  • The design concept of diesel engines for sea-going ships has been directed to Low-speed/Long-Stroke type to improve the efficiencies of combustion and propelling. But the time-delay property inevitable at such low speed engines gives much difficulties for governors to control the engine speed because they would be apt to go into unstable region especially when operating at low speed. The purpose of this paper is to study the problem of how the governor gain can be calculated dynamically in accordance with the variance of engine speed at least for an engine to be stable. In this study, the property of diesel engine was described as composed of combustion element including dead time and rotating element, and the ultimate gain for the speed control system to be located on the condition of stability limit was proposed based on the frequency characteristics. And the target gains with optimized stability also were proposed by giving proper margin to these ultimate conditions. The results were applied to a model system and the availability was confirmed to be satisfactory.

An Analytic Study on the Relations between the Ziegler-Nichols Tuning Methods for Controllers (지글러-니콜스 제어파라미터 조정법 (1), (2)의 연관성에 대한 해석적 연구)

  • Parameter tuning methods by Ziegler-Nichols for PID controllers are generally classified into Z-N(1) and Z-N(2). The purpose of this paper is to describe what relations exist between the methods of Z-N(1) and Z-N(2), or how Z-N(1) can be originated from Z-N(2) by analyzing one loop control system composing of P or PI controller and time delay process. In this paper, for the first step to seek mutual relations, the simple formulas of Z-N(2) are transformed into those composing of the same parameters as Z-N(1) which is derived from the analysis of frequency characteristics. Then, the approximation of the actual ultimate frequency is proposed as important premise in the translation between Z-N(1) and (2). Such equalization and approximation brings a simple approximated formula which can explain how Z-N(1) is originated from the Z-N(2) in the form of formula.

  • In this paper, we present the results of implementing an interactive lecturer introduction game that allows new students or freshmen to learn about their lecturer's information using a Digital Game-based Learning (DGBL) methodology. This game provides information such as the lecturer's name, photo, the courses that they teach in the form of a quiz game, with Unity and PHP used as the development environment. Communication between the game, Content Management System (CMS), and the database is by using the REST API, which enables the administrator to manage the content of the game such as score and number of questions for each level, user's password, and performance threshold, as well as the lecturer's information itself. Since the developed interactive game uses an integrated CMS, the content can be updated dynamically according to the situation, therefore, it can be easily applied to other departments, as well as other various educational games.

User Behavior Analysis for Online Game Bot Detection (온라인 게임 봇 탐지를 위한 사용자 행위 분석)

  • Among the various security threats in online games, the use of game bots is the most serious problem. In this paper, we propose a framework for user behavior analysis for bot detection in online games. Specifically, we focus on party play that reflects the social activities of gamers: In a Massively Multi-user Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG), party play log includes a distinguished information that can classify game users under normal-user and abnormal-user. That is because the bot users' main activities target on the acquisition of cyber assets. Through a statistical analysis of user behaviors in game activity logs, we establish the threshold levels of the activities that allow us to identify game bots. Also, we build a knowledge base of detection rules based on this statistical analysis. We apply these rule reasoner to the sixth most popular online game in the world. As a result, we can detect game bot users with a high accuracy rate of 95.92%.

Auto Thresholding for Efficient Neurofeedback Trainning (효과적인 뉴로피드백 훈련을 위한 임계값 설정 기법)

  • We develop a complete system that includes data collection, signal processing, and real-time interaction for effective neurofeedback training. Our system supports a sophisticated technique to find threshold values which are quite important for effective neurofeedback system. A therapist specifies a target success rate of positive feedback, allowable error and time. The system computes a current success rate and compare it with the target one. If the difference between two rates exceeds the allowable error for allowable time, we find an optimum threshold value to obtain the target success rate by using numerical optimization technique. We conduct several experiments by varying input parameters: target success rate, allowable error and time, and demonstrate the effectiveness of our technique by showing the desired target success rate is stably obtained and systematically controlled by input parameters.

  • 제3세대 이동 통신 시스템에서 상향 링크와 하향 링크 사이에 불균형적인 타임 슬롯 할당이 가능한 TD/CDMA TDD 시스템은 비대칭적인 트래픽을 효과적으로 분배하는데 적합하다. 게다가 TD/CDMA TDD 시스템은 슬롯이 시간 영역과 코드 영역에서 정의되기 때문에 유효 자원의 statistical multiplexing이 매우 효과적이다. 그러나 상향 링크와 하향 링크사이의 트래픽의 비대칭성을 반영하기 위해서 타임 슬롯을 최적으로 할당시킬 수 있는 동적 경계선이 요구된다. 본 논문에서 슬롯의 하향 링크부분이 이동국의 접근 시도의 정도에 따라 최대화되는 새로운 최적의 TDD 경계선 제어 움직임 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안된 알고리즘에서 이동국의 평균 접근 시도가 미리 정의된 상한 임계치를 초과할 경우, TDD 경계선은 평균 접근 시도가 다른 하한 임계치 아래로 내려갈 때까지 프레임의 중앙에 위치한다. 본 논문에서 모의실험 결과를 통하여 제안된 알고리즘이 기존의 TDD 경계선 알고리즘보다 데이터 트래픽의 평균 접근 지연과 음성 트래픽의 블록킹 확률 측면에서 훨씬 더 좋은 성능을 나타냄을 입증하였다.

A Gesture-based Game Interface using HMM (HMM을 이용한 제스처 기반의 게임 인터페이스)

  • 본 논문에서는 컴퓨터 액션 게임 중에 하나인, 퀘이크 II 게임을 위한 제스처 기반의 인터페이스를 제안한다. 제안된 인터페이스는 연속된 입력 영상열로부터 재스처를 검출하고 인식하기 위해 HMM 올 사용한다. 먼저 재스처를 검출하기 위해 입력 영상열로부터 포즈 심볼열을 추출하여 사용한다. 인식하기 위해 사용된 HMM은 추출된 포즈 심볼을 입력받아, 상태 확률값을 계산하여 계속적으로 갱신한다 이때 갱신되는 상태 확률값 중에 각 제스처에 속하는 특정상태의 확률값이, 미리 정의된 임계간과 비교하여 초과하면 검출되고 인식된다. 현재 제안된 시스템은 실제 퀘이크 II 게임에서 키보드버튼과 마우스를 통해 입력되는 명령어들 중에서 게임을 진행하기 위해 먼저 필요한 움지임과 시점 변환에 관계되는 명령어들을 13 개의 제스처로 표현하고 이 제스처 명령어를 검출하고 인식한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 가변블록에 대해 DCT와 VQ를 적용함으로써 복원시 영상의 품질을 원하는 수준으로 유지하면서 비트율을 감소시키는 방법을 제안한다. 각 블록에 대해 임계값 에 따라 블록의 크기를 세분화 시켜 최종적인 블록에 대해 DCT와 VQ를 적용한다. 제안된 방법에서 12개의 영상에 대한 PSNR과 비트율을 비교했을 때 기존의 방법보다 비트율이 크 게 감소함을 보여주고 있다.

  • Increase of internet users and new type of applied traffic such as game, news, distributed computing, online image conference, and real time audio and video have leaded to demand for more bandwidth for each application. This algorithm represents a complex optical exchanger having typical wavelength switching function and time-slotted transmission function. Performance assessment of the proposed OXC (Optical Cross connect) sttucture defines LFS (Limit Frame Size) and VFS (Variable Frame Size) for classification by packet type and calculates the channel effect and loss probability depending the demanded bandwidth by access node increase. Optical exchanger in this type of structure can guarantee future network expansion as well as decrease of frame collision resulted from node increase.

  • Parameter tuning methods by Ziegler-Nickels for control systems are generally classified into Z-N(1) and Z-N(2). The purpose of this paper is to describe what relations exist between methods of Z-N(1) and Z-N(2), or how Z-N(1) method can be originated from Z-N(2) method by analyzing one loop control system of P or PI controller and time delay process. The formulas of Z-N(1) consist of process parameters, L(time delay), $K_m$(gain) and $T_m$(time constant), but Z-N(2) method is based only on the ultimate gain $K_u$ and the ultimate period $T_u$ acquired normally by practical trial without any parameters of Z-N(1). In this paper, for the first step to seek mutual relations, the simple formulas of Z-N(2) are transformed into the formulas composed of the same parameters as Z-N(1) which is derived from the analysis of frequency characteristics.
