A Study on Fish Movement Efficiency in Biopolymer and Aggregate Mixed Fishway (피마자유기반 바이오폴리머와 골재를 혼합한 어도의 어류이동효율 실험연구)

  • A fishway is an artificial waterway or device used to resolve difficulties in the movement of fish in a river. Most existing fishways are made of concrete and emit toxic substances, which has a negative impact on the river environment. Accordingly, there is a need to develop fishway construction technology that is eco-friendly and can increase movement efficiency. The technology presented in this study is an integrated porous structure that combines the aggregate with a biopolymer material extracted from castor oil, a non-toxic material. It is a fishway construction technology using eco-friendly materials that can allow vegetation to grow on the surface. In this study, an eco-friendly fishway mixed with biopolymer and aggregate was built on a real scale and the fish movement efficiency was tested and analyzed. As a result of the experiment, a total of 201 fish of 14 species were released with tags inserted, and the detection rate of released fish was confirmed to be 82.6% on average. A total of 40 fish of 6 species were transported upstream through the fishway, and the average passage rate was confirmed to be 21.7%. As a result of checking the circadian migration pattern, it was found that all fish mainly migrate during the day. It was confirmed that there was no significant functional difference between a fishway using biopolymer and a concrete fishway. It is believed that a fishway using biopolymer can be used as a replacement for a concrete fishway.

  • In accordance with low carbon and green growth paradigm, a subway is one of major public transit systems for resolving traffic congestion and decreasing traffic accidents. In addition, as subway networks expand, passengers' travel pattern in the subway network change and consequently affect the urban structure. Generally, new subway route has been planned and developed, mainly considering a travel demand forecast. However, it is desired to conduct an empirical analysis on the forecast model regarding change of travel accessibility and passenger demand pattern according to new subway line. Therefore, in this paper, an alternative method, developed based upon a spatial syntax model, is proposed for evaluating new subway route in terms of passenger's mobility and network accessibility. In a case study, we constructed subway network data, mainly targeting the no 9 subway line opened in 2009. With an axial-map analysis, we calculated spatial characteristics to describe topological movement interface. We then analyzed actual modal shift and change on demand of passengers through the number of subway passenger between subway stations and the number of passenger according to comparative bus line from Smart Card to validate suggested methods. Results show that the proposed method provides quantitative means of visualizing passenger flow in subway route planning and of analyzing the time-space characteristics of network. Also, it is expected that the proposed method can be utilized for predicting a passengers' pattern and its impact on public transportation.

신호제어를 고려한 가로망 설계모형의 구축에 대한 연구

  • 가로망은 사회의 발전과 더불어 날로 늘어나고 있는 통행수요를 직접적으로 처리하게 되는 기반시설이다. 따라서 가로망의 구성과 운영은 심각하게 대두되고 있는 교통혼잡 등의 제반문제들을 해결하기 위해 기본적으로 고려되어야 한다. 이를 위해서 연구되어온 가로망 설계 모형들은 새로운 도로의 건설이나 기존 도로의 확장 등을 통해 가로망을 조정하여, 사용자들의 선택에 영향을 줌으로써 통행 흐름을 원활하게 하고자 한다. 이러한 가로망 설계 과정에서 사용자들에 의해서 초래된 통행비용의 개선과 이를 위해 사용된 투자비용 사이의 관계를 고려하여 적절한 대안을 선택하게 된다. 일반적으로 도시부의 경우, 차량들의 통행패턴은 가로망의 물리적 구성(기하구조, 용량 등)뿐만 아니라, 신호제어(주기, 녹색시간 등)에 의해서 결정된다. 그러므로 가로망 설계 모형에서 고려되는 사용자의 통행비용의 경우, 단순히 가로망의 통행시간 뿐만 아니라 신호제어에 의해서 부가되는 지체도 고려해야 하며, 이를 통해 가로망의 계획단계에서 중요하게 생각해야하는 요소의 하나인 차량의 이동성과 접근성의 부여도 가능하게 될 것이다. 즉, 이동성을 중요시하는 도로와 접근성을 위주로 하는 도로 각각의 기능에 부합하는 가로망 설계가 필요한 것이다. 위에서 언급한 것처럼 기존의 가로망 설계모형의 경우, 단순히 용량의 변화에 대한 링크 통행시간과 이로 인한 통행량의 변화만을 고려하고 있는 상황이다. 하지만, 도시부에서 실제 차량의 통행패턴은 단순히 도로의 기하학적 용량뿐만 아니라, 교차로에서의 신호제어에 의한 지체에도 상당한 영향을 받게 되며, 가로망 설계 모형에서 이를 반영할 수 있어야 한다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 이러한 신호제어의 영향들을 고려함으로써 가로망 설계 과정에서 가로망의 상반된 역할인 이동성과 접근성의 비교가 가능한 보다 현실적인 가로망 설계 모형을 구축하고자 한다. 지금까지 소개된 가로망 설계모형들은 용량변화에 대한 설계변수의 형태에 따라 이산적 가로망 설계 모형과 연속적 가로망 설계모형으로 나뉘어지게 된다. 본 논문의 경우, 계산속도의 향상 측면에서는 연속적 가로망 설계 모형을 도입할 수 있지만, 이때 요구되는 도로용량이 이산적인 변수(차선 수)로 결정되어야만 신호제어 변수를 결정할 수 있기 때문에, 이산적 가로망 설계 모형이 사용된다. 하지만, 이산적 설계모형의 경우 조합최적화 문제이므로 정확한 최적해를 구하기 위해서는 상당한 시간이 소요되며, 경우에 따라서는 국부 최적해에 빠지게 된다. 이러한 문제를 극복하기 위해, 우선 이상적 모형의 근사화, 혹은 조합최적화문제를 위해 개발된 Simulated Annealing기법의 적용, 연속적 모형의 변수를 이산화하는 방법 등 다양한 모형들을 고려해 본 뒤, 적절한 모형을 적용할 것이다. 가로망 설계 모형에서 신호제어를 고려하기 위해서는 주어진 가로망에 대한 통행 배정과정에서 고려되는 통행시간을 링크통행시간과 교차로 지체시간을 동시에 고려해야 하는데, 이러한 문제의 해결을 위해서 최근 활발히 논의되고 있는 교차로에서의 신호제어에 대응하는 통행배정 모형을 도입하여 고려하고자 한다. 이를 위해서 지금까지 연구되어온 Global Solution Approach와 Iterative Approach를 비교, 검토한 뒤 모형에 보다 알맞은 방법을 선택한다. 차량의 교차로 통행을 고려하는 performance function의 경우 비신호 교차로와 신호교차로에 대한 적절한 비교가 현재로서는 고려되고 있지 못하기 때문에, 구성되는 가로망의 경우 신호교차로들로만 구성되며, 부득이한 경우 입체교차의 형태로 구성되는 것으로 가정한다. 실제 가로망의 경우, 교통향이 많은 도시부의 경우 주가로망은 대부분 신호교차로와 입체교차로 구성되기 때문에 가능할 것으로 생각된다. 기존의 신호제어 모형과 가로망 설계모형을 결합하여 통합된 가로망 설계모형의 구축하기 위해, 기존의 연구결과들을 종합하여 보다 적절한 모형을 선택하고, 개선하며, 이의 적용성을 시험하기 위해서, 가상 가로망을 구성하여 모형의 적용 결과를 분석한다.

Underwater Target Localization Using the Interference Pattern of Broadband Spectrogram Estimated by Three Sensors (3개 센서의 광대역 신호 스펙트로그램에 나타나는 간섭패턴을 이용한 수중 표적의 위치 추정)

  • In this paper, we propose a moving target localization algorithm using acoustic spectrograms. A time-versus-frequency spectrogram provide a information of trajectory of the moving target in underwater. For a source at sufficiently long range from a receiver, broadband striation patterns seen in spectrogram represents the mutual interference between modes which reflected by surface and bottom. The slope of the maximum intensity striation is influenced by waveguide invariant parameter ${\beta}$ and distance between target and sensor. When more than two sensors are applied to measure the moving ship-radited noise, the slope and frequency of the maximum intensity striation are depend on distance between target and receiver. We assumed two sensors to fixed point then form a circle of apollonios which set of all points whose distances from two fixed points are in a constant ratio. In case of three sensors are applied, two circle form an intersection point so coordinates of this point can be estimated as a position of target. To evaluates a performance of the proposed localization algorithm, simulation is performed using acoustic propagation program.

Possible Relationship between NAO and Western North Pacific Typhoon Genesis Frequency (북대서양 진동과 북서태평양 태풍발생빈도와의 관계)

  • This study examined a strong positive correlation between the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) index during June and the total tropical cyclone (TC) genesis frequency in the western North Pacific during July and August. To investigate a possible cause for this relationship, the mean difference between the highest positive NAO years and the lowest negative NAO years was analyzed by dividing into when the El Ni$\tilde{n}$o and La Ni$\tilde{n}$a years were included and when the El Ni$\tilde{n}$o and La Ni$\tilde{n}$a years were not included. When the El Ni$\tilde{n}$o and La Ni$\tilde{n}$a years were included, for the positive NAO years, the TCs mostly occurred in the northwestern region of tropical and subtropical western Pacific, and showed a pattern that migrate from the sea northeast of the Philippines, pass the East China Sea, and move toward the mid-latitudes of East Asia. In contrast, for the negative NAO years, the TCs mostly occurred in the southeastern region of tropical and subtropical western Pacific, and showed a pattern that migrate westward from the sea southeast of the Philippines, pass the South China Sea, and move toward the southern coast of China and Indochinese peninsula. These two different TC migration patterns affect the recurving location of TC, and for the positive NAO years, the recurving of TC was averagely found to take place in the further northeast. In addition, the migration patterns also affect the TC intensity, and the TCs of positive NAO years had stronger intensity than the TCs of negative NAO years as sufficient energy can be absorbed from the ocean while moving north in the mid-latitudes of East Asia. The TCs of negative NAO years showed weak intensity as they get weaken or disappear shortly while landing on the southern coast of China and the Indochinese peninsula. On the other hand, the above result of analysis is also similarly observed when the El Ni$\tilde{n}$o and La Ni$\tilde{n}$a years were not included.

  • Currently various applications related to bus route are used on smart devices to obtain bus arrival times, and route information. However, applications are unable to provide various ways for users to provide their destination. This study has designed an algorithm based on user's six patterns. An Android application and a server that communicate with each other have been based on the algorithm. The applications and the server use the Google Maps service and location-based information to provide users with possible routes from the starting place to the destination. They also provide user's with users' current position and any transfer information. They provide practical and efficient information, and are easy to use.

Modified Genetic Algorithm for Fast Beam Formation in Wireless Network (무선 메쉬 네트워크 환경에서 빠른 빔형성을 위한 개선된 유전알고리즘)

  • This paper proposes a modified genetic algorithm that has the same beamforming performance and a fast convergence speed using general genetic algorithm in order to form a beam for the mobile node in a mesh network. The proposed beamforming genetic algorithm selects a part of chromosome a high fitness value in mating process to obtain fast convergence speed, and rest part of chromosome with longer fitness value in order to avoid local solution. Furthermore, the reference beam pattern with Gaussian shape reduces additional convergence speed. Simulation shows that the convergence speed of proposed algorithm improves 20% compared with that of conventional beamforming genetic algorithm.

Ridge Feature Extraction of Fingerprint Using Sequential Labeling (순차적 레이블링을 이용한 지문 융선 특징 검출)

  • A novel fingerprint ridge feature extraction using sequential labeling of thinned fingerprint image is proposed, which is invariant to position translation, scaling, and rotation. the proposed algorithm labels ridges of thinned fingerprint image sequentially using vertical line that goes through fingerprint core point. Then, we extract a feature from each labeled ridge and the extraction process is based on the type fo the ridge and a minutiae ridge angle in the ridge. The feature extracted through this process enables us to find out the kind of various minutiae and minutiae angle. As a result of the experiment using two thinned fingerprint images, we finally confirm that proposed algorithm is not related to position translation, scaling, and rotation.

Study on the Transformable Quadruped Robot with Docking Module (변형과 결합 가능한 4족 로봇에 대한 연구)

  • This paper presents a study on transformable multiple quadruped robots by docking between robots and waist joints. This robot is able to go on a variety of angles because of mecanum wheels. It is also a hybrid design which allows robot use legs to overcome obstacles on complex terrains and wheels to move on flat ground. The robot is applied kinematics of mecanum wheels and walking, and its walking is based on specific patterns. Docking module is located in front and backside of robot, docking algorithm is suggested and fulfilled for docking between 2 robots. A waist joint is at the center of robot body for transformation and after docking and transformation, robot can activate new functions that carry something.

  • In this paper, a novel wideband crossed planar monopole antenna with the multiple resonance characteristics is proposed. The proposed monopole antenna can be designed by a wideband crossed planar monopole antenna with L-shaped slits. In order to generate multiple resonance characteristics on the proposed monopole antenna, the length of L-shaped slit and the number of L-shaped slits are determined at an interesting frequency. The proposed antenna having an omnidirectional radiation pattern and a high gain over the multiple resonance frequency bands, respectively, is suitable for a mobile antenna.
