Regeneration of the Retarded Time Vector for Enhancing the Precision of Acoustic Pyrometry (온도장 측정 정밀도 향상을 위한 시간 지연 벡터의 재형성)

  • An approximation of speed of sound in the measurement plane is essential for the inverse estimation of temperature. To this end, an inverse problem relating the measured retarded time data in between set of sensors and actuators array located on the wall is formulated. The involved transfer matrix and its coefficient vectors approximate speed of sound of the measurement plane by using the radial basis function with finite number of interpolation points deployed inside the target field. Then, the temperature field can be reconstructed by using spatial interpolation technique, which can achieve high spatial resolution with proper number of interpolation points. A large number of retarded time data of acoustic paths in between sensors and arrays are needed to obtain accurate reconstruction result. However, the shortage of interpolation points due to practical limitations can cause the decrease of spatial resolution and deterioration of the reconstruction result. In this works, a regeneration for obtaining the additional retarded time data for an arbitrary acoustic path is suggested to overcome the shortage of interpolation points. By applying the regeneration technique, many interpolation points can be deployed inside the field by increasing the number of retarded time data. As a simulation example, two rectangular duct sections having arbitrary temperature distribution are reconstructed by two different data set: measured data only, combination of measured and regenerated data. The result shows a decrease in reconstruction error by 15 % by combining the original and regenerated retarded time data.

Generalized Hough Transform using Internal Gradient Information (내부 그레디언트 정보를 이용한 일반화된 허프변환)

  • The generalized Hough transform (GHough) is a useful technique for detecting and locating 2-D model. However, GHough requires a 4-D parameter array and a large amount of time to detect objects of unknown scale and orientation because it enumerates all possible parameter values into a 4-D parameter space. Several n-to-1 mapping algorithms were proposed to reduce the parameter space from 4-D to 2-D. However, these algorithms are very likely to fail due to the random votes cast into the 2-D parameter space. This paper proposes to use internal gradient information in addition to the model boundary points to reduce the number of random votes cast into 2-D parameter space. Experimental result shows that our proposed method can reduce both the number of random votes cast into the parameter space and the execution time effectively.

Automatic Design of FSS with Arbitrary Pattern (임의의 패턴을 갖는 FSS의 자동 설계)

  • This paper proposes the efficient system for automatic design of FSS(Frequency Selective Surface) with periodic pattern and frequency characteristics specified by operator. The proposed system derives optimal design parameters through tool for analysis of FSS with arbitrary pattern, DB(Data Base) implemented from limited simulation and measurement data of FSS, and GA(Genetic Algorithm) for optimizing design parameters. FSS analysis tool consists of two analysis tools. One is the simulator for analysis of monolayer FSS that using moment method, another is the tool with approximated analysis method of FSS with dielectric layer. Given pattern configuration and characteristics specified by operators, the DB system searches the best matching FSS, and provides initial genes to GA from the searched parameters, which drastically reduces running time of GA for finding the FSS design parameters. In this paper, the proposed design system is verified through simulation and measurement about FSS with various patterns.

A Shortest Bypass Search Algorithm by using Positions of a Certain Obstacle Boundary (임의형태의 장애물 경계정보를 이용한 최소거리 우회경로 탐색 알고리즘)

  • Currently used shortest path search algorithms involve graphs with vertices and weighted edges between each vertex. However, when finding the shortest path with a randomly shaped obstacle(an island, for instance) positioned in between the starting point and the destination, using such algorithms involves high memory inefficiency and is significantly time consuming - all positions in the map should be considered as vertices and every line connecting any of the two adjacent vertices should be considered an edge. Therefore, we propose a new method for finding the shortest path in such conditions without using weighted graphs. This algorithm will allow finding the shortest obstacle bypass given only the positions of the obstacle boundary, the starting point and the destination. When the row and column size of the minimum boundary rectangle to include an obstacle is m and n, respectively, the proposed algorithm has the maximum time complexity, O(mn). This performance shows the proposed algorithm is very efficient comparing with the currently used algorithms.

  • This study is intended to evaluate the characteristics of smoke spreading and the appropriateness of evacuation time extended by operation of smoke control system during fire within the underground space of the building structured in compliance with the smoke control system performance criteria from the local fire safety standard in Korea. As a preceding review of this study, the combustibles was categorized and identified their heat release rates. For validate the estimated values, modeling a single underground shop was carried out. And a numerical analysis both in case of smoke control system in operation and the system not in operation was carried out of underground space. From the viewpoint of securing the evacuation time, the results were compared in an attempt to assess the appropriateness of the fire safety criteria.

  • This paper presents an analysis of the wave propagation in cross-type tunnels using the finite volume time domain (FVTD) method. Because the FVTD method is based on the volume intergrations of themaxwell's equations with respected to arbitrary shaped small polyhedron cells and the fields at every center point of the cells ar eassigned in a average fashion, the method can handle arbitrary boundary problems with inhomogeneous media. In this paper, the wave propagation in cross-type tunnels has been analyzed using the fVTD method with the PML (perfectly matched layer) absorbing bundary conditons, and the numerical results are verified with a set of experimental data.

  • In this paper, we propose a new scheme that improve the performance of the conventional link access scheme in DSRC MAC and evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme. By using carrier sensing mechanism in random access channels, the proposed scheme can reduce the probability that the collisions among the link access traffics with different priorities may occur in random access channels, and provide differentiated link access delays according to the priorities. Furthermore, the proposed scheme can improve the performance of link access by using modified reservation mode. According to simulation results, it is shown that the proposed scheme is better than conventional method in view of the mean access delay and throughput in random access channels.

Parrondo effect in correlated random walks with general jumps (일반 점프크기를 가지는 상관 확률보행의 파론도 효과)

  • We consider a correlated discrete-time random walk in which the current jump size depends on the previous jump size and a noncorrelated discrete-time random walk where the jump size is determined independently. By using the strong law of large numbers of Markov chains we derive the formula for the asymptotic means of the random mixture and the periodic pattern of these two random walks and then we show that there exists Parrondo's paradox where each random walk has mean 0 but their random mixture and periodic pattern have negative or positive means. We describe the parameter sets at which Parrondo's paradox holds in each case.

  • This paper deals with a stochastic stabilization of observer-based output-feedback control Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy system with Markovian input delay. The finite Markovian process is adopted to model the input delay of the overall control system. It is assumed that the zero and hold devices are used for control input. The continuous-time T-S fuzzy system with the Markovian input delay is discretized for easy handling delay, accordingly, the discretized T-S fuzzy system is represented by a discrete-time T-S fuzzy system with jumping parameters. The stochastic stabilizability of the jump T-S fuzzy system is derived and formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). The usefulness of the proposed algorithm is also certificated by simulation of 2 degree of freedom helicopter model.

  • In this paper, when points with weights are given in a plane, for an arbitrary constant r, we shall find a square area S such that the sum of weights of points belonging to S is maximized. If the length of the side of S is not given, the problem to find arbitrary rectangular area has been studied. In this paper, we will consider the problem to find a square area with a side of a length r when a constant r is given. We will solve the one dimensional problem in dynamic environment and propose an algorithm with the time complexity of O(nlogn+rn).
