Previous studies on double scale models, visual models with two different scales (Chong, 2015), have focused on double number line and little research has been conducted on how to employ double scale models in the elementary mathematics textbooks series. Given this, we analyzed the characteristics of double scale models in the Japanese elementary mathematics textbooks in the following aspects: (a) the contents of units where double scale models were used; (b) the purposes of using such models; (c) the types of such models tailored to the contents and grade levels; and (d) the characteristics of problem contexts dealing with the models. The results of this study showed that double scale models were effectively used to connect the contents related to multiplication, specifically for the contexts of ratio. Such models were addressed for students in a systematic and gradual way as the grade levels went up. Based on these results, this paper describes implications on how to use double scale models in mathematics textbooks.
Double scale models have been introduced in elementary mathematics textbooks under the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum. However, few studies have examined in detail how students understand or utilize such models. In this study, we analyzed how 154 sixth-grade students who had learned the division of fractions from textbooks containing double scale models understood such models. The results showed that the students tended to identify the components of the model relatively well, but had difficulties exploring the unit or the meaning of the bottom number line of a model. They also had a lot of difficulties using the double scale model to complete the computation process and explain the computation principle. Based on these findings, we discuss the implications of teaching double scale models.
The purpose of this study was to examine validity of the Korean-Child Behavior Checklist: K-CBCL) as measures for emotional and behavioral problems for use with children with autism spectrum disorders. In present study, the factor of the K-CBCL was investigated, using data of 248 children with autism spectrum disorders, with 11.17 mean ages. The two factor model of Internalizing problems (Withdrawn, Somatic Complaints, Anxious/Depressed) and Externalizing problems (Delinquent Behavior, Aggressive Behavior) was investigated by the confirmatory factor analysis. The two factor model of K-CBCL was adequate for children with autism spectrum disorders. The inter-item consistency for the sub-factor of K-CBCL demonstrated on adequate reliability of the measure. Although the inter-item consistency of Withdraw, Social problems, Delinquent Behavior was not acceptable, the inter-item consistency of Internalizing, Externalizing and total problems were good. This results supported validity and reliability and suggested that K-CBCL is used to assess for emotional and behavioral problems in children with autism spectrum disorders.
The purpose of this study was to test the effect of socially-perfectionism on depression by mediating ambivalence over emotional expressiveness and experiential avoidance. For this purpose, 201 participants across the country conducted the survey, a measure of MPS, AEQ-K, AAQ-II, CES-D. The descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, path coefficient were conducted using SPSS 23.0. The indirect effect was examined using bootstrap in PROCESS Macro. The results of the study are as follows. First, all the variables had meaningful positive correlations. Secondly, When socially-perfectionism affects depression, ambivalence over emotional expressiveness, and experiential avoidance were mediated. As a result, the implications and limitations of the study were discussed.

In this paper, two series of numerical simulations are performed using LS/DYNA3D: The first series of numerical simulations are collision events between a 310,000 DWT double hull VLCC (struck ship) and two 35,000 and 105,000 DWT tankers (striking ships). Collisions are assumed to occur at the middle of the VLCC with the striking ships moving at right angle to the YLCC centerline. The second ones, grounding accidents of two 40,000 DWT Conventional and Advanced Double Hull lanker bottom structures, CONV/PD328 and ADH/PD328 models. The overall objective of this study is to understand the structural failure and energy absorbing mechanisms during collision and grounding events for double hull tanker side and bottom structures, which lead to the initiation of inner shell rupture and cause the kinetic energy dissipation to bring the ship to a stop. These numerical simulations will contribute to the estimation of damage extents of collision and grounding accidents and the future improvements in lanker safety at the design stage.
In order to identify tactile sensibility factors of traditional silk fabrics and to provide prediction models for the sensibility factors by mechanical properties, seventeen different traditional silk fabrics were evaluated in terms of both tactile sensation and sensibility by using a modified magnitude estimation line scale Gongdan and Newttong with lower values for surface roughness(SMD), bending rigidity(B), and compression resilience(RC) were rated as softer, smoother, fluffier, and more pliable in tactile sensation than any other traditional silk fabrics whereas Nobangju haying higher B, SMD, and tensile resilience(RT) was touched as crisper, more rustling, and springier. Three different tactile sensibility factors including 'Feminine', 'Natural', and 'Casual' were obtained significantly by grouping fifteen different tactile sensibility descriptors. In the prediction models sensibility 'Feminine' was explained positively by SMD, which was supported by the fact that both Gongdan and Newtton were perceived as more feminine. Sensibility 'Natural' that was felt stronger as for Myoungju and Sa was predicted negatively by both fabric thickness(T) and RT. Finally, RC, elongation at maximum load (EM), and T predicted sensibility 'Casual' negatively, which results in its higher factor scores for Myoungju and Shantung, respectively.
The impervious cover ratio has been used as an important measure for tracing water environment characteristics in watershed. Impervious cover is divided into total impervious cover and effective impervious cover, and its size varies depending on the land use characteristics of a watershed. Total impervious cover can be easily measured using existing land use maps or land cover map, while it takes a considerable amount of time and labor to measure the effective impervious cover, as water flow should be identified at each site. This study is intended to calculate the total impervious cover and effective cover of a sample site, compare their characteristics, and find a method to apply effective and total impervious cover ratios toward watershed management. The analysis of the sample site showed that the effective impervious cover rate(39.7%) was less than the total impervious cover rate(43%). This suggests that it would be acceptable, in terms of time and cost, if total impervious cover is applied as the representative impervious cover ratio of a watershed considering that it was used as basic data to analyze the effect that impervious cover has on the water environment.

Estimation of the buckling and ultimate strength of a continuous stiffened plate subjected to combined transverse compression and lateral pressure is of high importance to ensure the safety of ship structures, particularly for the bottom plating under a deep draft condition For example, bottom plating of bulk carriers is subjected to transverse thrust caused by the bending of double bottom structure and the direct action of pressure on the side shells. Most of experimental tests, theoretical approach and numerical researches have been performed on the buckling and ultimate strength behaviour of plates or stiffened plates under combined compression and lateral pressure. With regard to stiffened panels, however, most of studies have been concerned with the load conditions of combined longitudinal thrust and lateral pressure, while fewer studies have been performed for the combined transverse thrust and lateral pressure. In addition, the previous researches are mainly concerned with an isolated rectangular plate simply supported along the all edges, whereas actual ship plating is continuous across the transverse frames and heavy girders. In the present paper, a series of elastoplastic large deflection FEA on a continuous stiffened plate is performed and then clarify the characteristic of collapse mode and explain the effect of transverse compression.
In this study, a number of distance-dependent competition indices on tree-level which incorporate the tree sizes and distances to competitors, and traditional stand-level density measures were estimated from the data compiled with position-dependent survey in a Pinus densiflora stand. The performance of the estimated competition indices was examined by comparing the relationship with the diameter growth, and a dbh growth function, in which the competition index is considered as a one of influence factors, are developed. In the searching method of competing trees, the competition index estimated with $30^{\circ}$ competition interrupting angle showed the highest correlation with the annual dbh growth, while the expanding the competing zone distance had no significant effect on the performance of competition index in estimating annual dbh growth. The most of the examined stand-level competition indices, based on distance-dependent single-tree competition indices, were evaluated to describe similarly the stand competition status. As a result of partial correlation analysis in which the effect of age and site index are eliminated, Alemdag's mean competition index and relative spacing index were determined to have the highest correlation with dbh. The relative spacing index, which can be easily measured in field without measuring the position of individual trees, was considered to be a better suited one for estimating mean dbh of a stand. Among distance-dependent competition indices on tree-level, Hegyi's competition index showed the best performance in their correlation with annual dbh growth, if eliminated the effect of site index and dbh. This enabled to derive the following annual dbh growth function of individual trees which incorporate age, dominant height, dbh and Hegyi's competition index as influence factors : $$dbh^{\prime}=3.975362676{\cdot}age^{-1.099274613}{\cdot}ho^{0.199893990}{\cdot}dbh^{0.269430865}{\cdot}HgCI^{-0.353643587}$$ This function is coincided to the growth principle in which site index has a positive effect on the annual dbh growth, while high age or competition causes to reduce the annual dbh growth, and can be used as a function in single tree growth model.
