlations among rights recognition and rights guarantee. The factors influencing the rights guarantee were rights recognition, recognizing the need to advocate rights, and religion. Based on the research results, it is necessary to improve recognition and actively advocate rights through continuous education in order to strengthen the rights guarantee of people with mental illness. Enhancement of rights guarantee will help people with mental disorder recover.

An Analysis of Cognizance about and Participation Factors of the Social Welfare labor Union : Centering around Social Welfare Workers (사회복지노동조합에 대한 인식 및 참여요인 분석 : 사회복지종사자를 중심으로)

  • This study seeks the countermeasures for the successful organization of the social welfare labor union after examining social welfare workers' cognizance about a labor union and analyzing the major factors affecting their participation in a labor union. An analysis of social welfare workers' cognizance about the social welfare labor union. demonstrates that (1) most social welfare workers have positive opinions about a labor union organization and the participation in a labor union, (2) a great part of workers prefer forming a labor union and a professional organization together in relation to the organization of social welfare workers, and (3) the effective strategies for the organization of a labor union are in the order of the uplift of social welfare workers' consciousness, the constitution of the basic organizations which propel the formation of a labor union, and the preparation of policy countermeasures which attain the supports of clients and citizens. An analysis of factors affecting the participation in a labor union shows that the attitude toward the participation behavior (positive results), subjective norm (specific individuals), subjective norm (social constituent members), and perceived behavior control in the analysis model, male, lower position in officers, and lower educational attainment in democratic characteristics, and lower democratic and professional managements in officers and longer working hours in labor environmental conditions affect positively the participation in a labor union. These results suggest several assignments for the successful organization of the social welfare labor union. First the activities that make social welfare workers recognize the beneficial results bringing about by the participation in a labor union need to be carried out, second strategies that persuade the influential individuals to supports the participation in a labor union need to be developed, third activities that make the social constituent members understand the ethical, professional, and non-productive characteristics of social service works not to be confronted with the organization of a labor union should be pursued, fourth the organizational environments in which social welfare workers can freely participate in a labor union according to their intentions need to be made up, fifth the policy countermeasures which attain the support of social welfare workers, clients and citizens should be developed and carried out, and finally the basic organizations that effectively propel the formation of a labor union need to be constituted.
