A Study on the Effect of Neurofeedback Traing on the hearing impairments Student about Resistance Stress (청각장애 학생들의 일상적 스트레스 저항능력에 뉴로피드백 훈련이 미치는 영향 분석 연구)

  • This study was to examine the effectiveness of neurofeedback training by observing the pre and post brainwave measurement results of about 16(Primary Student 6, middle school student10) student who have shown resistance stress and body stress, mental stress. The study was examined at S city M dong A hearing impairments student, from Mar. 2008 and to Feb. 2009. The methodology used in the study is the Coloring Analysis Program of the Brain Quotient Test. As the brain waves are adjusted by timeseries linear analysis, the brain function quotients can reflect the functional states of the brain. The training took place two times a week, for about 40 minutes per session. The result confirmed the differences of both resistance stress quotient and body stress, mental stress. The results of the analysis show that neurofeedback training plays positive role in changing the brain function. Therefore, the result of the study shows that there is possibility that Neuro Feedback technique might be positively affecting resistance stress of the hearing impairments student, relationship between neurofeedback training and stress among several categories.

The effects of stress mindset on perceived stress and self-control in college students (대학생의 스트레스 마인드셋과 자기통제의 관계에서 지각된 스트레스의 매개효과)

  • This study, for the first time, examined predictive validity of stress mindset-the beliefs about the effects of stress-on perceived stress and self-control in college students. To do so, 159 college students completed self-reported questionnaires on stress mindset, perceived stress, and self-control. The results indicated that compared to students who believed stress can be utilized, those who believed stress is strictly harmful tended to experience higher level of stress, which, in turn, predicted lower self-control. These findings suggest that changing college students ' stress mindset may be a good way to help them to thrive mentally and behaviorally.

Minor Stress, Coping Skill and Quality of Life in Patients with Hemodialysis (혈액투석 환자들의 Minor Stress, 대처방식 및 삶의 질)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the minor stress in daily life related to undergoing hemodialysis and the relationship between minor stresses, coping skills, and subjective quality of life among the patients with end stage renal disease. Methods : Seventy seven patients on hemodialysis were enrolled in this study. Minor stress was assessed with daily stress inventory-Korean version(K-DSI), ways of coping checklist identified the use of the following coping strategies:problem-focused, seek social support, emotion-focused coping and wishful thinking. Socio-demographic data were obtained and World Health Organization-Quality of Life Scale(brief form) was also administered to subjects. Results : Participants mean age was $55.92{\pm}13.71$ years. The mean of the event, impact and impact/event (I/E) ratio scores of K-DSI were $29.06{\pm}21.57$, $88.69{\pm}75.88$ and $2.92{\pm}1.11$, respectively. These scores were much higher than normative data of K-DSI. Among the 5 categories of this inventory, the scores of cognitive stressors were highest. 5 categories of the inventory showed positive relationship with way of coping subscales, which showed coefficient of correlation between 0.259(p<.01) and 0.495(p<.001). However, no significant correlation was found between minor stress subscales and quality of life. Hemodialysis patients in our study used more emotional-focused coping methods, which was considered as passive way of cope than problem-orientated coping methods. Conclusion : The main findings of this study indicated that patients on hemodialysis showed higher level of perceived minor stress than normal population. The patients treated with hemodialysis tend to use passive way of coping primarily. For assessing the stress in patients on hemodialysis, clinician has to consider both level of perceived minor stress and the ways of coping the patients primarily use.

  • 현대 사회는 '스트레스의 사회'라 해도 과언이 아니다. 직장인들은 직장에서, 학생들은 학교에서, 심지어 어린 아이들에서도 스트레스로 인한 각종 질병이 발생하고 있다. 육체적 스트레스에서 심리적, 정신적 스트레스까지 각종 스트레스의 원인들로부터 둘러싸여 살아가고 있는 것이 지금 현대인의 일상이다. 스트레스로 인한 각종 질병들 중에서도 직장인들은 물론, 여성을 비롯해 학생들에게서 많이 발생하고 있는 것 중의 하나가 원형탈모증이다. 최근에는 각종 공해와 유해물질이 많아지면서 남녀 모두에게서 탈모 인구가 증가되었다. 사회는 점점더 복잡해지고 인스턴트식품의 섭취와 환경호르몬이 증가되면서 머리카락도 견디기 힘든 시대가 된 것이다. 일반적인 탈모와는 달리 원형탈모는 일시적인 탈모현상으로 비교적 쉽게 치료가 가능한 탈모증상이라고 알려져 있다. 그러나 대수롭게 넘겼다가는 탈모로 인한 스트레스까지 겪어야 할지도 모를 일이니 이번 기회를 통해 원형탈모에 대해 좀 더 구체적으로 알아보도록 하자.

Trajectories of Mothers' Daily Life Stress and its Association with Early Adolescents' Perceived Neglecting Attitude and Academic Achievements in Multicultural Families: Growth Mixture Modeling (다문화 가정 어머니의 일상생활스트레스 변화 양상에 따른 방임 및 자녀의 학업성취 차이: 성장혼합모형 적용을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify latent classes in changes of mothers' daily life stress over six years from multicultural families and to test its relationship with early adolescents' perceived neglecting parental attitudes and their academic achievements. For achieving this purpose, as the study sample 1,039 students were gathered from the 4th grade of elementary school to 3rd grade of middle school, using Growth Mixture Modeling, Multiple Group Analysis, and One-way ANOVA. The results were as follows. First, latent classes of mothers' daily life stress were categorized into three types: high-stable trajectory, moderate-changing trajectory, and low-changing trajectory. Second, these three types showed different characteristics in early adolescents' perceived neglecting parental attitudes and academic achievements. Third, early adolescents' perceived neglecting parental attitude were not significant determinants of the latent classes while academic achievements were. The findings of this study may provide a framework for understanding the relationships among mothers' daily life stress and early adolescents' perceived neglecting parental attitudes and their academic achievements in multicultural families and practical implications for providing social support to overcome daily life stress of mothers in multicultural families.

  • The purpose of this article is to empirically suggest the necessity of reconsidering the new aptitude factors such as the ability to withstand work stress, to handle unusual events, and to work independently, in the respect that the environmental change in railway safety-critical worker's job should be flexibly reflected in the current aptitude management system. Besides, several ways of reducing the stress level for the railway safety-critical workers were suggested as well.

  • Background: The purpose of this study is to develop a short form of the normal depression scale for individual use in the school, health, industry, organization, and counseling settings, based on the original normal depression scale (17 items). Methods: To achieve this purpose, we selected five items from the original test and analyzed data using Mplus 7.4 and SPSS 21.0. Results: The normal depression scale-short form consists of 5 items. The reliability of the short form (test-retest reliability) was good. The content validity and internal structure validity (1 factor model) were verified. The cut score between normal and dysfunctional depression was determined to be 18. Conclusions: The normal depression scale-short form for individual screening is verified to have good reliability and validity, so it is expected to be useful to perform quick screening of normal depression in the practical settings.

  • This study explored the conditions of daily hassles and the relations between daily hassles, bullying, and victimization by grade and gender. Data were collected from 530 1st-6th grade children through questionnaires. The extent of stress, bullying, and victimization of children differed by grade and gender. Males reported higher parent-, study-, and friend-related stress than females. Bullying and victimization were highly related to each other. Most bullying appeared in 3rd-6th grade children while most victimization occurred in 1st-2nd grade children. Most bully/victims were in 5th-6th grade children. More females than males were not-involved and victimized. More males than females were bullies and bully/victims. Bullies, victims, bully/victims, and not-involved children experienced different degrees of daily hassles.

Self-control and Sense of Humor as Moderating Factors for Negative Effects of Daily Hassles on School Adjustment for Children (학령 후기 아동의 일상적 스트레스가 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향을 중재하는 보호요인 : 자기통제력과 유머감각)

  • This study investigated whether children's self-control and sense of humor could moderate negative effects of daily hassles on their school adjustment. Subjects of this study were 880 6th graders (468 boys, 412 girls) in the Seoul metropolitan area. Children reported their daily hassles, school adjustment, self-control, and sense of humor on questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation analysis, and moderated regression analysis. Results showed that children who experienced less daily hassles, had higher self-control, and higher sense of humor were well-adjusted in their schools. Children's self-control and sense of humor moderated negative effects of daily hassles on school adjustment of children, although the moderate effect was weak.

  • This study explored differences in maternal parenting behaviors, children's emotional intelligence, and daily hassles by children's sex and types of aggression. Subjects were 200 children in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade and their mothers from four elementary schools. Instruments were the Maternal Parenting Behaviors Scale (Kim, 2006), the Emotional Intelligence Scale (Lee, 1997), the Daily Hassles Scale(Min & Yoo, 1998), and the Peer-nomination Measure (Crick, 1995; Crick & Grotpeter, 1995). Data were subjected to descriptive statistical analysis and multivariate analysis of variance. Findings revealed that the relational aggressive group had higher emotional intelligence and more daily hassles; girls had higher level of daily hassles than boys. Maternal parenting behaviors did not differ by child's sex and type of aggression.
