Factors that Need to be Overcome for Successful Integrated Marketing Communication (통합적 마케팅 커뮤니케이션의 성공적 실행을 위해 극복해야 할 요인에 대한 고찰)

  • How to facilitate Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC)? An approach to answer this question is to identify an organization's internal and external barriers to IMC and then to resolve them. Eight dimensions emerged from the factor analysis of the barrier items: organizational structure problem, department ego, lack of database, difficulty in analyzing effectiveness, lack of perception on consumer-oriented communication, increasing dependency on an agency, lack of agencies' expertise on IMC, and fear of budget reductions. With regression analyses, this study found that 'organizational structure problem' and 'lack of perception on consumer-oriented communication' were negatively related to IMC and that 'department ego', 'lark of perception on consumer-oriented Communication', 'organizational structure problem', and 'fear of budget reductions' were negatively related to the expectation of IMC usefulness. The findings indicate that organizations surveyed stay at a low level of IMC and urgently needs to resolve internal barriers rather than external ones in order to enhance IMC.

A Study on the Effect of Public Library Managers' Communication Styles on Employees' Empowerment, Job Satisfaction, and Life Satisfaction (공공도서관 관리자 커뮤니케이션 유형이 직원의 임파워먼트, 직무만족, 생활만족에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, a research model was designed and verified in order to determine whether the communication styles of public library managers affect employees' empowerment, job satisfaction, and life satisfaction. A survey was conducted among employees of four public libraries in the Gyeonggi region and 24 libraries in Seoul, and 229 valid responses were analyzed. The analysis revealed that authoritative communication style influenced employees' job satisfaction, while social communication style influenced their empowerment. Additionally, employees' empowerment impacted their job satisfaction, which in turn affected their life satisfaction. This implies that job satisfaction and life satisfaction of the employees can be achieved after communication and empowerment were well established within the organization. This study is meaningful in suggesting an effective management direction for strengthening the essence and foundation of public libraries by examining the theoretical significance and implications of the research result. This study also suggested that in the future, another research should be conducted based on a variety of characteristics by integrating the different communication styles of researchers.

  • Recently, Dennis et al.(2008) proposed media synchronicity theory. In this theory, for conveyance communication processes, use of media supporting lower synchronicity should result in better communication performance. But for convergence processes, use of media supporting higher synchronicity should result in better communication performance. This paper proved a part of the propositions of media synchronicity theory, because media synchronicity theory was proposed theoretically, not empirically. We used a data set generated from the survey. The respondents of survey were 163 students who had experienced the communication media in the classes that should summit result of team projects or team reports. According to the results of data analysis, higher use of communication media led to better learning performance. The familiarity of task moderated the effect of communication media on learning performance. And use of media supporting higher synchronicity led to better learning performance.

Effect of Salesperson's and Customer's Nonverbal Communication at Service Encounter (서비스 접점에서 판매원과 고객의 비언어적 커뮤니케이션의 효과: 성별의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • This study aims at reviewing the effect of the non-verbal communication of salespersons at service encounter on customers' non-verbal communication and responses. The previous studies overlooked the correlation between salespersons' non-verbal communication and customers' non-verbal communication at service encounter, although non-verbal communication of salespersons has potentialities evoking customers' non-verbal communication and emotional responses in various ways. If it is a salesperson who a customer first encounters within a shop, the non-verbal communication of salesperson affects his/her non-verbal communication and these non-verbal communication affect his/her emotional responses, and these emotional responses affect his/her behavior. This phenomenon is based on the theory of emotional contagion, mimic, and face feedback. Therefore the non-verbal communication such as greetings, postures and eye-contact manners through the personal interactions between salespersons and customers, can be said to be an antecedent variable which affects the positive responses of customer. As a result of the study, the kinesic of salesperson's non-verbal communication was found to affect customers' non-verbal communication, and customers' non-verbal communication affect emotional responses experienced at service encounter, and customers' positive emotion affect customers' behavior responses. This result provides an opportunity which makes one turn eyes on salespersons' non-verbal communication at sales encounter both practically and scientifically, through introducing salespersons' non-verbal communication as an important factor which can enhance customers' positive responses but has been passed over by the previous studies.

  • The spread of non-face-to-face culture due to COVID-19 led to innovation in untact services and the increase of non-face-to-face communication through video conference platforms. However, it is difficult to identify nonverbal expressions in synchronous online communication. Moreover, it is hard to interact with people by making eye contact. Despite the positive effects of eye contact, including such as sharing emotions and helping build intimacy, no research has empirically verified the effectiveness of eye contact in synchronous online communication. Thus, the study verified the effectiveness of eye contact in synchronous online communication. Depending on the context of the communication and whether(or not) there is eye contact, six video treatments were used to measure four dependent variables-Continuance Intention to Use, Performance Expectancy, Interactivity, and Personal Connection. The study shows that the communication with eye contact in all contexts was rated higher than the one without eye contact in all measurement variables. This study will help to provide a better user experience in synchronous online communication by verifying the effectiveness of eye contact in synchronous online communication and proposing the need of technology and the direction of the technological development.

A Study about the Effects of Organizational Members' Personality Types and Conflict Resolution Styles on the Organizational Communication Satisfaction (조직원의 성격유형에 따른 갈등관리방식의 차이가 조직커뮤니케이션 만족에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the variables which had effects on the organizational communication satisfaction(OCS) based on the relationship between organizational members' personality types and conflict resolution styles. A questionnaire survey including social style profile and OCS scale was carried out with the various organizational members. The results showed that there were significant differences on the ways to resolve the conflicts according to personality types. The members who tended to assert their opinions with confidence had a high level of OCS. The results of path analysis on the variables influencing the OCS revealed that among the conflict resolution styles, the problem solving style and compromise style were associated with the OCS-social relationship. In contrast, the blaming style and imposing style were related with the degree of OCS-task. The members' individualistic variables such as organizational status and sex were important factors in explaining the differences of conflict resolution styles and the OCS. In conclusion, this study showed that the matching of conflict resolution styles with the members' task characteristics is a crucial factor in the production of effective organizational outcomes. The limitations of this study were reported along with the suggestions for the future studies.

  • New technologies will soon bring fundamental changes to the process of scientific communication. To understand the path that these changes may take in the future, we need to take a careful look at the past. By examining the history of scientific communication, we can see how new technologies can interact with changes in communication forms. By looking at the complex roles that journals have traditionally played, we can better understand how and when journals may incorporate these new technologies. From these models we can project that electronic journals must meet the basic needs that print journals do, that they will initially maintain many of the features of traditional print journals, that their transformation may be driven by external forces, and that they will be slow in reaching their full potential.

  • 오늘날 병원마케팅에서 간호서비스는 병원 내 어느 전문직보다도 가장 많은 시간을 고객인 환자와 합께 나누며 환자의 욕구 충족을 위하여 고도의 분업화된 제반 부서들간의 활동을 조정하고 융화시키는 역할올 통하여 환자들이 지각하는 병원서비스의 만족도에 종요 한 부분을 차지하고 있으므로 병원마케팅의 전략적 초점으로 전환될 필요가 있다. 의료 서비스는 특성상 전문성이 강해서 정보가 소비자에게 공유되지 못하고 있으며 비영리조직이라는 인식하에 의료 서비스에 대한 광고를 제한합으로써 실제적으로 소비자에게 필요한 의료 관련 정보들마저도 제한을 받는 경우가 많이 있다. 그리고 의료서비스의 무형성, 비분리성, 이질성, 소멸성의 특성으로 어떠한 의료 서비스를 이용할 것인지해 대한 결정을 고객이 하기 어렵기 때문에 오늘날 의료 소비자들이 의료제공 기관을 선택 할 때는 밑올만한 다른 사랑의 추천에 크게 의존하고 있는 것으로 알려져 있으며, 국내의 연구에서도 의료소비자들이 병원을 선택하는 주된 정보 획득 원천이 주변의 제 3자인 것으로 알려져 있다. 이러한 정보 전달에 구전 커뮤니케이션이 주요한 제3자적 억할을 한다. 이러 한 관접에서 불 때 의료 소비자둘 사이의 구전 커뮤니케이션은 마케 팅 전략상 매우 종요하 며 마케팅 관리측면에서 의료 소비자들의 구전 커뮤니케이션 형태톨 파악하는 것은 매우 중요한 일이라고 할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구는 구전 커뮤니케이션의 내용 및 경로 그리고 유형을 파악하고 이들 유형간 의료서비스의 만족도를 알아봄으로써 효파적인 병원 마케팅 전략을 수립하는데 필요한 자료를 제공하고자 한다. 본 연구의 결과를 증합해 보면 의료소비자들이 연령 성별 학력, 소득, 직업, 주거지가 비슷한 사람과 구전이 활발하게 일어냐는 것을 파악 할 수 있어 특히 상업적 광고가 제한 된 병원의 마케팅 전략에 oH우 유용한 것이 훨 수 있다. 또한 불만족한 소비자일수록 발신 자적 입장에 서서 주위의 사람들에게 활발한 구전 활동을 수행하고 었음을 알 수 있다. 이 는 의료 소비자들이 만족한 경우보다는 불만족한 경우에 더욱 구전을 수행하려는 의지가 강해짐올 시사한다. 따라서 병원은 소비자들의 불만을 감소시키기 위해 노력해야 한다. 특히 의료인의 친절함이 가장 많이 구전이 되는 것을 알 수 있었는데 의사나 간호사는 치료 나 간호의 직접적인 제공자로서 의료 소비자들의 만족도에 중요한 영향을 미치므로 의료소 비자들의 요구에 부응하는 서비스를 충족시켜 줄 수 있도록 노력해야하며 이러한 바탕 위에 병원마케팅 전략이 수립되어야 할 것이다.

  • To activate the use of the mobile Internet, its service must be changed itself, as well as improvement of its use environment, and the changing direction must orient 'SMART SERVICE', which it provides in the fastest, easiest, most comfortable way by selecting the core information users want most. This paper suggests that the users of smartphones access diverse contents out of the mobile apps anytime and anywhere and use them conveniently, by activating social communication among the users of school information through the mobile app development suitable for Android OS.

  • 본 논문은 HTML5의 새로운 표준인 웹소켓(WebSocket)을 이용하여 구현한 실시간 커뮤니케이션 시스템을 소개한다. 본 논문에서 구현한 시스템은 PC의 브라우저와 모바일 디바이스 모두를 통해 접근이 가능하다. 본 논문에서 구현한 실시간 커뮤니케이션 서비스 시스템은 이벤트 기반의 비동기 방식을 채택함으로써, 클라이언트가 리로드(reload)하지 않더라도 필요한 정보를 빠르게 제공한다. PC의 브라우저가 접근하는 부분은 Node.js를 사용하여 구현하였으며, 모바일 디바이스가 접근하는 부분은 PhoneGap 플랫폼을 사용하여 구현하였다. 본 논문에서는 시스템의 전체 구조와 관련 기술을 설명하고, 구체적인 구현 코드의 일부를 제시하며, 추후 확장 가능성과 비전을 제시한다.
