In this paper, the interaction of oblique incident waves with a bottom-mounted and fluid-filled flexible membrane structure is investigated in the frame of linear hydro-elastic theory. The static shape of a membrane structure containing the fluid of a specific density is initially unknown and must be calculated before the hydrodynamic analysis. To solve hydrodynamic problem, the fluid domain is divided into the inner and outer region. The inner solution based on discrete membrane dynamic model and simple-source distribution over the entire fluid boundaries is matched to the outer solution ba~ed on an eigenfunction expansion method. The numerical results were compared to a series of Ohyama's experimental results. The measured reflection and tran¬smission coefficients reasonably follow the trend of predicted values. Using the computer program developed, the performance of a bottom-mounted and fluid-filled flexible membrane strocture is tested with various system parameters (membrane shape, internal pressure, density ratio) and wave characteristics (wave frequencies, incident wave angle). It is found that a bottom-mounted and fluid-filled flexible membrane structure can be an effel;tive wave barrier if properly designed.
In this study, a long-term unsteady simulation model has been developed using rigid water column theory which is more accurate than Extended-period model and more efficient comparing with water-hammer simulation model. The developed model is applied to 24-hours unsteady simulation considering daily water-demand and water-hammer analysis caused by closing a valve. For the case of 24-hours daily simulation, the pressure of each node decreases as the water demand increase, and when the water demand decrease, the pressure increases. During the simulation, the amplitudes of flow and pressure variation are different in each node and the pattern of flow variation as well as water demand is quite different than that of KYPIPE2. Such discrepancy necessitates the development of unsteady flow analysis model in water distribution network system. When the model is applied to water-hammer analysis, the pressure and flow variation occurred simultaneously through the entire network system by neglecting the compressibility of water. Although water-hammer model shows the lag of travel time due to fluid elasticity, in the aspect of pressure and flow fluctuation, the trend of overall variation and quantity of the result are similar to that of water-hammer model. This model is expected for the analysis of gradual long-term unsteady flow variations providing computational accuracy and efficiency as well as identifying pollutant dispersion, pressure control, leakage reduction corresponding to flow-demand pattern, and management of long-term pipeline net work systems related with flowrate and pressure variation in pipeline network systems

Presently, one or several tugboats guide a ship in the port or canal, during the ship's engines and steering mechanism kept idle. This method has insufficient ability keeping the ship on course, danger of collision with waterside structures, tugging preparation time consuming, as well as the need expending substantial resources to acquire and maintain tugboats and associated facilities. Therefore, a new technology and system for ship's guiding to be needed and introduced instead of traditional guiding and tugging system.

It is important in design of vertical pumps to consider external excitation in addition to rotor vibration due to unbalance. In this study, a model of a vertical pump was developed for the analysis of its dynamic response. The vertical pump was modeled with lumped masses and springs which represent multi-cylindrical and rotor structure. A dynamic simulation program was developed and numerical calculation on the above mentioned problems were carried out.

In this study, trim tabs were attached to end of stern hull of a small high-speed vessel of length approximately 10 m and Froude number 1.0 to improve resistance performance and passenger comfort. Before computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to assess the performance according to various geometries of the trim tab, the scale effect had been found through a previous study, so full-scale simulations were performed. The trim tab chord length was set to 0.5 %, 1.0 % and 1.5 % of LPP, and its angle to base line was varied in intervals of 5°. It decreased trim by stern and flotation: the greater the angle and length, the greater was the effect. Then it had pressure resistance decreased and shear resistance increased, and reduction ratio of total resistance varied accordingly. The results of this study indicated that the resistance performance was improved about 27 % at optimal running attitude that was the trim by stern about 1.5°.

A variety of appendages are attached to coastal and offshore fishing boats to improve stability during navigation or fishing operations (stability performance and roll reduction). These appendages are generally classified into three types, which are shown in Fig. 1. The numerical calculations were conducted for the following eight cases: one case of a bare hull, three cases where a single appendage attached, three cases of a pair of appendages attached, and one case where all three appendages were attached. Table 1 presents the main dimensions of the bare hull and Table 2 describes the main dimensions of the three appendages. The fluid dynamic performance with regard to the three hull appendages was evaluated via CFD for the following cases: each of the appendages attached independently, a pair of appendages attached, and all three appendages attached simultaneously. The No. 1 appendage showed that pressure resistance was proportionally greater than friction resistances. Both Nos. 2 and 3 appendages showed comparable levels of pressure and friction resistances. The correlation between appendages was minimal in the case of pairs and Comparing the cases of the No. 2 appendage attached and all appendages attached, at 11 kn, the EHP showed an difference of 9 %.

In this study, hydrodynamic characteristics of dam break flow were investigated by a series of experiments. The experiments were performed in a 2-D rectangular flume with obtaining instantaneous images of dam break flow to capture the free surface elevation, and pressure distributions on vertical wall and bottom of the flume. The initial water depth of the dam break flow was changed into 3 different heights, and the gate opening speed was changed during the experiments to study the effect of the gate speed in the dam break flow. Generation of dam break phenomena could be classified into three stages, i.e., very initial, relatively stable, and wall impact stages. The wall impact stage could be separated into 4 generation phases of wall impinge, run-up, overturning, and touchdown phases based on the deformation of the free surface. The free surface elevation were investigated with various initial water depth and compared with the analytic solutions by Ritter (1892). The pressures acting on the vertical wall and bottom were provided for the whole period of dam break flow varying the initial water depth and gate open speed. The measurement results of the dam break flow was compared with the hydrodynamic characteristics of green water phenomena, and it showed that the dam break flow could overestimate the green water loading based on the estimation suggested by Buchner (2002).

In this study, the model of the indirect wind suction waste sorting machine for characteristics of the screening of waste was studied using computational fluid dynamics and the drag coefficient for the model and the suction wind speed were obtained. The wind separator are developing by installing a cyclone air outlet to the suction blower impeller waste is selective in a way that does not pass the features and characteristics of the inlet pipe of the pressure loss and separation efficiency can have a significant impact on. Using Wind separator for selection of waste in the waste prior research on the aerodynamic properties are essential. For plastic cases, it is reasonable to take the drag coefficient between 0.8 and 1.0, and for cans, compression depending on whether the cans, the drag coefficient is in the range from 0.2 to 0.7. The separation efficiency of waste as change suction speed was the highest efficiency when the suction speed was 25~26 m/s. Shape of the inlet, depending on how the transfer pipe of the duct pressure loss occurs because the inlet velocity changes through the appropriate design standards to allow for continued research is needed.

In this study, the effects of the wave field changes due to the coastal structure on the hydrodynamic performance of the OWC wave energy, converter are analyzed using a three-dimensional numerical wave tank technique (NWT). The OWC device is simulated numerically by introducing a linear pressure drop model, considering the coupling effect between the turbine and the OWC chamber in the time domain. The flow distribution around the chamber is different due to the change of reflection characteristics depending on the consideration of the breakwater model. The wave energy captured from the breakwater is spatially distributed on the plane of the front of the breakwater, and the converted pneumatic power increased when concentrated in front of the chamber. The change of the standing wave distribution is repeated according to the relationship between the incident wavelength and the length of the breakwater, and the difference in energy conversion performance of the OWC was confirmed.

In this research, tunnel stern was applied on the asymmetric high-speed catamaran to evaluate vessel's hydrodynamic performance by numerical method, and the tunnel stern types are distinguished by angle of inclination of tunnel exit region into 3cases ($0^{\circ}$, $3^{\circ}$ and $6^{\circ}$). Consequently, it is confirmed that the total resistances of tunnel stern which have $0^{\circ}$ of inclination are lower about 4.8-17.9% than the bare hull in the wide speed range, but those of $3^{\circ}$ and $6^{\circ}$ of inclination tunnel stern are higher than bare hull about 5-14% and 5-29%, respectively. On the other hand, trim angles of $0^{\circ}$ of inclination tunnel stern show similar trend with those of bare hull in whole ranges of FnV but those of $3^{\circ}$ and $6^{\circ}$ of inclination tunnel stern are stabilized and declined respectively after FnV=1.54. These phenomena indicated that increasing angle of inclination of tunnel exit region had negative influence on resistance performance, however, it could make vessel's operation performance better than bare hull.
