The data was collected using questionnaires from 212 nursing students who were 3rd and 4th years in 2 nursing universities in Daejeon, September 2014. Data was analyzed using Pearson correlation and stepwise multiple regression with IBM SPSS 21. Significant relationships were found among self-esteem, empathy, communication skill and clinical competency in nursing students. The result of stepwise multiple regression indicates that communication skill and self-esteem (F=37.010, p<.001) predicts 26.2% in clinical competency. The most powerful predictor was communication skill(${\beta}$=.384, p<.001), next one was self-esteem(${\beta}$=.283, p<.001). In conclusion, to enhance clinical competency for nursing students, it is necessary to develop and utilize a program that enhances communication skill and self-esteem.

Data collection was conducted from May to July 2015 for 3 nursing students. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, tukey post hoc test, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression. There were significant differences in depression with grade and school life satisfaction, self-esteem in sex, grade, grade, and school life satisfaction and suicidal ideation showed differences in school life satisfaction. There were positive correlation between depression and suicidal ideation, while there were negative correlation between self-esteem and suicidal ideation, and depression. The factors affecting suicidal ideation were depression(${\beta}=.346$, p=.000) and self-esteem(${\beta}=-.290$, p=.000). The explanatory power of the variables was 33.2%. This study suggests that a systematic education on depression and self-esteem is needed to reduce the suicidal ideation of nursing college students.

  • The purpose of the present study was to examine the causal relationship between aggression and mobile phone dependency among high school students and to test the mediating effect of self-esteem, and to draw out implications in order to encourage proper use of mobile phone. In this paper, we proposed a research model between aggression, self-esteem and mobile phone dependency. The present study analyzed the fourth, fifth, and sixth wave data from KCYPS 2010, using the structural equation modeling. The primary results were as follows. First, the effect of high school students' aggression on mobile phone dependency was not significant. Second, high school students' aggression had a significantly negative effect on self-esteem. Third, high school students' self-esteem had a significantly positive effect on mobile phone dependency. Fourth, high school students' self-esteem could be a significant mediator between aggression and mobile phone dependency. In conclusion, theoretical and practical suggestions were discussed in order to solve the problem of adolescents' mobile phone dependency.

For this purpose, the survey data from the 4th to 6th years of the Multicultural Youth Panel Survey were used for the analysis. As a result of the analysis, life satisfaction, self-esteem, and family support decreased for 3 years through each linear change model. As a result of examining the longitudinal mediating effects of self-esteem and family support between acculturation stress and life satisfaction through the multivariate potential growth model, the mediating effect of self-esteem and family support was confirmed. Based on these results, practical implications for improving life satisfaction, self-esteem, and family support of multicultural youth were presented.

Among the Korea Children Youth Panel Survey conducted by National Youth Policy Institute, the data of 2,438 first-year middle school students in 2018 year were analyzed. The collected data were analyzed using hierarchical cluster analysis and k-mean cluster analysis. As a result, the adolescent's perceived parenting attitude was classified into four types: 'passive affection acceptance', 'active affection acceptance', 'authoritarian inconsistency', and 'lack of affection rejection'. Also, there were significant differences in self-esteem and the degree of grit among the four clusters of parenting attitudes. Both self-esteem and grit were highest in the "active affection acceptance" group 2. In the future, differentiated parental education is needed for each cluster to improve self-esteem and grit of adolescents, and this study can be used as a basic data for the development of educational programs.
