  • We present an autonomous entertainment dolphin robot system based on ubiquitous sensor networks(USN). Generally, It is impossible to apply to USN and GPS in underwater bio-mimetic robots. But An Entertainment dolphin robot which presented in this paper operates on the water not underwater. Navigation of the underwater robot in a given area is based on GPS data and the acquired position information from deployed USN motes with emphasis on user interaction. Body structures, sensors and actuators, governing microcontroller boards, and swimming and interaction features are described for a typical entertainment dolphin robot. Actions of mouth-opening, tail splash or water blow through a spout hole are typical responses of interaction when touch sensors on the body detect users' demand. Dolphin robots should turn towards people who demand to interact with them, while swimming autonomously. The functions that are relevant to human-robot interaction as well as robot movement such as path control, obstacle detection and avoidance are managed by microcontrollers on the robot for autonomy. Distance errors are calibrated periodically by the known position data of the deployed USN motes.

  • Corona 19 quarantine is often not implemented at degraded bus stops. We conducted this study to improve these problems. The inside and outside of the shelter can be sterilized with UV photocatalyst coating to maintain a hygienic and clean shelter, and passengers can breathe smoothly by reducing carbon dioxide in the shelter using CO2 sensors and fans. It is also expected that the body temperature can be measured using a body temperature sensor to prevent more than 20% of the spread of the coronavirus in the shelter by isolating suspected coronavirus patients in the first place. When the temperature measurement distance was less than 10cm, the accuracy of the temperature measurement was 98.9%. You can communicate your intention to ride safely and clearly without contacting the bus driver by using a ride bell that uses wireless communication inside the shelter.

  • In this paper, we investigate the properties of CoGe thin film-based galvanic cells as a function of their dimension (cell length, width, etc.) and show their application as sensors to Arduino-based IoT sensor networks to detect water contact. Because these CoGe thin film-based galvanic cells do not require mechanical strains or temperature gradients unlike piezoelectric and thermoelectric energy harvesters, we think that these thin film-based galvanic cells are more suitable for self-powered sensor networks demanding sustainable and robust energy harvesters. In the past, a sputter-deposited CoGe thin film has not been intensively investigated for energy harvesting appilcations. Thus, in this study, we perform a feasibility study of galvanic cells composed of a sputter-deposited CoGe thin film to see if they can be applied as potential self-powered sensors. We believe that this paper will be of great help in developing even more enhanced sensor networks.

  • Optical measurement methods make it possible to detect object displacements with high resolution and noncontact measurements. Also, they are very robust against EMI noises and have long operation range. An optical triangulation sensor is one of widely used displacement measurement sensors for its sub-micron resolution, fast response, simple structure, and low cost. However. there are several errors caused by inclinations of a surface. speckle effects, power fluctuations of light sources, and noises of detectors. In this paper, in order to minimize error effects, we performed error analysis and proposed a new structure. Then, we setup a new modeling method and verify it through simulations and experiments. Based on the new model. we propose a new sensor structure and establish design criteria. Finally, we design a signal processing system to overcome a resolution-limited problem of light detectors. The resolution of the proposed system is 0.2${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in 5mm operating range.

  • Planar type micro catalytic combustible gas sensor was developed by using nano crystalline $SnO_2$ Pt thin film as micro heater was deposited by thermal evaporation method on the alumina substrate. The thickness of the Pt heater was around 160 nm. The sensor showed high reliability with prominent selectivity against various gases(Co, $C_3H_8,\;CH_4$) at low operating temperature($156^{\circ}C$). The sensor with nano crystalline $SnO_2$ showed higher sensitivity than that without nano crystalline $SnO_2$. This can be explained by more active adsorption and oxidation of hydrogen by nano crystalline $SnO_2$ particles. The present planar-type catalytic combustible hydrogen sensor with nano crystalline $SnO_2$ is a good candidate for detection of hydrogen leaks.

  • In this paper, a new structure to improve the resolution of an inductive torque sensor is proposed. The new coupling structure and the change of number of turns for the receiving coil increase the resolution of the torque sensor. Because this torque sensor has non-contact points, it has no abrasion at the contact point, and is very durable. Also, the torque sensor has less variation due to vibration or strain, and it has a good EMC(Electromagnetic Compatibility) and thermal characteristics.

  • The human pulse wave is a vital biosignal that includes the diagnostic data related with the heart and the cardiovascular system of human body. Based on the mechanical transducing method, a pulse detection transducer using optical fiber was developed to acquire the pulses non-invasively. To improve the detection efficiency, we proposed a new design that consists of two combinational parts; detecting part, which is in contact with the pulsating skin and transmits the displacement motion of the pulsating skin to the sensing part, and sensing part, which converts the physical quantity transmitted from the detecting part to electronic signal. By using the new method, we confirmed that the proposed transducer can detect the C point(incisura) and the T wave(tidal wave) which is not easily detected by existing transducers.

  • Flat type catalytic combustible hydrogen sensors were fabricated using platinum micro-heaters and sensing material pastes. The platinum micro-heater was formed on an alumina substrate by sputtering method. The paste for the sensing materials was prepared using ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ 30 wt%, $SnO_2$ 35 wt%, and Pd/Pt 30 wt% and coated on the platinum micro-heater. The sensing performances were tested for the prepared sensors with different substrate sizes. The micro catalytic combustible hydrogen sensors showed quick response time, high reliability, and good selectivity against various gases(CO, $C_3H_8,\;CH_4$) at low operating temperature of $156^{\circ}\C$.

  • This paper presents research for non-contact gesture recognition system using EPS(Electronic Potential Sensor) for measuring the human body of electromagnetic fields. It implemented a signal acquisition and signal processing system for designing a system suitable for motion recognition using the data coming from the sensors. we transform AC-type data into DC-type data by applying a 10Hz LPF considering H/W sampling rate. in addition, we extract 2-dimensional movement information by taking difference value between two cross-diagonal deployed sensor.
