  • Using information mapping methodology we will discover which of the multitude of information sources, services and systems used by corporation are actually resources and which are less important, redundant, or unnecessary. The discovery process of information resources will illuminate problems and opportunities related corporation's strengths and weeknesses in information quality, accessibility, performance, use, and effectiveness.

  • As information is the critical resource of business, CIOs(chief information officers)' managerial roles become more important. CIOs work out the organization and information system strategies, introduce changes into organizations, communicate with chief executive officers and users, and take the responsibilities of the information system operation. The CIOs' managerial roles make affects on the information system performance and the organizational effectiveness. They are divided into six sub-roles; leader, liaison, entrepreneur, monitor, resource allocator and spokesman. The CIOs' influences on organizations are evaluated by information systems performance. User information satisfaction is one of the most valid information system evaluation criterions. User participation and user involvement are regarded as the antecedents of user satisfaction. This study investigates the effect of CIOs' managerial roles on user satisfaction, user participation, user involvement, CIOs' six managerial roles do not equally influence users. The results of this study have implications for the CIOs' managerial roles in organizations. As CIOs effectively perform managerial roles, user satisfaction is improved.

  • Infringement of information security has caused the corporate image to be damaged and share price to fall, and it is emerging as an organizational risk. The value of information assets in enterprises has led to a higher level of security than in the past. As a result, companies are aware of the need for officers to protect information and to oversee a security management system. However, despite the growing importance of information security officers, there is a lack of research on their roles and characteristics. This study validates the relationship between determinants that affect the performance of information security. And a structural equation model was presented and empirically analyzed to see the impact of the internal and external characteristics of the staff in charge of information security on the organization's information security performance.

  • CIO is required to be manager in information systems department and leader in managing as well. That's means expanding a role of CIO, Thereupon, a leadership style of CIO could affect achievement of IS. This study is to find out the relationship a leadership style of CIO and achievement of IS. In this study, CIO leadership style is divided into drive goal and drive method, and then was executed empirical analysis to distinguish differences between those. CIO leadership style was divide 3 kinds of things depends on Ballancing of leadership, As a result, strategic drive and harmonious method are more effective than other styles.

  • The issue of information security within an organization began to be recognized as risk of the organization. Because of this, not only ISO(Information Security Officer) but an executive or CEO were forced to resign. In addition, it brought about heavy financial damage to the company and made the company difficult to restore trust to customers. At a time when inadvertent disclosure of personal information has become accepted as a matter of survival because of having a bad effect within an organization, how the information security specialist causes influence on information protection level of the organization. For these reasons, targeting the information security specialists of various industry sectors, we'll analyse how task performance rate of the information security specialist within an organization cause influence to the information security level. The goal of this study is for the company to raise the task proportion of information security specialist and to improve the information protection level of the organization.

A Study on the Impact of CIO Leadership Versatility on the IS Performance (CIO의 리더십 균형성이 IS 성과에 미치는 영향)

  • This paper studied the impact of CIO leadership on the IS performance. The survey was developed to measure the relationship between CIO leadership style and the IS performance. The study shows that the differences in CIO leadership style along the two dimensions of goals and modes do not cause a statistically meaningful difference in business efficiency, one of the IS performance. Contrary to the existing studies that suggest a balanced leadership is effective, this study illustrates that strategic leadership and enabling leadership are more effective in the aspects of targets and manners respectively. This study does contribute to the introduction and utilization of CIO: unlike existing studies on leadership, it proposes a new approach to classifying leadership style based on the styles exhibited by CIO's flexibly from one situation to another. It will provide companies considering appointing CIO's or already using CIO's with insights into effective CIO role. It is important to provide CIOs with position and authority to exhibit their leadership flexibly.

  • In the meantime, research on corporate informatization focuses on the completeness of information technology itself and its financial effects, so there is insufficient research on whether information technology can support business strategy. It is necessary to verify whether the management strategy implementation of the company can be led through the informatization of the enterprise and the relation between the main mechanism factors and the informatization performance. In this study, what a mechanism factor is applied in the process of result creation of informatization from three mechanism perspectives such as selecting mechanism, learning mechanism and coordinating mechanism with cases of representative domestic IT company and what an importance mechanism factors have been ascertained. This study results in 8 propositions. For a main agent of companies, securement of information capability of organizations has been selected to realize informatization results and investment of informatization has been selected to solve organizational decentralization problems as the most important factor. Additionally, as competition in the industry gets fierce, investment on informatization has been changed to a utility way of implementation of strategies and decision on investment has been made through the official process and information technology. Differentiated company capability has been made based on acquisition of technical knowledge and company information has been expanded to its whole employees through the information system. Also, informatization change management and outside subcontractor management have been acknowledged as an important adjustment factor of company. The first implication of this study is that since case studies on mechanism factors that preceding studies on informatization results did not empirically cover have directly been dealt with based on experiences of executives in charge of business and in charge of informatization, this study can provide practical views about factors that should be mainly managed for informatization results of IT companies. Secondly, since ser-M framework has been applied for IT companies for the first time, this study can academically contribute to companies in other fields about main mechanism factors for result creation of informatization based on deeper understanding and empirical cases.
