Korean white pine (Pinus koraiensis Sieb. & Zucc.), native to Korea and currently the most important timber species in Korea is being threatened by a blister rust discase caused by a Cronartium species. The fungus has been tentatively identified as Cronartium ribicola Fischer. The fungus alternates between P. koraiensis and Pedicularis resupinata L. (a herbaceous perennial) under natural conditions in Korea although experimentally it has been shown to infect several Ribes species. The taxonomic diagnosis of the causal fungus is not fully resolved. A review of the status of this rust disease on P. koraiensis and other possible hosts in Korea and its potential international significance along with present work underway in Korea is discussed.
This study was carried out for appreciable information on the proper habitats and feeding modes of some dominant polychaetes in the continental shelf of the East Sea during April, 1985. Among 95 polychaete species, we select ed 9 dominant species in terms of their occurring frequency, abundance and population density. These are Terebellides stroemi, Chaetozone setosa, Magelona japonica, Ampharete arctica, Aglaophamus sinensis, Nothria holobranchiata, Lumbrineris japonica, Myriochele gracilis, Notoproctus pacificus. Major food item s of these species are centric diatoms and detritus. The feeding modes of the the m are mainly surtace or subsurface deposit feeding, though two specters, M.holobranchiata and L. japonica, could be assumed to be potential carnivores. To a certain degree, most deposit feeders in the coarse sediments showed selectivity in feeding and tube building. The feeding mode, gut content and the tube structure, and the distribution pattern of dominant polychaetes correspond well with the habitat tharacters, e.g.the bottom topography, the source of food and the sediment composition.
This paper describes the design and fabrication of a BUC(Block Up-converter) which is a component of a FST (Flyaway Satellite Terminal), one of the ET(Earth Terminal) of the military satellite. BUC is physically composed of an up-converter module, a high power amplifier module, a receive band suppression filter, a housing, and a cable assembly. It was designed using simulator AWR to satisfy the electrical characteristics of BUC's such as maximum output power, gain, unwanted signal, and intermodulation. The maximum output power and gain characteristics were measured at 43.4dBm and 51.8dB, respectively. The unwanted wave and intermodulation characteristics were -73.5dBc and -31.9dBc, respectively. Of the electrical requirements of Table 1, not only the above four but also all of the items were confirmed to be satisfied.
This paper describes the design and fabrication of a LNB(Low Noise Block downd-converter) which is a component of a FST(Flyaway Satellite Terminal), one of the ET(Earth Terminal) of the military satellite. LNB is physically composed of an down-converter module, a low noise amplifier module, a transmit band suppression filter, a isolator, a housing, and a cable assembly. It was designed using simulator (AWR) to satisfy the electrical characteristics of LNB's such as gain, noise figure and unwanted signal. The gain and noise figure characteristics were measured at 61.4dBm and 1.37dB, respectively. The unwanted wave was measured at -66.79dBc. Of the electrical requirements of Table 1, not only the above three but also all other items were confirmed to be satisfied.
An AddSIM(Adaptive distributed and parallel Simulation environment for Interoperable and reusable Models) is developed to construct a composite environment that can be used in the overall stage from military demand analysis to test and evaluation. In addition, a base system model(BSM), which is a component model of the weapon system with standardized hierarchies, has been developed. This paper describes the critical design of BSM for the guided weapon system that can be operated in AddSIM. The guided weapon system BSM is designed for reusability and interoperability, and to have the same interface for assembly, even if the subcomponents have different resolution. Then, each subcomponent is defined and implemented according to the component resolution classification scheme. Finally, Combinations of subcomponents have been used to construct the guided weapon system of various resolution and the performance is compared and analyzed through simulation.
The multi-configurative microscopic system for inspecting the wire-bonding of reed frame is designed. Rays refracted by objective lens group which is composed of common lens group of x2 and x6 are splitted by beam-splitter, and Rays through the central region and the boundary region of the object imaged at x2 and x6 through imaging lens groups, respectively. The depth of wire structure on the reed frame has about $\pm$3 mm, in order to observe by uniform magnification without the dependency on the variation of objective distance generated by the depth of wire structure on the reed frame, imaging lens groups should be moved on nonlinear locus like mechanically compensated zoom lenses. The nonlinear equations for zoom locus are derived by using the Gaussian bracket. Refraction powers and positions of each groups are numerically determined by solving the equations, and initial design data for each groups is obtained by using Seidel third order aberration theory. The optimization technique is finally utilized to obtain this microscopic system.
Recently, IoT technology has great attention and plays a key role in 4th industrial revolution in order to design customized products and services. Additive Manufacturing (AM) is applied to fabricate IoT sensor directly or IoT sensor embedded structure. Also, design methods for AM are developing to consolidate various parts of IoT devices. Part consolidation leads to assembly time and cost reduction, reliability improvement, and lightweight. Therefore, a design method was proposed to guide designers to consolidate parts. The design method helps designers to define product architecture that consists of functions and function-part relations. The product architecture is converted to a network graph and then Girvan Newman algorithm is applied to cluster the graph network. Parts in clusters are candidates for part consolidation. To demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed design method, a case study was performed with e-bike fabricated by additive manufacturing.

This paper describes a case study on an enterprise ontology(30) based analysis and representation of the production operation in shipbuilding. The production operation consists of steel fabrication, assembly, election, launching, sea trial and delivery process. We represent and analyze the steel fabrication process and the piping design business of the assembly process among them. First, we build an ontology on concepts of steel fabrication process and the piping design business of assembly process. And then we merge it with the original EO. We represent each process and analyze current state of production process with the merged EO and $Prot{\acute{e}}g{\acute{e}}$ plug-ins. Moreover, we can analyze dependency relations among the workflow elements. Through the case study, we have found the effectiveness of EO in business management and process management in complex heavy industries.
The Middle Jurassic granite dike swarm intruding into the Paleoproterozoic banded gneiss is pervasively observed in Ueumdo, Hwaseong City, mid-western Gyeonggi Massif. Based on their cross-cutting relationships in a representative outcrop, there are four dikes (UE-A, UE-C, UE-D, UE-E), and depending on the direction, there are three granite dike groups, which are NW- (UE-A dike), NW to WNW- (UE-C dike), and NE-trending (UE-D and UE-E dikes). These granite dikes are massive, medium-to coarse-grained biotite granites, and their relative ages observed in outcrops are in the order of UE-A, UE-D (=UE-E), and UE-C. The geometric analysis of the dikes indicates that the UE-A and UE-C dikes intrude under approximately NE-SW trending horizontal minimum stress fields. The UE-A dike, which showed a relatively low average SiO2 content by major element analysis, is a product of early magma differentiation compared to other dikes; therefore, it is consistent with the relative age of each dike. The 206Pb/238U weighted mean ages for each dike obtained from SHRIMP zircon U-Pb dating were calculated to be 167 Ma (UE-A), 164 Ma (UE-C), 167 Ma (UE-D), and 167 Ma (UE-E), respectively. The samples of the UE-A, UE-D, and UE-E dikes showed very similar ages. The UE-C dike shows the youngest age, which is consistent with the results of the relative age in the outcrops and major element analysis. Therefore, the granite dikes intruded into the Middle Jurassic (approximately 167 and 164 Ma), coinciding with those of the Gyeonggi Massif, where the Middle Jurassic plutons are geographically widely distributed. This result indicates that the wide occurrence of the Middle Jurassic plutons on the Gyeonggi Massif was formed as a result of igneous activity moving in the northwest direction with the shallower subduction angle of the subducting oceanic plate during the Jurassic.

The Cretaceous Duwon Formation was studied on the basis of sedimentologic analysis in order to unravel geologic conditions for the development of the streamflow-dominated alluvial fan under arid to semi-arid climatic conditions. The Duwon Formation unconformably overlies the Paleoproterozoic gneiss (basement). Based on the sedimentologic analysis, the Duwon Formation is interpreted to have been deposited in gravelly braided stream (FA-1) near the basement, laterally transitional to sandy braided stream (FA-2) and floodplain environments (FA-3) with distance (< 7 km) from the basement. Lateral changes in sedimentary facies and the well development of calcrete nodules in FA-3, together with radial paleocurrent directions measured in FA-1, are suggestive of the deposition of the Duwon Formation in streamflow-dominated alluvial fan under arid to semi-arid climatic conditions. Recent analysis of detrital zircon chronology suggests that sediments of the Duwon Formation were derived from the southwestern part of the Korean peninsula, including the western part of Yeongnam Massif and the southwestern part of Okcheon Belt. This implies the alluvial fan where the Duwon Formation accumulated had the large drainage basin. Because the large drainage basin can supply the significant amounts of water and temporarily store the sediments within the basin, watery floodwater carried sediments to the alluvial fan rather than the debris flows. Furthermore, the drainage basin largely composed of coarse-grained metamorphic and igneous rocks produced sand-grade sediments, preventing evolution of floodwater into debris flows. We suggest that combined effects of the large drainage basin and its coarse-grained metamorphic and igneous rocks provided favorable conditions for the development of streamflow-dominated alluvial fan, despite arid to semi-arid climatic conditions during sedimentation.
