Analysis of Teacher's Verbal Interactions and Problem Solving Strategies in Young Children's Environmental Education Using Language Network Analysis Methods (언어네트워크 분석방법을 활용한 유아환경교육에서 교사의 언어적 상호작용과 문제해결전략 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to perform of composition of young children teacher's verbal interactions and problem solving strategies by semantic network analysis. The data was collected the narrative of teacher in young children's environmental education. Additionally, this study used categories as a unit of analysis in order to find out structural characteristics. The results of this study were as follows. First, teacher's verbal interactions, providing information was the most cental, high influence appeared along with integration. Second, teacher's problem solving strategies, suggestion was the most cental, high influence appeared along with divergent thinking. Third, teacher's verbal interactions and problem solving strategies, suggestion was the most cental, providing information and divergent thinking appeared a strong connection. Besides, suggestion and decision were mediated by concern of problem, assessment appeared connection. Through these results from this study it is suggested that in order to interact and support problem solving process in young children's environmental education, teacher education to respond and understand contextually with young children is necessary.

Impact of Teacher's Occupational Stress on Their Sense of Happiness and Enthusiasm for Teaching Profession in Early Childhood Education Institutions (유아교육기관에서의 직무 스트레스가 유아교사의 행복감과 교직에 대한 열정에 미치는 영향)

  • The study aimed to investigate the impact of teacher's occupational stress on their sense of happiness and enthusiasm for teaching profession in early childhood institutions according to their occupational stress. For these purposes, data were collected from 321 early childhood teachers in Gyeonggi province. The results of this study were as follows: First, there was a statistically significant difference in sense of happiness of early childhood teachers according to occupational stress level. Second, there was no statistically significant difference in overall enthusiasm for teaching profession according to occupational stress level, but significant differences among sub-factors. Third, as a result of examining the effects of occupational stress on sense of happiness and enthusiasm for teaching profession for early childhood teachers, all of them had a statistically significant effect, except overall enthusiasm. It is expected that this study will help to provide basic data for preparing a happy classroom environment.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of teachers' motivation for choosing teaching on the relationship with career adaptability through self-directed learning in 271 pre-service early childhood teachers. As a result of the study, first, career adaptability, self-directed learning, and motivation for choosing teaching were high in order. Second, there was a positive correlation that the higher the motivation for choosing a teaching profession, the higher the self-directed learning and career adaptation, and the higher the self-directed learning, the higher the career adaptation. Third, it was found that self-directed learning of pre-service early childhood teachers partially mediated teachers' motivation for choosing teaching and career adaptability. This study is significant in that it sought various perspectives in practicing high-quality early childhood teacher education program and provided basic data on teacher education program.

The Effects of Early Childhood Teachers' Empowerment and Job Satisfaction on Their Teacher-Child Interactions (유아교사의 임파워먼트와 직무만족도가 교사-유아상호작용에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of early childhood teachers' empowerment and job satisfaction on their teacher-child interaction. The subjects were 550 early childhood teachers working for young children aged 3 to 5 at kindergartens and daycare centers in South Korea. The survey questionnaires were used to measure main variables. Pearson's correlation analysis and analysis of multiple regression were conducted to test research questions using the SPSS 26.0 Statistical Program. As the results, early childhood teachers' empowerment and job satisfaction were found to have the significantly positive correlation with their teacher-child interaction. In addition, early childhood teachers' empowerment and job satisfaction had significant effects on their level of teacher-child interaction.

Analysis of Early Childhood Teachers' Stages of Concern and Level of Use about STEAM : Focusing on Concern-Based Adoption Model (융합인재교육(STEAM)에 대한 유아교사의 관심단계와 활용수준 분석: 관심중심수용모형을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the stage of concern and use level of early childhood teachers' STEAM, and to find out whether there is a difference in the stage of concern according to individual teachers' variables. The subjects were 242 teachers in charge of 3-5 years old kindergarten and daycare center in G city. The research tool was the stages of concern questionnaire (SoCQ). The collected data were converted to relative intensity by applying percentile conversion chart in the guidelines, and this was expressed as a concern profile graph, and t-test and ANOVA were performed to find out the difference in concern according to teacher's background variables. The research results are as follows. First, the stage of concern in early childhood teachers' STEAM was identified as a critical non-user profile. Second, the stage of concern in the teacher's STEAM was judged as a person who did not use, or was implemented for less than 2 years, and was a non-user or a novice. In addition, it was found that most of the teachers did not receive formal education for STEAM. third. There were differences in the educational background, career, current execution status of teachers, whether or not to take related courses in pre-service teacher education, and whether to plan for future implementation. And there were no differences in the majors and institution types of teachers. Based on these results, a support plan for changing the stage of concern of teachers about STEAM and improving the level of use was suggested.

  • This study intends to raise the fire safety awareness level which the teachers have in infant schools. The results of the study are as follows. The early childhood teachers consider the fire safety awareness level of our society low, though their fire safety awareness level be above the average. The education program for the fire safety is mapped out and the teachers prefer an observation class and a field trip for the program in almost infant schools. The early childhood teachers have difficulty acquiring the knowledge for the field experience and work and getting teaching aids for the fire safety. Therefore the early childhood teachers extremely much desire teaching aids for infants to be developed and diffused.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate perception and demand on early childhood science education lectures. In order to verify this purpose, it was applied to 228 pre-service teachers in a 3-year early childhood teacher - training department. There were 3 grades which finish the teacher practice. The results of this study were the following. First, they reported that the educational contents and the teaching skills they acquired in their preliminary program helped them in making class leading plans and leading skills for every activity pattern. Second, pre-service teacher wanted hands on practical activity that can be directly applied in the field.

The Effects of Early Childhood Teachers' Job Stress and Grit on Their Turnover Intention (유아교사의 직무스트레스와 그릿이 이직의도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of early childhood teachers' job stress and grit on their turnover intention. The subjects were 395 early childhood teachers in the metropolitan areas, and they fulfilled the survey questionnaires on job stress, grit, and turnover intention. The collected data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analyses, and hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS 22.0. In relationships with early childhood teachers' turnover intention, job stress showed negative correlations, but grit showed positive correlations. Both job stress and grit were revealed to have the effects on turnover intention. Since high rate of early childhood teachers' turnover might have negative impact on young children's development along with the quality of education, the results of this study suggest the importance of efforts to reduce job stress and to improve grit.

  • The purpose of this research is to explore the awareness and demand of the field of childhood creativity education using media to promote childhood creativity. First of all, we conducted a focus group interview on the actual situation, awareness, and needs of media - based creativity education in early childhood education with 6 ewperts includes 2 professors 1 director, 1 assistant director, 1 teacher. As a result of FGI, first, the actual condition of childhood creativity education using media utilizes electronic bulletin board, animation fairy tale or children's song. Second, the awareness about childhood creativity education using media is recognizing that childhood can't cur off media with thir lives, so education institution utilizes the media naturally. Lastly, the demand about childhood creativity education using media asks the plan which can use childhood creativity education using media through teacher education or training educating for pre-service teachers desirably.. So, The research suggests the need of the childhood creativity education program using media later on.

A Study on the Process of Perceiving Creativity Concept by Kindergarten Teachers (유아 교사들의 창의성교육에 관한 개념을 인식하는 과정에 관한 연구)

  • This study was carried out qualitative study to figure out the process of the perception of creativity conception by kindergarten teachers in Korea. The interviewees are 4 current teachers in kindergarten in Seoul. Data was collected from semi-structured in-depth interview. Collected data were analyzed using Modified Grounded Theory Approach by Kinoshita, a kind of qualitative research method. As a result of data analysis, kindergarten teachers who experts in child education understood key concepts of creativity as unique thinking and rich expression ability. Such concept is mainly acquired at the class in which direct encounter with children is made. Besides, they formed the concept of creativity through reading books and articles, graduate studies and teaching Nuri Curriculum. In the preceding studies on the concept of creativity targeted to elementary and secondary school teachers, they had shared wide concept, but kindergarten teachers shared only some key concepts on creativity. This result would mean that the concept of creativity in the early children education is relatively coherent and such concept and teaching method are relatively well delivered to children at the education field.
