The fourth year data of The Korean Children Panel of the KICCE(2011) was used, and the collected data was fathers and mothers with 1,754 children who are more than 35 months but not more than 42 months. For data analysis, analysis of frequency and correlation analysis were carried out using SPSS 18.0, and they were analysed with Structural Model to observe the relationship of each variable and influence, and it was found that the goodness of fit of the model was outstanding. As a result, the psychological traits of fathers impact directly on mothers' parenting stress. Mothers' psychological features increased mothers' parenting stress by a medium of fathers' parenting stress. The study showed that fathers' parenting stress that is a mediator variable performed a role as a mediator variable.

  • This research investigates gifted students' mothers' rearing stress based on the concept mapping method. For this, 12 gifted students' mothers solicited, gathered and analyzed related statements, and then did multidimensional scaling and hierarchical cluster analysis. The stress value was .273 which was appropriate for the two level concept mapping study. In addition 101 mothers of gifted students rated for the rearing stresses they experience. Results were as follows. First, 79 concrete statements were solicited and as a result of concept mapping were categorized as 'burden and conflict as mothers of the gifted', 'possible negative characteristics due to the giftedness', and 'self-esteem and pressure by the title of the gifted'. Especially following items showed relatively high average: worrying about how to give the child a specific help for his/her career(M=4.65); worrying that she might be intervening too much in their child's behaviors(M=4.60); getting pressured supporting the child to get involved in the gifted education system continually(M=4.46); worrying if her child is not developing his/her talent enough due to the lack of time and money(M=4.44); being concerned that her high expectations might be putting her child under too much pressure (M=4.43). Implications of the study related to gifted education practices were discussed.

  • This study aimed to figure out the factors affecting the self-esteem of children. For this purpose, 296 fosterers (those who use the children education institutions) were targeted to analyze the factors affecting the self-esteem of children. The factors can be categorized as the personal internal factors (problematic behavior and self-control capability of the children) and the environmental factors (parenting efficacy and parenting stress of the fosterers). As a result, self-assessment, depression, emotionality, and behavioral restriction factors of the children and child-rearing efficacy, and the child-rearing stress of the fosterers were proven to be influential; these two factors have 50.5% of the explanation power. In conclusion, if self-assessment, emotionality, and behavioral control of the children and rearing efficacy of the fosterers were high, self-esteem of the children was increased. However, if depression of the children and rearing stress of the fosterers were high, self-esteem of the children was decreased. This result suggests a need of program development and a new teaching method to reduce problematic behavior of the children and rearing stress of the fosterers, as well as to enhance rearing efficacy of the fosterers and self-control capability of the children for the purpose to increase self-esteem of the children.

Results: The adolescents used approach coping frequently and their depression was $54.87({\pm}14.06)$. However, adolescents' approach coping and overall self-concept were negatively correlated with parenting stress, and were significantly correlated with parenting stress in both mothers and fathers including depression. Mothers' and fathers' mean parenting stress scores and patterns were similar, but relationship patterns for parenting stress and adolescents' Seeking Guidance subscale scores differed between mothers and fathers. Conclusion: These findings could be useful in supporting school-based mental health services for adolescents, through the development of parenting roles.

  • The following research is based on a strengths perspective for analyzing the effects of adaptation resilience on parenting stress. The subject were 170mothers whose children have developmental disabilities and attend pre-school and social welfare centers for early education. The results were following: 1) The order of dimensional scores from highest to lowest were social resources, structuralization of personality, social achievement, personal strengths, perception of future, strength of family cohesion. 2) The parenting stress of the subjects came out to be lower than average scoring 2.71 out of 5. Dimensionally, grief of parents came out to be the highest. 3) Adaptation resilience and parenting stress for subjects exhibited a negative correlation. Within adaptation resilience, the dimensions of perception of future, personal strengths, social resources came out to be factors that have significant effects on parenting stress. 4) factors relating to the mother's adaptation resilience were more important than general characteristics belonging to handicapped children and their mothers for the purpose of explaining and predicting parenting stress.

  • The purpose of this study is to confirm whether the parenting stress of mothers with preschool children mediated the parent-child interaction and parenting attitude on children's learning readiness. Data was used from the 5th (2012) to 7th (2014) Korean Children's Panel, and a total of 1,480 data sets were used for the analysis. The age of study participants was five years old. The Amos 23.0 program was used as an analytical tool, and the structural equation model analysis was applied to estimate the path coefficient corresponding to the research question. First, it was expected that mothers' parenting stress negatively affected the parent-child interaction, mother's parenting attitude, and children's readiness. Second, it was assumed that parent-child interaction and the mother's warm parenting attitude were positively significant to children's readiness. Third, the relationship between the parenting stress of mothers and children's learning readiness was partially mediated by a positive parenting attitude. The current study supplies valuable data to establish the educational support and efficiency strategy for domestic children. This study is meaningful in that it provides basic data in preparing a plan to more effectively provide educational support for domestic children.
