This study aimed to examine whether there are differences in reading performance between digital and print media by measuring reading speed of paragraphs on print materials and tablet PC. To investigate whether the physical characteristics of the media influence reading performance, the format of text was kept as similar as possible between print and digital media. We also compared conditions in which paragraphs consisted of either long or short sentences to explore if there were differential effects on reading performance based on sentence length across different media. Additionally, reading speed was analyzed based on reading span to investigate whether there were differences in reading performance according to participants' working memory capacity. As a result, reading speed was faster when reading print media compared to digital media. However, there was no difference in reading speed based on the length of sentences composing the paragraphs. Participants with a higher reading span exhibited faster reading speed compared to participants with a lower reading span. Moreover, participants with a higher reading span read paragraphs composed of long sentences faster on print media than on digital media. The findings of this study suggest that visual fatigue induced by tablet PCs and participants' working memory capacity may impact reading speed.

가독성이란 글을 읽음에 있어 얼마나 쉽게 쓰여졌는가, 얼마나 흥미로운가의 정도를 나타낸다. 기존 연구에서는 가독성을 측정함에 있어 인쇄물에 한정하고 글의 구성 관점에서만을 반영하였다. 하지만, 글은 인쇄물뿐만 아니라 모바일, 태블릿 등 다양한 읽기 매체를 통해 읽어질 수 있으며 글의 흥미에 따라 가독성이 달라지므로 기존의 연구 방법으로는 적절히 반영할 수 없다. 본 논문에서는 읽기 매체에 따라 가독성이 어떻게 달라지는지, 가독성을 측정함에 있어 관점들이 어떻게 반영되는지를 살펴보고자 한다. 서로 다른 읽기 매체들을 사용하여 동일한 뉴스 기사에 대해 가독성을 측정하였으며, 측정된 결과를 사용하여 각 읽기 매체가 가독성를 측정하는 요소들 중 어떤 요소에 큰 영향을 받는지를 살펴본다. 또한, 가독성을 측정함에 있어 글의 구성뿐만 아니라 흥미 관점을 추가하였으며, 이로부터 가독성의 요소들이 글의 구성 관점과 흥미 관점에서 어떠한 차이점을 보이는지 살펴본다.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to identify changes in reading ability among children with Borderline Intelligence by applying an electronic media reading training protocol. Methods : A picture book reading training protocol was applied to 10 childrens with borderline intelligence using electronic media to improve reading skills. This protocol was performed for 10 session once a week. After the analysis of the content validity index about the protocol presented in this study, this prococol was applied to the subjects. To analyze the changes of the reading ability for the subjects, KNISE-BAAT type A and B reading test were used. Results : According to the tests taken before and after implementing, the Application of Picture Booking Training Protocol using Electronic Media there was a significant improvement in Reading ability (Understanding words, Completion sentence, Vocabulary selection, Vocabulary arrangement, Understanding short text). However, there was no significant difference in Oral Reading. Conclusion : Application of Picture Booking Training Protocol using Electronic Media may be used as a beneficial measure to improve the reading abilities of children with Borderline Intellectual.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the meaning of picture book reading experience for 2-year-old children using sensory reading media and to suggest a plan to support language ability through meaningful reading. For this study, 35-month-old boys were selected, and data collection was conducted based on participant observation and field record notes at home and analyzed qualitatively. In this study, for about two months from March 20th to April 30th, 2021, all the time of exploring picture books and playing were recorded and the data were collected. The recording time was about 20 hours, and the collected data and field records were transcribed on 108 pages of A4 paper. The results of the study showed that 2-year-old infants were immersed in exploring new media through the experience of reading picture books using sensory reading media, comparing with similar media, and reading picture books using media. In addition, it was found that the emergence of leading reading that selects and reads books by Hans himself, exploration using reading media, and play linked to picture books in everyday life.This can be seen as a result of suggesting that the picture book reading experience of 2-year-olds using sensory reading media is meaningful to the reading experience of infants.

This study proposes a medium-specific reading instruction method for digital natives exposed to various reading media with the development of information and communication technology. For this purpose, an elementary school located in H-si, Gyeonggi-do was selected and the readability and literacy tests according to the media were conducted for 6th graders. In the experiment, the same article contents were divided into three groups, and the time required to read and read using different media was measured, and the literacy according to the media was confirmed through quizzes. As a result of the measurement, the average reading time of the web-page was 3 minutes 28 seconds, the quiz correct answer rate (average) 3.99 questions, the average reading time of the pdf file in the form of an e-book was 5 minutes 23 seconds, the correct answer rate (average) 4.35 questions, the average reading time of the printed text was 7 minutes 14 seconds, and the correct answer rate (average) 6.26 questions. The number of students who participated in the experiment is 144, and there is a limit to generalizing the reading method according to the media type only with the results of the researcher's experiment.

컴퓨터와 통신 기술이 발달한 정보화 사회의 현실에서 웹 기반의 프로그램 및 모바일은 중요한 매체로서 자리잡아가고 있다. 읽기는 정보 획득에서 가장 중요한 학습능력이나 학습장애아의 대부분이 읽기능력에서 문제를 가지고 있다. 오늘날 컴퓨터의 발달은 아동의 언어교육 특히 읽기 교육을 위해서 시간과 공간의 제약을 넘어 자주적으로 학습할 수 있는 모바일 활용 학습을 가능하게 하고 있다. 본 논문의 목적은 학습장애아들의 읽기 능력을 향상하기 위한 PREP 기반의 모바일 시스템을 설계하는 데 있다. 본 시스템을 통해 첫째, 학습장애아들의 읽기 능력 프로그램이 특수교사, 일반교사, 학생과 상호협력 할 수 있는 프로그램을 제공함으로써 학습장애아의 읽기 능력에 대한 진전도를 점검하고 학습능력을 향상시킬 수 있도록 설계하였다. 둘째, 학습자의 개별적 수준에 따라 수준별 학습을 제공하여 다양한 학생의 개별적 수준을 충족할 수 있도록 설계함으로써 학습장애아동의 읽기능력 향상에 기여할 수 있다. 셋째, 모바일 기기를 통해 공간적, 시간적 제약을 벗어남으로써 기존의 PREP 프로그램을 적용하는 것보다 효과적으로 읽기 능력을 향상시킬 수 있다.

SSD를 멀티미디어 스트리밍 서버 환경에서 저장매체로 사용하기 위한 연구가 최근 활발하게 일어나고 있으나, 아직 비싼 가격을 갖는 SSD의 단점으로 인해 HDD를 온전히 대체하는 방향으로는 진행되지 못하고 있다. 그 대안으로 HDD와 함께 사용하면서 상대적으로 더 빠른 읽기 성능을 활용하여 읽기 캐시로 사용하고자 하는 방향으로 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 SSD를 HDD의 읽기 캐시로 사용하면서 기존의 방식과는 달리 데이터의 전부를 SSD 또는 HDD에 두는 모델을 사용하지 않고, 멀티미디어 데이터의 일부를 SSD에, 그리고 나머지를 HDD에 두는 모델을 제안한다. 이 모델은 스트리밍 환경을 고려하여 빠른 초기 반응을 필요로 하는 멀티미디어 데이터의 앞 부분을 더 빠른 속도의 SSD를 통해 서비스하고, SSD가 서비스를 수행하는 동안 HDD에서 나머지 부분을 서비스함으로써 빠른 초기 반응 시간과 함께 두 저장매체 모두의 대역폭을 최대로 사용할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다.

This study investigated differences in children's story comprehension as they related to the types of reading media. The participants comprised 62 four-years-olds from two child-care centers located in a middle-income region of Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. In order to control the experience effect, newly developed stories published into two formats of reading media (paperback books and electronic books) were provided to the participants. The results indicated that there were no significant differences in children's story comprehension depending on the types of reading media. Paperback book readers and electronic book readers did not show any significant difference in story comprehension, which consists of recall, recognition and reasoning tasks. As literature pertaining to children's usage of electronic books is limited, the present study offers guidelines for the development of children's reading media and may serve as a useful resource for future studies.

Recently, a memory management strategy that utilizes read and write references separately is attracting attention. This is due to the emergence of new storage media with asymmetric read/write latencies and different read/write access characteristics of software. Existing research assumes that operating systems can differentiate between read/write references that occur on each memory page, but most memory architectures do not support a way to distinguish them. Unlike previous studies, this paper proposes a software method that reflects the read/write characteristics of page references by utilizing the reference and modified bits of each page. Simulations show that the proposed policy has almost similar effects to existing studies with hardware support.

The works of a literary and cultural historian Franco Moretti are conspicuous in many ways. Trained in Marxism and Russian formalism, he participated in the construction of the New Left in England. Also, he interestingly interpreted the socialization of the individual through the genre of bildungsroman. Then, he shifted his research interest to the notion of world literature, and to explore its global scale, he developed his own quantitative approach combined with advanced computer technology in digital humanities. His recent publication reveals that Moretti conducted a social critique of the European bourgeois culture with his new quantitative method. His macroscopic view of literature and use of cutting-edge technology in his research inspire historians of Korean literature located in the so-called periphery of world literature. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the idea of world literature outlined by Franco Moretti by reviewing his method called "distant reading" and examples of such an approach. His distant reading is to construct a macroscopic archive through inclusion of forgotten works from literary history and to analyze morphological patterns that frequently appear in the archive. His book entitled Graphs, Maps, Trees is a collection of examples of which he applied distant reading. By delving into such cases, I will raise questions about Moretti's macroscopic perspective of world literature in conjunction with Korean literature. As located at the periphery of global circulation of literary knowledge, Korea appropriated Western genres, established its literary institutions, and developed book markets through modern newspapers and magazines. This experience of furthering modern literature through periodicals would provide another view to revisit Moretti's world literature.
