Reflective action research on setting up and implementing mathematics tasks demanded students' high-level cognition (인지적 수준이 높은 수학 과제 설정과 실행에 관한 교사의 반성적 연구 -초등학교 2학년 길이재기를 중심으로-)

  • This study attempted to investigate how to students show high-level mathematical thinking in math classes. This paper describes how to setup the task for lead to a high - level of thinking out students and what efforts are required while a teacher tried to maintaining students's high-level cognition during the tasks implemented. The researcher as teacher analyzed the tasks of length measurement unit in 2-Ga elementary math textbooks, modified and created math tasks demanded students' high-level cognition, made instruction plans, and implemented those tasks maintaining the levels of cognitive demand of tasks. After that, the researcher reflected and analyzed the levels of cognitive demand of tasks of instruction and factors that cause to change intended high-level cognitive demand. After reflection, second roof of action research was conducted to 2-Na length measurement unit. This paper includes those results and reflections of practitioner.

The Effect of Depressive Symptoms on Cognitive Function in the Elderly: Moderation Effect of Education (노년기 우울이 인지기능에 미치는 영향: 교육의 조절효과)

  • Geriatric depression is associated with pathological changes in the brain and increases the risk of cognitive impairment or dementia. However, high cognitive reserve, such as high education, can delay or minimize clinical manifestations of pathologies involving the brain, so the effect of geriatric depression on cognitive impairment or dementia may vary depending on the education level. In this study, the author analyzed data from the Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging (KLoSA) to examine whether the effect of geriatric depression on cognitive function differed depending on education level. Among the 10,254 subjects registered in the KLoSA, the 4,905 subjects who met the inclusion criteria were analyzed by stepwise regression analysis. The results were as follows: first, depressive symptoms predicted low cognitive function after 12 years; second, the negative effect of depressive symptoms on cognitive function after 12 years was higher in the old adult group than in the young adult group; and third, the effect of age was significant only in the low-educated group. These results suggest that depressive symptoms in low-educated old adults may increase the risk of development of dementia in the long term.

Investigating the Hierarchical Nature of Content and Cognitive Domains in the Mathematics Curriculum for Korean Middle School Students via Assessment Items (평가 문항을 활용한 중학교 수학 교육과정의 내용 및 인지행동의 위계성 조사)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree to which the middle school mathematics curriculum matched the item difficulty levels of representative mathematics items. The items used in this study were developed for the National Assessment of Educational Achievement. Ranks for difficulty values of the 60 multiple-choice item were calculated via both Classical Test Theory and Item Response Theory and correlated with the rank order of the mathematics content and cognitive domains sequence. There are six content domains; number and operation, algebra, measurement, figure, pattern and function, and probability and statistics. The cognitive domains include computation, understanding, reasoning and problem-solving. Results suggest a congruence between cognitive domain's sequence and item difficulty levels of items based on that sequence. This finding indicates that the linear or hierarchical assumptions concerning the sequence appears to be reasonable. The characteristics of items that were exceptions to this trend were addressed.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a training method customized to the level of cognitive abilities to increase users' interest and engagement while using cognitive function training contents. The level of cognitive ability of the users was based on the clustering based on the users' information and Mini-Mental Statue Examination-Korea Child test score using the K-means algorithm applied collaborative filtering. The results were applied to the integrated cognitive function training system, and the contents order and difficulty level of the cognitive function training area were recommended to the user's cognitive ability level. Particularly, the contents difficulty control was designed to give a high immersion feeling by applying the 'flow theory' method that users can repeatedly feel tension and comfort. In conclusion, the user-customized cognitive function training method proposed in this paper can be expected to be more effective and rehabilitative results than existing therapists' subjective setting of contents order and difficulty level.

Influences of Cognitive Styles on Students' Mathematical Communication by Types of Mathematical Tasks (학습자의 인지양식이 수학 과제 유형별 수학적 의사소통에 미치는 영향)

  • The purposes of this study were to identify the characteristics of students with different cognitive styles in the communication process according to the types of mathematical tasks and investigate the effects of their cognitive styles and types of mathematical tasks on their mathematical communication. For this, the investigator selected subjects according to the field dependent-field independent cognitive style by Witkin et al.(1977, p. 7). Mathematical tasks were developed in the areas of numbers and operations, regularity, and measurement according to the four types of Stein & Smith(1998, p. 269), which include the Memorization, Procedures without Connections, Procedures with Connections, and Doing Mathematics tasks. The selected students were divided into homogeneous groups according to their cognitive styles, and their communication processes according to the four types of mathematical tasks were observed through participation and videotaped. The videotapes were then transcribed and analyzed in protocols. The conclusions is that mathematical tasks of high cognitive level had positive effects on the activation of significant mathematical communication among the students and that differences in approaches to tasks according to their cognitive styles influenced their communicative activities in speaking and listening.

  • 본 연구에서는 음악의 템포가 인지적 과제 중 기억에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 알아보았다. 주관적 평정을 통해 중간 템포 수준에서 각성이 상대적으로 중간 상태임을 확인하였다. 단어 재인 과제에서는 중간 템포 수준에서 봤던 단어를 다른 두 조건에 비해 유의미하게 많이 기억하는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 템포에 따른 각성의 차이가 기억의 부호화 과정에서의 단어 기억에 영향을 미쳤음을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 음악을 듣는 상황에서, 템포가 인지적 수행을 향상 시켜줄 수 있는 변인으로써 응용 가치가 있다는 점을 밝혀내었다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

  • Websites support various user activities in a wide range of contents domain and so they require different approach to extract principal design problems. In the point of media perspective on websites, this paper figures out the relationship between designer, user and website and discusses design factors of usability. It aims for the basic framework for interface design. In the media perspective website is an information entity mediating user and designer. Information entity is composed of various design factors relating to user, designer, website and others. It intends that user and information entity are accommodative to each other and have common conceptual model. To do so it is necessary for achieving usability objectives such as effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction based on the understanding user goal, cognitive and affective characteristics. In the point of usability we examine design factors and features that are appropriate for users cognitive and affective function according to information entity model that constitutes contents, organization and representation level.

  • 본 연구는 레크리에이션 전문화와 진지한 여가의 하위요인 특성에 따라 여가활동 참가자들을 다섯 개의 집단으로 군집화하고, 집단 간 비교분석을 통해 주관적 삶의 질 인지수준에 차이가 있는가를 검증했다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 레크리에이션 전문화와 진지한 여가의 하위 요인 특성과 주관적 삶의 질 인지 수준은 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

Comparison of Anger Expression Style and Cognitive Characteristics among Male adolescent game users depending on the level of Game Addiction and Engagement (게임중독 및 관여 수준에 따른 남자 청소년 게임사용집단의 분노표현양상과 인지적 특성 비교)

  • This study was conducted to examine the differences of anger expression style and cognitive characteristics among adolescents depending on the level of game addiction and game engagement. 420 high school boys were administered the Game Addiction/Engagement Scale, Behavioral Anger Response Questionnaire to measure anger expression style, and Irrational Belief Scale to measure cognitive characteristics. The results of correlation analyses showed that addiction had positive correlations with all the irrational belief factors and behavior anger factors except for assertion and avoidance. Engagement was positively correlated with all the variables except for direct anger-out, avoidance, and self-downing. Participants were divided into three groups depending on the level of addiction and engagement. Addiction high risk-low engagement group showed the lowest scores on support-seeking and the highest scores on diffusion and self-downing. Addiction high risk-high engagement group showed the highest scores on direct anger-out. Based on these findings, it was suggested that counselling strategies for adolescents at high risk of game addiction need to be varied depending on the level of game engagement.

  • 본 연구는 판매노력을 열심히 일을 하는 것과 효율적으로 일을 하는 것으로 구분하고 판매노력에 대한 감독자의 정보제공과 판매원의 감독참가의 효과를 알아보는데 역점을 두고 수행되었다. 판매원의 감독참가와 감독자의 정보제공은 종업원이 자신들의 목표와 성과 그리고 능력과 활동에 관한 내용을 능동적으로 인지하게 함으로서 종업원의 지식수준을 높아지게 하고, 판매원에게 기대되는 역할을 인지하는 하는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 종업원의 지식수준은 종업이 일을 열심히 하고, 효율적으로 하는 정도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 판매원으로 하여금 판매직무에서 본인에게 기대되는 것이 무엇인지, 자신이 해야할 일이 정확히 무엇인지를 인지하게 하는데 긍정적인 영향력이 있음을 알 수 있었다. 그런데 역할명료성이 일을 열심히 하게 하는데 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났지만 효율적으로 하는 효과는 없는 것으로 나타났고, 오히려 감독통제수단으로서 정보제공이 판매원이 일을 효율적으로 수행하게끔 하는데 유의적인 직접효과가 있음을 발견하였다.
