Effect of Hot Isostatic Pressing on the Stellite 6 Alloy prepared by Directed Energy Deposition (DED 적층 제조된 Stellite 6 조성합금의 열간등방압성형 후처리 )

  • The directed energy deposited (DED) alloys show higher hardness values than the welded alloys due to the finer microstructure following the high cooling rate. However, defects such as microcracks, pores, and the residual stress are remained within the DED alloy. These defects deteriorate the wear behavior so post-processing such as heat treatment and hot isostatic pressing (HIP) are applied to DED alloys to reduce the defects. HIP was chosen in this study because the high pressure and temperature uniformly reduced the defects. The HIP is processed at 1150℃ under 100 MPa for 4 hours. After HIP, microcracks are disappeared and porosity is reduced by 86.9%. Carbides are spherodized due to the interdiffusion of Cr and C between the dendrite and interdendrite region. After HIP, the nanohardness (GPa) of carbides increased from 11.1 to 12, and the Co matrix decreased from 8.8 to 7.9. Vickers hardness (HV) decreased by 18.9 % after HIP. The dislocation density (10-2/m2) decreased from 7.34 to 0.34 and the residual stress (MPa) changed from tensile 79 to a compressive -246 by HIP. This study indicates that HIP is effective in reducing defects, and the HIP DED Stellite 6 exhibits a higher HV than welded Stellite 6.

Use-friendly Active Packaging of Powdered Infant Formula in Single-serve Portion Augmented with Anti-oxidative Function (산화억제 가능성과 사용편의성을 가진 일회성 조제분유 포장)

  • In the modified atmosphere packaging of powdered infant formula, the oxygen inside the package may cause its quality deterioration and needs to be minimized for quality preservation. A way of oxygen scavenger inclusion in the single-serve package without contacting the product was devised for removing oxygen residing initially and permeating through the seal layer during the storage. A polyethylene/pulp multi-layer porous filter bag of 5 × 7 cm containing 13 g of powdered infant formula was packaged in an 8 × 9 cm size aluminium laminated film package with a Fe-based oxygen scavenger of 1.8 g. After nitrogen flushed packaging, the active packages were stored at 30℃ for 254 days with periodical quality measurement. The active package could remove the initial residual oxygen of 1.4% completely and maintain absence of oxygen for the whole storage, which contributed to reduced oxidation observed in lower product peroxide value compared to that of the product in the control package. There was no influence of packaging treatment on content of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural, reaction product of initial nonenzymatic browning. The devised oxygen-scavenging single-serve package showed a potential to improve the preservation of infant formula powder and extend the shelf life.

Changes of Soil Physico-Chemical Properties under Different Tillages of Paddy Soil (경운방법(耕耘方法)에 따른 논 토양(土壤)의 이화학성(理化學性) 변화(變化))

  • The change of physico-chemical properties of paddy soil was monitored under different tillage. This study was conducted on Jeonbug silty cly loam, in Honam Agricultural Experiment Station, for four years starting from 1992. Different tillage involved (1)Continued no tillage, (2)Rotavation only with tractor every year, (3)Spring plowing with power tiller plus rotavation with tractor every year. The result of this study can be summarized as: Non tillage, when continued for some years, tended to increase 1)the hardness of soil, 2)the root density in the top soil, 3)the occurrence of annual and perennial weeds, and tended to lower the yield of rice compared to normal tillage(tilling with ow tiller in the spring plus rotavation by tractor before planting.

Geology and Volcanism of Hyeongjeseom (Islet) Volcano, Jeju Island (제주도 형제섬 화산체의 지질과 화산활동)

  • The Hyeongjeseom (Islet) is an erosional remnant of volcano which is located about 2 km northeast of sea shore of the Songaksan tuff ring, and is composed of volcaniclastic deposit, agglomerate and scoria deposit, ponded lava, aa lava flows, reworked deposit and beach deposit in ascending order from the base. The volcano is formed by volcaniclastic deposits and lava flows that recorded a transition from initial phreatomagmatic to magmatic explosions followed by lava effusion. It is interpreted that the outcropped volcaniclastic deposit may be a remaining portion of outer ring of a tuff cone. A bomb and a ponded lava yield geochemically basaltic trachyandesite compositions (SiO2 51.3 wt%, Na2O+K2O 6.0 wt%) and belong to olivine basalt with scarce (<5 %) phenocrysts of olivine, petrographically. By incremental heating Ar-Ar dating method, the plateau age of lava flow in the Heongjesom is 9.2±3.6(2σ) ka, implying that the volcanism of Heongjeseom may have occurred earlier than the Songaksan tuff ring which erupted ca. 3.7 ka. It still remains a task to find a volcano which matches with a historical record of volcanic activity that occurred a thousand years ago.

Soil Characteristic of Plow and Compaction Layer in Fluvio-marine Deposit Paddy Soil (하해혼성 충적층 논토양 작토층과 경반층의 토양특성)

  • This study was conducted to survey, analyze on the compaction layer and the plow layer at Jeonbug and Jisan series paddy soil, which is the representative soil in fluvio-marine and local alluvium, respectively. The depths of surface soil were 12.6 and 12.7 cm in Jeonbug and Jisan series, respectively. A plowing depth was 10.5 cm. The properties of compaction layer in two soil series were as follows. The hardness were $14.7kg\;cm^{-2}(25.3mm)$ and $8.7kg\;cm^{-2}(22.1mm)$ in Jeonbug and Jisan series, respectively. The thickness were 22.3 cm and 17.8 cm in Jeonbug and Jisan series, respectively. The depth of soil compaction, which means depth from surface, were 15 and 20 cm in Jeonbug and Jisan series, respectively. The relationship between the hardness of compaction layer and the depth of surface soil showed negative correlation, however relationship between the hardness and the thickness of compaction layer showed positive correlation. Soil temperature was lower in compaction layer than in plow layer. This temperature differences between compaction layer and plow layer were from 1.0 to $2.5^{\circ}C$ in Jeonbug series and from 0.7 to 2.1 in Jisan series. The soil physical properties of compaction layer were higher in bulk density and solid phase and lower in porosity and gaseous phase than those of plow layer in all soil series. The soil chemical properties of compaction layer were higher in pH, content of available silicate, exchangeable calcium and magnesium but lower in total nitrogen, content of organic matter and available phosphate than those of plow layer in all soil series. Cation exchangeable capacity and content of exchangeable potassium were similar between compaction layer and plow layer in Jeonbug series, however, in Jisan series these were lower in compaction layer than in plow layer. Elution amount of inorganic nitrogen were lower in compaction layer than in plow layer in all soil series. The content of soluble Fe and Mn were plenty in compaction layer compared with plow layer and these tendency was apparent in Jeonbug series. The water depth decrease were fast until the latter part of June, and were slow as $1{\sim}3mm\;day^{-1}$ for July and August, and were fast again from september. Rice roots distributions as each soil series and tillage method were 25 cm at rotary plowing in Jeonbug series, 30 cm at deep plowing in Jeonbug series, and 20 cm at tillage in Jisan series. Dry weight per m2 at heading stage were much in order of deep plowing in Jeonbug series, rotary plowing in Jeonbug series, and tillage in Jisan series.

Numerical Analysis of Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell Stack Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD를 이용한 용융탄산염 연료전지 스택의 수치모사)

  • In this paper, commercial CFD program FLUENT v5.3 is used for simulation of MCFC stack. Besides using conservation equations included in FLUENT by default, mass change, mole fraction change and heat added or removed due to electrochemical reactions and water gas shift reaction are considered by adding several equations using user defined function. The stacks calculated are 6 and 25 kW class coflow stack which are composed of 20 and 40 unit cells respectively. Simulation results showed that pressure drop took place in the direction of gas flow, and the pressure drop of cathode side is more larger than that of anode side. And the velocity of cathode gas decreased along with the gas flow direction, but the velocity of anode gas increased because of the mass and volume changes by the chemical reactions in each electrodes. Simulated temperature profile of the stack tended to increase along with the gas flow direction and it showed similar results with the experimental data. Water gas shift reaction was endothermic at the gas inlet side but it was exothermic at the outlet side of electrode respectively. Therefore water gas shift reaction played a role in increasing temperature difference between inlet and outlet side of stack. This results suggests that the simulation of large scale commercial stacks need to consider water gas shift reaction.

분무진공동결건조기 개발

  • 최근 건조 제품의 양질화, 고급화 및 편의화가 요구되어 이를 충족시키기 위한 새로운 건조방법이 계속 개발 되어 왔다. 이러한 방법들 중에서 저온과 진공하에서 건조가 이루어지는 진공 동결 건조는 가장 완벽한 건조 방법으로 최근 실용화 되고 있다. 진공동결건조란 건조의 한 종류로 수분을 함유한 시료를 동결시킨 후 진공펌프를 이용하여 수증기압을 3중점 이하로 낮추어 얼음을 직접 증기로 만드는 승화의 원리에 의해서 얻어진다. 분무진공동결건조의 특징은 (1) 물리적구조의 보존성, (2) 화학적인 안정성, (3) 생물학적인 활동의 보존성, (4) 제품의 높은 복원성 및 재생성이다. 따라서 분무진공동결건조 기술은 크게 진공, 분무, 동결, 건조, 멸균 등과 같은 요소기술의 복합기술이라 할 수 있다. 분말을 제조하기 위해서 진공동결건조 후 분쇄하는 방법을 사용하나 본 방법에서는 정밀화학품 제조를 위해서 분무진공동결건조 방식을 사용한다. 이를 통하여 적당한 크기인 5~10 um의 입경 제조가 가능하고, 공기동력학적인 입경이 기존 방식에 비해 작아서 허파까지의 운반효율이 1.5~2배 우수하다. 화학, 의학 분야에서의 분무동결 건조는 주로 민감한 제품, 즉 생물학적 고유성의 손상 없이 물을 제거하는데 사용되어 영구적으로 저장 가능한 상태로 보관할 수 있으며 물의 첨가로 원상태로 복구할 수 있어서 매우 각광을 받고 있다. 의약용 냉동건조 제품은 항생물질, 박테리아, 혈청, 백신, 검사 약물, 단백질을 포함하는 생물공학 제품들, 세포, 섬유, 화학제품 등이 있으며 주로 vial 또는 ampule 상태로 건조가 이루어진다.본 연구에서는 원료를 $-194^{\circ}C$의 액체질소에 분무시켜 동결된 미립자를 형성한 후 진공 및 저온상태에서얼음의 승화(sublimation)에 기반한 1차 건조와 수증기 탈착(desorption)에 기초한 2차 건조 과정으로 구성된 분무진공동결건조기를 개발하였다. 분무동결 과정의 해석을 통해 2유체식 노즐을 통해 분무된 미세 입경의 액적이 액체 질소 표면까지 도달하는 회수률, 분무 노즐의 위치, 운전 조건 및 용기의 설계의 최적화를 수행하였다. 초기 액적속도, 분무노즐의 높이, 흡입구 추가에 따른 액적 유동 및 회수의 특성을 제시하였으며 이를 통한 분사시스템 고도화 가능성을 제시하였다. 구형의 미세 입자가 적층된 제품의 동결건조 공정의 해석은 흡착승화 모델(sorption sublimation model)을 기반으로 다음과 같은 열전달, 물질전달, 상변화 모델을 고려하여 유도되었다. 분무노즐 및 냉동/진공 배기계 시작품을 개발하여, 표면의 고다공도를 갖춘 입경 3~20 m 정도의 시료를 얻을 수 있으며, 동역학적 입경 5 m 충족함을 확인하였다.

  • 전자제품 패키지에 요구되는 쿠션성과 정전방전 기능을 갖는 폴리우레탄 발포 필름의 제조기술을 확립하게 되면 IT산업용에 적용 가능한 필름제품이 개발되어 ESD(정전방전, Electrostatic Dissipation) 성능을 발휘하게 됨으로서 정전기 쇼크에 의한 각종 전자제품의 오작동이나 파손 방지가 가능하게 되어 포장재, 자동차 전자제품의 하우징 등으로 사용될 수 있게 된다. 전도성 고분자인 Polyaniline (PANI)은 다른 여러 고분자와 비교하여 볼 때 다른 유형의 전도성 고분자보다 합성하기가 쉽고 높은 전기전도도를 보임은 물론 열적 및 대기 안정성이 우수하며 가격이 저렴한 장점을 가지고 있다. 본연구는 CNT 나노기술을 응용한 IT산업용 적층간지용 ESD PU발포필름의 제조 가공기술 및 상품화 개발을 수행하고자 방수, 투습방수성을 가지는 유연재료인 폴리우레탄(PU)의 1액형 PU와 DMF에 PANI의 함량을 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30wt%로 변화시켜 제조한 PANI/DMF 분산용액과 IPA/MWNT 3wt% 분산용액의 혼용비에 변화를 주어 $120^{\circ}C$에서 2분 건조시켜 그라운드 필름을 제조하였다. 그리고 2액형 PU와 IPA/MWNT 3wt% 분산용액과 발포제를 사용하여 발포온도 $150^{\circ}C$에서 5분간 건조시켜 발포필름을 제조하였으며 이들의 전기적 특성과 역학적 특성을 조사하였다. 제조된 필름의 전기전도성은 전기저항측정기 KEITHLEY 8009를 사용하여 부피저항과, 표면저항을 각각 측정하여 확인하였으며, 필름의 마찰 대전압은 E.S.T-7 마찰 대전압 시험기를 이용하여 표면 마찰 대전압을 측정하여 확인하고, 필름의 물리적 특성은 인장시험기를 이용하여 breaking stress, breaking strain을 측정하였다. 필름단면의 CNT 발포특성은 주사전자현미경(SEM)을 사용하여 측정하여 발포특성과 물성과의 연관성을 확인하였다. 그 결과 필름의 전기적 특성은 PANI가 30% 함량일 때 전반적으로 낮은 저항값이 측정되었으며, 마찰대전압을 측정한 결과 대부분의 시료가 0에 가까운 낮은 값을 가졌다. 필름의 물리적 인장특성은 PANI가 10wt%의 함량일 때 가장 높은 절단강도를 가졌으며 분산용액의 혼용비에 따른 경향성은 나타나지 않았다. 필름의 단면형상을 확인하여 발포특성을 분석한 결과 PANI의 함량에 따라 발포 cell의 크기는 뚜렷한 경향성을 보이지 않았으나 30wt%의 PANI/DMF 분산용액 20part(gr)와 3wt% IPA/MWNT 분산용액 40part(gr)로 제조한 시료의 cell이 가장 균일하고 고르게 발포되었으며, 3.90E+06ohm으로 가장 낮은 표면저항 값으로 측정되어 가장 좋은 전기전도성을 가짐을 확인하였다.

Comparison of the Dehumidification Performance Between LiCl and LiBr in a Liquid Desiccant Dehumidifying Element Having Criss-Cross Sinusoidal Channels (Celdek) (교차 적층된 파형 액체 제습 소자 (Celdek)에서 LiCl과 LiBr 수용액의 제습 성능 비교)

  • Recently, liquid desiccant systems have received attention for the dehumidification of air. LiCl and LiBr are widely used in liquid desiccant systems due to their excellent thermo-physical properties. In this study, dehumidification tests were conducted with Celdek elements using LiCl and LiBr. During the tests, the dry and wet-bulb air temperatures were maintained at $35^{\circ}C$ and $28^{\circ}C$, respectively. The solution temperature was $20^{\circ}C$, the solution concentration was 50%, the solution circulation rate was 50 kg/h, and the frontal air velocity was varied from 2.0 to 4.0 m/s. The results show that the amount of dehumidification increased as the frontal velocity increased. On average, LiCl showed 27% higher dehumidification performance than LiBr, which was probably due to the lower saturation of the absolute humidity of LiCl compared with that of LiBr. On the other hand, LiBr yielded 12% larger pressure drop than LiCl. In general, the Sherwood numbers of LiCl and LiBr were approximately the same, showing that the effect of the desiccant on the Sherwood number was insignificant. Existing correlations highly overpredicted the present Sherwood numbers.

Dielectric properties of low temperature firing glass reacted (Ba, Sr)$TiO_3$$ ceramic capacitors (저온소결용 (Ba, Sr)$TiO_3$-Glass계 세라믹스의 유전특성)

  • Low temperature firing $(Ba, Sr)TiO_{3}$ dielectrics were successfully prepared with lead based glass and those electrical properties were investigated. Different amount of PbO content glass materials were added to dielectrics to investigate the sinterability and its dielectric properties. Also, various compositions of ceramic capacitors were prepared to applicate in multilayer ceramic capacitors. A large amount of experiment has been done with various Pb contented glasses and different sintering temperatures. The sintering temperature of $(Ba,Sr)TiO_{3}$can be reduced from $1350^{\circ}C$to as low as $1050^{\circ}C$ with 4wt% addition of $PbO-ZnO-B_{2}O_{2}$ glass materials. Its dielectric constant at room temperature was up to 8100 with low dielectric loss, 0.005. This ceramic capacitor showed fully fired microstructures with its grain size of 1-3$\mu \textrm{m}$. The sintered body which was sintered at $1150^{\circ}C$ for 2hr with 4wt% $PbO-ZnO-B_{2}O_{2}$ glass material addition satisfied the Z5U specification of the EIAS.
