Relation extraction is to extract relationships between named entities from text. Traditionally, relation extraction methods only extract relations between predetermined subject and object entities. However, in end-to-end relation extraction, all possible relations must be extracted by considering the positions of the subject and object for each pair of entities, and so this method uses time and resources inefficiently. To alleviate this problem, this paper proposes a method that sets directions based on the positions of the subject and object, and extracts relations according to the directions. The proposed method utilizes existing relation extraction data to generate direction labels indicating the direction in which the subject points to the object in the sentence, adds entity position tokens and entity type to sentences to predict the directions using a pre-trained language model (KLUE-RoBERTa-base, RoBERTa-base), and generates representations of subject and object entities through probabilistic crossover operation. Then, we make use of these representations to extract relations. Experimental results show that the proposed model performs about 3 ~ 4%p better than a method for predicting integrated labels. In addition, when learning Korean and English data using the proposed model, the performance was 1.7%p higher in English than in Korean due to the number of data and language disorder and the values of the parameters that produce the best performance were different. By excluding the number of directional cases, the proposed model can reduce the waste of resources in end-to-end relation extraction.

The present study proposes a model for literature-based instruction within the context of a fashion design curriculum at a Korean university. The fashion design market continues to grow. The fashion design market now requires more cultural-bound strategies and efficient communication skills. The literature provides authentic resources and is highly relevant to the development of students' culture awareness as well as language awareness. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland written by Lewis Carroll contains various cultural contexts of the Victorian Era. The text provides explicit knowledge of the era depicted in both illustrations and satire languages. This study instructs students to analyze and interpret texts and illustrations so that they can engage critically and analytically in reading text to increase culture awareness and language awareness. The integration of literature and fashion design can provide students an opportunity to explore language choice and acquire refined knowledge of the target culture. Along with the text, illustrations in the literature provoke student's imaginative and creative thinking skills. Students can think and discuss many issues that deal with Victorian values and reinforce creative thinking skills. In the final stage, students can design fashion inspired by Victorian values and present their own designs using the acquired languages. This eventually leads students to adapt to a new notion for the fashion market and become competent communicators in the fashion world.

The purpose of this study is to analyze that The arithmetic and algebraic word problem solving skill, strategy preference, and assessment ability of elementary preservice teachers is investigated using a statistical methodology. The research findings are as follows. First, elementary preservice teachers demonstrated logical and delicate problem solving behaviors in arithmetic and algebraic word problem solving. And elementary preservice teachers prefer to create a formula and table strategy in problem solving of the arithmetic question. Second, there was meaningful difference in the math and english elementary preservice teachers' appreciations with significant level of 0.05. And there was not meaningful difference in the 1 and 4 grade elementary preservice teachers' appreciations with significant level of ${\alpha}=0.05$. Results of the study suggest that teachers education course need to improve elementary preservice teachers' word problem solving skill, strategy preference, and assessment ability in the arithmetic and algebraic.

With a gradual increase in research on teaching and learning calculus, there have been various studies about students' thinking about the derivative. This paper reviews the results of the existing empirical studies published in Korean and English. These studies mainly have shown that how students think about the derivative is related to their understanding of the related concepts and the representations of the derivative. There are also recent studies that emphasize the importance of how students learn the derivative including different applications of the derivative in different disciplines. However, the current literature rarely addressed how students think about the derivative in terms of the language differences, e.g., in Korean and English. The different terms for the derivative at a point and the derivative of a function, which shows the relation between concepts, may be closely related to students' thinking of the derivative as a function. Future study on this topic may expand our understanding on the role language-specific terms play in students' learning of mathematical concepts.

Purpose - This study investigated the effects of lectures in the English medium (EML) on understanding and learning outcomes. Sixty percent of EML lectures in Korea also use Korean for further support. Thus, this situation needs to clearly distinguish the specific impacts of the EML classes on learning outcomes. Here, we use the same English materials, including PowerPoint slides and video content, given in the Korean and English lectures. The difference between the lectures becomes only whether the lecture is delivered in Korean or English. Thus, we can clearly identify whether the language difference makes any difference in learning outcomes. Research design, data, and methodology - Our sample consisted of 91 students taking an international business course the spring of 2015. All course materials, including textbooks, PowerPoint slides, exams, video, and support content, were presented in English. Survey data and exam results were used. Students filled out their student identification number and name, so we could match the surveys against the exam results. Results - First, results show that whether the lecture was delivered in English or Korean was an important factor when students chose the class. Second, English proficiency related to international business and general English levels were higher in the English class than in the Korean class. However, the understanding of key concepts and reading abilities of international business newspapers were the same for students in both classes. Third, teaching materials and lectures were the most important material for the understanding of key concepts in the business major. Fourth, the exam results showed no difference in performance of the students in the English versus the Korean class. This shows that EML classes were not necessarily detrimental to the understanding of major concepts of the lecture. Thus, it is important that researchers carefully design empirical settings to study the effectiveness of EML. Conclusions - The English lecture can be as helpful for enhancing knowledge in the business major as the Korean lecture. For further research, various English lecture forms can be considered to distinguish the effects of the English lecture.

This study aims to identify the effects of teachers' recognition and application of 2015 revised national curriculum on their educational information needs in high schools. Several in-depth interviews and a questionnaire survey with the teachers, who were in charge of teaching common courses, such as Korean language, mathematics, English, social studies, and science, in general public high schools in Incheon, were executed for the purpose. As a result, the teachers' recognition and application affected their educational information needs in part. Especially, new demands on small sized copies and learning information sources were identified which were related to the application of 2015 revised national curriculum. Based on the results, we proposed several improvements of school library operations, such as small sized local consortium for sharing resources and providing referral services, in order to strengthen the gateway role of school libraries.

The purpose of this study was to examine the students' responses and self-understanding in the liberal arts and personality class, one of the compulsory liberal arts subjects at S University. The results of the study are as follows. First, the degree of influence on students' positive change in this class was higher than normal using a five-step Likert scale. In particular, as a result of the film discussion conducted by the researcher, satisfaction was very high. Second, as a result of picture test analysis, changes in coping ability through stress and resource scales were seen in the students, and it was an opportunity for students to understand themselves by looking into their minds. This study presented example of classes that can cultivate students' personality through literature, art, and video, and cultivate their qualities as global citizens, such as responsibility, leadership, cooperation, consideration, communication, and empathy, through discussion.

The purpose of this study is to examine the definition of racism, prejudice, discrimination, and neo-racism, and to find solutions to racial discrimination. Specifically, we looked for cases of banal racism that appeared in the global era and looked at the racism that is prevalent in everyday life. The American film 《Hidden Figures》 is based on a true story and depicts the racism experienced by black women, and this racism is prevalent around the world as it appears in everyday life. In particular, racial discrimination has increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. Racial discrimination continues even after the pandemic. Therefore, a solution to overcome everyday racism was suggested. The results of this study will serve as an opportunity to realize that habitual and unconscious racism can be physical and mental violence for people suffering from racial discrimination.

This Study focuses on the university students' job attitude and cost of employment preparation. Nowadays, many university and college students spend a big money improving their employment preparation such as studying on foreign language, getting various kinds of certificates and tooth correction, clothing etc. for employment interview. This study investigated the cost of employment preparation and Job attitude of the 484 students of universities and colleges, the analysis of the collected data was conducted with SPSS 12.0 program by using frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability assessment, correlation test, t-test, one way ANOVA. The university students paid more costs of employment preparation such as a language training abroad, a private training, and clothing than the college students. Also, Allied social science students paid more costs of the language training abroad, and clothing than allied computer science and allied design students. The female students paid more money than male students for tooth correction. The costs of language training abroad, private training and clothing are affected the students' socioeconomic background of a home. Regarding the job attitude of students, the university students are feeling more positive than the college students of the employment efficacy and cognition of the education environment. As result, the differences in the cost of employment preparation by the university type, faculty major course, their sex, and socioeconomic background of a home. The student's employment-efficacy and cognition of the education environment are also differences between the university and the college students. So, to improve the job attitude, developing their ability for employment preparation, educational programs should be arranged in school and continuous researches are needed.

유 만근 교수 질문 : 음성학에 관하여 질문하고 싶습니다. 영국대학의 언어학 교육 과정에서 음성학이 차지하는 비중이 얼마나 큰 지 알고 싶습니다. 러우비니스 교수 응답 : 네 ,그 질문엔 한마디로 긍정적인 답변을 할 수 있읍니다. 음성학은 언어학에서 대단히 중요한 위치를 차지하며 런던대학뿐만이 아니라, 영국의 어느 대학에서나 음성학은 언어학에 초기부터 도입됩니다. 지금 하신 질문은 대단히 중요한 문제이므로 좀 더 자세히 설명하겠습니다. 런던의 동료와 마찬가지로 나는 음성학이 언어학의 일부일뿐 아니라 실로 필수적인 분야라고 봅니다. 런던 대학내에는 "음성학 및 언어학과" 라는 학과가 두 군데나 있는데 이는 "불어 및 이태리어과" 라는 식의 명칭과는 의미가 다릅니다. 이러한 명칭의 배후에는 역사적인 이유가 있읍니다. 음성학은 언어학의 분과중에서 가장i 먼저 발전하였으며, 영국에서는 음성학 교수직이 언어학 교수직보다 30년이나 먼저 생겼습니다. 바로 내이얼 저운스가 최초로 음성학 교수직을 얻어 30년이나 봉직했던 것입니다. 이러한 이유로 학과의 명칭이 아직도 그대로 존속하는 것입니다. 10년전에 한국에 왔던 헨더슨 교수 역시 음성학 교수입니다만, 그렇다고 그가 언어학에 관심이 없는 것은 아닙니다. 이제는 아무도 언어학의 전분야를 모두 전공할 수는 없습니다. 그래서 언어학에는 역사언어학, 응용언어학, 음성학 같은 분야별 전문가가 있기 마련입니다. 그러나, 통사론을 하지 않고 언어학을 할 수 없는 것과 마찬가지로 음성학을 하지 않고는 언어학을 할 수가 없습니다. 물론, 음성학안에서도 일반음성학이냐 개별어의 음성학이냐에 따라서 전문이 세분될 수 있읍니다마는, "음성학이 영국 대학의 언어학 교육 과정의 일부인가?" 라는 질문에 대한 답변은 자명할 것입니다. 안걸은 더 나아가서, 인간 언어의 역사를 잠시 생각해 보면 음성학이 언어학 연구에 없어서는 안될 필수적인 것을 알겁니다. 결국 언어학이란 인간 언어의 역사와 운용을 연구하는 것이고 인간의 언어란 수천년을 내려왔으나, 글자가 생기기 전까지는 순전히 음성언어, 즉 소리말로 존재했습니다. 한국어이건 영어이건, 라틴러이건 언어는 모두 발음기관으로 발음 할 수 있고 귀로 들을 수 있는 소리로 되어 있으며, 이미 죽은 말을 다를 때에도 결국 화석화한 소리말을 연구한다고 보는 것입니다. 즉 언어란 바로 소리말입니다. 사람은 글자를 배우기 앞서서 말을 배우며 우리같이 고등교육을 받은 사람도 쓰기와 읽기보다는 말하기와 듣기를 훨씬 많이 합니다. 이 같이 언어는 소리말로 운용되는데, 바로 소리 말을 연구하는 것이 음성학으므로 음성학은 언어학의 기본이요, 필수입니다. 음성학이 영국의 언어학에서 중요한 기본을 이루고 있다고 말 할 수 없다면 영국의 언어학은 그 만큼 빈약하게 될 것입니다. 한국에 음성학회가 있고 또 한글학회가 있지만, 그렇다고 하여 한국어 음성학이 한국어와는 다른 것이라거나, 한국어 음성학을 공부하지 않고 한국어를 연구할 수 있다는 뜻은 아닙니다. 의학에도 분야마다 전문의가 있듯이, 언어학도 이제 복잡하고 광범한 학문이 되었으므로 분야별로 전문가가 나오게 된 것뿐입니다. 따라서 "나는 통사론에 관심이 있으므로 소리말에는 관심이 없다"고 말하는 언어학자가 있다면, 이 것은 크게 잘못된 것입니다. 마찬가지로 "나는 소리에만 관심이 있으므로 통사론에는 관심이 없다"고 말하는 음성학자가 있다면, 이 또한 안되는 일입니다. 문의 구성과 어휘 요소와 아무 관련이 없는 말소리의 차이가 무슨 소용이 있으며, 통사 구조를 표현하고 저달하는 말소리를 연구하지 않고 어떻게 통사론을 연구할 수 있겠습니까? 다시 간추리면, 언어는 본질적으로 소리말이고, 언어의 특성과 사용 및 습득도 모두 소리말 형태로 나타납니다. 따라서, 영국의 대학은 음성학이 대단히 중요함을 인식하고, 언어학을 올바르게 다루는 세계의 여러 다른 대학과 마찬가지로 이에 따라 교육 과정을 편성하고 있습니다.
