A Study on the Spatiotemporal Interpretation of Derek Jarman's Garden (데릭 저먼의 정원에 대한 시공간적(時空間的) 해석)

  • This study looks at spatiotemporal theories regarding the pluralism of time inherent in garden space, and attempts to establish spatiotemporal theories suitable for garden spaces. Based on the established theories, this study analyzes the intimacy of garden spaces by focusing on the objective and subjective time of garden spaces in Derek Jarman's garden through a literature review. The sense of time inherent to a garden space was divided into objective and subjective time. The former refers to ecological time that is quantified and has durability, while the latter indicates time that changes according to the consciousness of the human subject. It also includes time that is emotionalized by the sense of the human subject. This study first interpreted Jarman's garden space from the perspective of objective time. The garden transforms itself into a sensitive space according to Jarman's personal emotions in the current space within objective time, showing the multilayered attributes of space. Therefore, a garden space that exists in objective time is ultimately not objective, and is transformed according to the active reception of the human subject. Next, this study examined Jarman's garden space from the perspective of subjective time. The garden space lost in Jarman's memories and the one in his future illusion turn into a space that connotes abundant meaning according to Jarman's imagination or perception. Therefore, in subjective time, garden space is transformed according to Jarman's consciousness. This study verified that garden space, regardless of whether time is objective or subjective, can create infinite space according to the consciousness or emotions of the human subject beyond the existence of physical space. Since garden space has a unique intimacy unlike urban space, this study presented the uniqueness of garden space with an approach that differs from previous studies on gardens.

Affect and Cognition Interface in Aesthetic Experiences of Landscapes (경관의 미학적 경험에 있어서 감정과 인지의 상호작용)

  • 본 논문에서는 사람이 환경을 통해 경험하는 미학적 경험(aesthetic experience)을 체계화시킨 이론적 모델(a conceptual model of affect and cognition interface in aesthetic experiences of landscapes)이 간단히 소개 되며, 이 모델을 검증하기 위한 연구가 중점적으로 다루어진다. 제시된 모 델은 경관의 미학적 경험을 감정(affect)과 인지(cognition)와의 상호작용 (interface)으로 설명하고 있으며, 세 가지 요소(사람이 환경에 대하여 갖고 있는 목적 : tasks, 사람의 모든 과거경험에 근거한 지식일체 : schematic knowledge, 환경의 독특한 상황 : environmental situation)를 미학적 경험 의 주요인자로 제시한다. 이 모델을 검증하기 위한 연구에서는 앞에서 소 개된 미학적 경험의 세 가지 요소(사람의 목적, 지식, 환경상황)를 과학적 이고 계량적이고 처리할 수 있도록 세부요소로 분류정의 (operationalization)하였다. 구체적으로, 사람의 목적은 환경을 평가하는 세 가지 목적, 즉 경치평가(scenic beauty judgment), 들놀이 목적으로서의 평가(picnic preference judgment), 주거목적으로서의 평가(living preference judgment)로 분류되었고, 이 세 가지 환경평가는 미학적 경험의 지표로 사용되었다. 사람의 지식은 국적에 근거한 문화적인 지식(cultural schema : 한국인과 텍사스인)과 직업에 근거한 사회적인 지식(social schema : 농부, 비농부, 조경학과 학생)으로 분류되었으며, 환경상황은 환 경의 아름다움(beauty : 아름다운 경관과 아름답지않은 경관)과 환경의 의 미(meaning : 긍정적인 의미가 있는 한국경관, 긍정적인 의미가 없는 한국 경관, 긍정적인 의미가 있는 미국 텍사스경관)로 분류되었다. 연구결과를 보면, 이론적 모델에서 소개된 세 가지 요소들 (사람의 목적, 지식, 환경상 황) 모두가 경관의 미학적 경험에(경치평가, 들놀이 선호도, 주거지 선호 도) 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 밝혀졌으며, 이 연구결과는 제시된 이론적 모델을 뒷받침하고 있다. 특히, 가장 흥미로운 연구결과를 요약하면 첫째, 사람의 문화적인 지식은 단독으로 미학적 경험에 영향을 주는 것이 아니라 다른 요소들(특히 사회적인 지식과 목적)과의 상호작용을 통해 미학적 경 험을 형성한다는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 둘째, 환경의 아름다움은 다른 세부요소 들(환경의 의미, 사람의 목적과 지식)보다 미학적 경험에 주는 영향이 큰 것으로 나타났으며, 모든 사람들에게 비슷한 미학적 경험을 발생시키는 것 이 밝혀졌다. 다시 말하면 모든 사람들은 그들의 문화적인 국적과 사회적 인 직업의 차이, 목적의 차이, 또한 환경의 의미의 차이에 상관없이 아름다 운 경관(High-beauty landscape)을 주거지나 나들이 장소로서 선호했으며, 아름답다고 평가했다. 반면에, 사람들이 갖고 있는 문화의 차이, 직업의 차 이, 목적의 차이, 그리고 환경의 의미의 차이에 따라 경관의 미학적 평가가 달라진 것으로 나타났다.

A Study on the Present Condition of Four-Year University Curriculum for Introducing NCS Landscape Architecture (NCS 조경 분야 적용을 위한 4년제 대학 교육과정 현황분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the functional unit system of NCS landscape field for correction and supplementation of NCS landscape field and the contents of the four-year college landscape course subject. First, 24 unconsolidated four-year universities were selected, and FGI was conducted and verified for 816 courses in 24 universities. The results of the study are summarized as follows, with three sections three, nine divisions and 65 sub-category. First, landscape design subjects accounted for 40.0% of the subjects organized by four-year universities. In addition, the ratio of 12.9% for ecological landscape, 11.3% for landscape construction, 10.2% for others, 10.0% for landscape information, 6.6% for landscape culture and 3.7% for landscape management was surveyed. Balanced and efficient modification and reinforcement of NCS is required in the future. Second, 10(18.9%) units with matching NCS performance criteria and educational objectives were found to be capable of different units(18.9%), 15(28.3%), and 37subjects with inconsistent NCS unit capability (56.9%). Third, looking at the criteria for the reference of each unit of capability presented by the NCS, it is deemed that one unit of capability should be organized separately to improve the practical ability, since it includes the contents of basic knowledge learning. Fourth, the objectives pursued on the basis of the contents of the NCS capability unit and four-year college curriculum were developed by focusing on the development of unit capabilities in the field of landscape construction and landscape management compared to the field of landscape design. It has been shown that a balance is needed for future development. This study is intended to put forward further research that re-examine specific curriculum assessment criteria that have not been classified in the course of classifications based on the curriculum handbook, which excludes interferences from each school.

Study on the Effective Methods in the Maintenance of the Landscape Plants in Apartment Housing Areas (아파트단지내(團地內) 조경수목(造景樹木)의 효율적(效率的)인 관리방안(管理方案)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • This study reflects our conviction that the maintenance of the landscape plants in apartment housing areas has appeared as an important factor. The defects ratio of the landscape plants shows high in the study, which tells us a serious situation were facing in consideration of the quality of residential Life. Methods for the effective maintenance of the landscape plants are recommended as follows; First, the landscape plants in apartment housing areas should be maintained by a specialist in landscape architecture. Second, the co-operative maintenance between inhabitants and specialists is required. Third, the over-all understanding of the landscape plants should be improved.

A Study on the Nong-Yeon Seodang 10 Scenery in Daeam Seonsaeng Munjip (대암선생문집 속의 농연서당십경(聾淵書堂十景)에 관한 연구)

  • This research is an explorative research done on finding sights in documents related to landscapes that are described in personal essay collections of late-Joseon Dynasty, and to fathom the possibilities of finding the actual landscape by analyzing the landscape and features of the landscape. The target sight of this research is to find all the features and landscapes of the Nong-yeon Seodang 10 scenery that are described in Choi Dong-Jip(late-Joseon Dynasty scholar)'s Daeam Sunsaeng Munjip. The results are as follows: 1) a theoretical inquiry into Daeam Choi Dong-Jip and his descendent Baekbulam Choi Heung-Won(who had compiled Daeam Sungsaeng Munjip)'s background and Nong-Yeon Seodang has been done, 2) Nong-Yeon Seodang's location was found through historical documents and field investigations, and 3) the features of landscapes related to Nong-Yeon Seodang 10 scenery and its distribution and the significance were analyzed. Through this inquiry, organization of Nong-Yeon Seodang and the significance of its direction were reflected again, records on garden organization were checked, and a direction for continuation of research was suggested.

A theoretical study on the irony of alienation of local people by historical local identity (역사적 지역 정체성의 지역민 소외 아이러니에 관한 이론적 고찰)

  • This study discusses various conflict situations and unexpressed pathological potential in historical regions. In this regard, the issue of alienation of local people due to local identity was raised and the cause was investigated. It explains the structural origins of local alienation that occurred in the process of objectifying a region and forming its identity. The process of alienation of local residents of local identity identified in this paper was divided and explained in three stages: objectification of the region, symbolization of local identity, and religious materialism of local identity. In addition, in the process, the incorporation of the production mode of intellectual work, the separation of producers, and the loss of the subject-centered control ability over these products were pointed out as problematic situations. The study suggests to change the perception of the region and to restore the control of the local people through narrative in relation to this problematic situation. Thus, this thesis asserts that we need to have doubts about the justification for the public good and the basis of the resulting consensus, and that we should be constantly interested in the pathological signs of society around us.

  • In this paper a new damage identification theory is developed in order to identify the locations, severities, and orientations of local damages, all together at a time, by using the frequency response functions measured from damaged plate. Finally, the effects of damage orientation on the vibration responses of a plate are numerically investigated, and the numerically simulated damage identification tests are conducted to verify the present damage identification theory.

  • 연료 연소를 수반하는 장치는 공업계에서 널리 사용되고 있으나, 그 설계에 있어서 확립된 이 론은 거의 없고 대체로 과거의 설계에 따라 설계하고 있는 것이 현상이라 하겠다. 변조장치의 형 식이 정해져 있고, 성능도 거의 알려져 있는 경우에는 위와같은 방법도 좋겠지만 예를 들어 새로 운 형식 변조기나 연소실을 계획할 경우에는 실기와 동규모의 실험장치를 몇 종류 제작하여 그 성능을 실험적으로 비교 검토하여 좋은 것을 찾는 방밥을 취하게 된다. 이러한 방법은 많은 비용이 소요되며 기종이 바뀌면 새로위와 같은 일을 반복하여야 한다. 이와같은 불합리를 없애기 위하여 많은 연구자는 이론적으로 또 실험적으로 연구를 계속해왔다. 그리하여 현재 많은 사 실을 구명하였으나 아직 구체적 이론을 확립하기까지는 이르지못한 실정이다. 이것은 연소란 현상이 아주 복잡하고 또 관계된 인자가 많은 까닭이다. 본 강좌에서는 열체분우연소의 기본을 이루는 액적의 증발과 연소 문제에 대해서 현상적으로 해설하여 기초적 해석에 도움이 되기를 바라는 바이다.

The Effects of multimedia information diaplay on information processing (멀티미디어 정보 제시유형이 정보처리에 미치는 영향)

  • 본 연구에서는 멀티미디어 환경에서 정보 제시 유형이 정보 처리에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 초등학교 아동을 대사으로 하여 텍스트와 나래이션을 제시한 조건, 텍스트와 애니매이션을 제시한 조건, 애니매이션과 나래이션을 제시한 조건에 따라 학습정도가 어떻게 달라지는지를 알아보았다. 학습 수행 평가는 학습자료를 보여주고 즉시 검사하였고, 학습한 후 일주일이 지난 후에 지연검사를 하였다. 그 결과 두 검사 모두에서 애니매이션과 나래이션을 제시한 조건이 다른 두 조건에 비해 효율적인 학습 수행 결과를 보였다. 이러한 결과는 아동에게 있어서 단일 매체(텍스트)로 정보를 제시하는 것보다는 다중매체(텍스트, 애니매이션)로 정보를 처리할 수 있도록 제시하는 것이 학습에 효과적임을 보요준다. 또한 이러한 결과는 기존의 이중보호이론과 작용기억이론을 지지해 준다.

The Implication and Issues of Landscape Design Education through National Exhibition of Korean Landscape Architecture (대한민국환경조경대전을 통해 본 조경 설계 교육의 쟁점과 시사점)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the issues and implications for landscape design education in Korean landscape architecture by analyzing the National Exhibition of Korean Landscape Architecture(NEKLA). This study analyzed the suggested topics and selected site as well as the commentary that appeared in the NEKLA's award-winning book published from 2004 to 2014. Results of the study are as follows: First, topics of NEKLA are not only competition guidelines but related to exploring new area and role of Korean landscape architecture. Second, most dealing with site is 'industrial heritage and regeneration space' and 'green infrastructure'. In more recent years, a larger variety of sites were addressed. Third, site locations are concentrated in metropolitan areas, and awards and participation of the non-metropolitan universities was very low. Fourth, seven criteria can be applied in a general landscape design competition such as 'newness of the concept(idea)', 'logicality of the design process', 'selection of site fidelity of analysis(interpretation)', 'presentation and completion of the master plan', 'consistency with the theme', 'linkage of concepts and results' and 'feasibility'. The evaluation criteria are increasing the sophistication of the design language to provide useful suggestions on how to find design education methods. Its implications are as follows: First, training is essential to derive innovative ideas, but it should avoid excessive concept-oriented education. Second, design education may include instruction on how to define the problems related with the site. Third, more emphasis on design logic is essential to transform the innovative concept to actual results. Fourth, 'slick images' unrelated to design should be suppressed. Fifth, practice is needed to solve the topics addressed in the design process of education. Sixth, 'feasibility' and 'creative thinking' are necessary to recognize a reciprocal relationship that is helpful to one another. This study uses direct quote commentary to minimize the subjectivity of the researcher and to trace issues of the contemporary landscape architecture more directly and vividly. This study is a record waiting for another review as meta-criticism. In this regard this study, the landscape architect of the next times will have a mean that historical records to review the current thinking of the landscape theory and design.
