  • Our country has both relics of long history and cultural inheritance as the resources of cultural sightseeing all over the country. Recently we found the lots of cultural assets in history by the survey of the sightseeing resources. Those are known to the people to give their values and semantics and the government makes on a lot of constant efforts. In this study, a system to investigate the path and to visit the location are developed by combining various gio-spatial data with the multimedia contents. This system provides people with guidance to and locating the cultural assets in the cyber space. The developed guide system is more convenient to provide people with the information and they are able to access the designated cultural assets of the nation easily. In addition, the contents are made by that people are able to use easily in the public area as well as on the internet.

  • From the beginning of the digital age, the need for cultural heritage institutions to share information resources and integrate services has increased, causing many countries to make efforts for cooperation and integration. In line with this, this study examines the similarities and differences between the National Diet Library of Japan and the National Archives of Japan, seeking ways for further cooperation between the two organizations. Their websites, articles, and legislations were reviewed to analyze their histories, systems, laws, policies, and services. In conclusion, building an integrated database for materials in history and an archive for disaster information, as well as conducting joint exhibitions and learning programs, were drawn as viable ways for collaboration.

Characterization and Identification of Lactic Acid Bacteria Isolated from Fermented Milks in Iran (이란 발효 유제품에서 분리한 유산균의 특성)

  • This study aimed to identify lactic acid bacteria isolated from eight fermented milk products in Iran. We enumerated Lactobacillus species using De Man-Rogosa-Sharpe (MRS)-maltose and MRS agar with pH adjusted to 5.2, as well as assessment at 37℃ for 48 hr, studied Streptococcus spp. using M17 agar at 43℃ for 24 hr, and assessed Bifidobacterium species using nalidixic acid, paromomycin sulfate, neomycin sulfate, and lithium chloride (BL-NPNL) agar at 37℃ for 48 hr. The total viable Streptococcus spp. cell in fermented milk varied at 4.73-8.83 log CFU/mL. However, Bifidobacterium spp. were not detected in any of the tested samples. Lactobacilli were not detected in four of the eight samples, and viable Lactobacilli cells in the remaining four samples ranged 2.48-3.85 log CFU/mL. The pH of the tested samples ranged 3.53-4.19, and soluble solids (Brix measurement) ranged 7.5%-17.9%. A total of 130 isolates of gram-positive catalase-positive bacteria were characterized at the species level using 16S rRNA sequencing. Sequence analysis identified six species: Streptococcus thermophilus, Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. sunkii, Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. indicus, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum, Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus, and Levilactobacillus brevis.

Establishment of a Buddhist Arboretum through a Survey of Temple Managers and Laypersons (사찰림 관리자와 일반인의 인식조사를 통한 불교수목원 조성방안)

  • Nowadays, forests have been recognized as valuable resources for biological diversity and tourism/recreation. Temple forests occupy 1.3% of all the Korean forest and are under weak management although their ecological states are very good. Currently in the Buddhist society, the concern for the Buddhist arboretum has been raised as a good alternative for the practical use of temple forests to secure the sustainability of the temple forests as well as to actively meet the demand of the times for forests. This study aims to suggest establishment measures of Buddhist arboretum. This survey was performed on 105 temple forest managers and 130 laypersons. To summarize the results, the two groups differ in opinion. The temple forest managers more concerned for advertizing Buddhist culture and enhancing the image of the temple, while the laypersons had higher expectations for relaxation and education. However, they are similar in putting more emphasis on the conserving the heritage value of the temple and managing the temple forest. Above all, both groups evaluated the needs higher than the urgency and perceived managing temple forest as the most crucial function of a Buddhist arboretum. They also thought that a Buddhist arboretum should be planned to respond to the ecological characteristics of the temple area as well as to be non-exclusive to its users. Based on the important findings, five suggestions for a Buddhist arboretum were proposed. First, a Buddhist arboretum should be carried forward from a long-term point of view, developing a bond of sympathy between members of Buddhist society as well as conducting promotion and education to the general public. Second, the most significant function of a Buddhist arboretum should be preserving the temple forest, with the emphasis on relaxation and education. Third, in order to provide nonexclusive use, a Buddhist arboretum should provide mixed programs applicable to diverse user groups for high user satisfaction and educational effects. Fourth, the Buddhistic identification could be obtained through variety of plants closely associated with Buddhist culture. Lastly, in the process of collecting plants, it is also crucial to reflect the image of the temple and resource property so as to contribute itself in conservation and management of original temple forests. Thereby all Buddhist Arboretum can be classified into two types; preservation/collection and display/education/rest.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the importance of the stone cultural landscape resources is a kind of management of Jeju cultural landscape. For typical stone cultural landscape of Jeju, to target South Korea and China experts, to evaluate the importance of each resource. Using the AHP technique in the method of analysis. As a result of the importance analysis of evaluation criteria, Korean and Chinese experts evaluated the Outstanding Universal Value(ⅲ_To bear a unique or at least exceptional testimony to a cultural tradition or to a civilization which is living or which has disappeared) as the most important. and Experts from both countries evaluated the field walls as the most important landscape resource in importance of resources about each evaluation criteria and overall importance. The results of this study, it will be able to provide quantitative information in terms of landscape management of Jeju by deriving the priority of the resources from the standpoint of comparison and conservation management on the importance of local resources, which is the basis useful from the point of view of conservation and cultural heritage management about stone cultural landscape resources in Jeju. However, as South Korea and China in the comparative study, to generalize the global universal value it is seen that there is a limit, seems to limit point of this study.

Leaf Morphological Characteristics and Variation of Sorbus alnifolia (Sieb. et Zucc.) K. Koch in 11 Natural Habitats (국내자생 팥배나무 11개 천연집단의 잎 형태적 특성과 변이)

  • This study was conducted to provide a basic data such as leaf morphological characteristics, total 110 individual trees selected from 11 wild population, for selective breeding. As a result of investigation of the twenty morphological characteristics of the leaf, there were statistically significant differences in all leaf characteristics among the populations. Especially, Mt. Mani population had larger leaf length (LL), width (LW) and area (LAR) than other populations. On the other hand, Mt. Beakwoon and Mt. Duryun had smaller leaf size (LL, LW and LAR) among the populations. Its principal component analysis (PCA) results showed that it represented 72.9% accumulated explanation from three principal component. The characteristics such as leaf area, leaf length and leaf width were highly contributed for classification among populations. According to the cluster analysis, the natural S. alnifolia populations were classified into five groups and Mt. Mani population was different from the other population.

The Effect of Changes in Soil Microbial Communities on Geochemical Behavior of Arsenic (토양 미생물 군집의 변화가 비소의 지구화학적 거동에 미치는 영향)

  • To investigate the effect of changes in microbial communities on arsenic release in soil, experiments were conducted on arsenic-contaminated soils (F1, G7, and G10). The experiments involved three groups of the experimental sets; ① BAC: sterilized soil + Bacillus fungorum, ② IND: indigenous bacteria, and ③ MIX: indigenous bacteria + B. fungorum, and incubated them for seven weeks using lactate as a carbon source under anaerobic conditions. The experimental results showed that higher concentrations of arsenic were released from the IND and MIX soils, where indigenous bacterial communities existed, compared to BAC. Significantly higher levels of arsenic were released from the G10 soil, which showed higher pH, compared to the F1 and G7 soils. In the G10 soil, unlike other soils, the proportion of As(III) among the released arsenic was also low. These results may be attributed to differences in microbial community composition that vary depending on the soil. By the seventh week, the diversity of microbial species in the IND and MIX soils had significantly decreased, with dominant orders such as Eubacteriales and Bacillales thriving. Bacteroidales in the seventh week of the MIX in the F1 soil, Rummeliibacillus in the seventh week of the IND and MIX of the G7 soil, and Enterobacterales in the IND and MIX of the G10 soil were dominant. At present, it is not known which mechanisms of microbial community changes affect the geochemical behavior of arsenic; however, these results indicate that microbiome in the soil may function as one of the factors regulating arsenic release.

  • 21세기라는 새로운 세기를 맞이하여 콘크리트 산업계는 시대의 변화에 부합하는 경영 방침이나 기술력이 요구되었으며 지금 까지 보다 더욱 힘든 환경을 맞고 있다고 생각된다. 예를 들어 환경 문제는 1992년의 환경과 개발에 관한 UN회의를 계기로 지구온난화, 해양오염, 산성비, 오존층 파괴, 열대림의 감소, 사막화 등에 대한 국제적인 관심이 커지고 있어서 21세기는 환경의 세기가 될 것으로 보이며 이에 따른 신속한 대책 수립이 요구되고 있는 시점에 와있다. 또한 자원 리사이클링과 환경에 관련된 각종 법령 등이 국가 차원, 혹은 지방 자치단체 차원에서 제정되고 있어 이에 대한 대응 방안이 요구되고 있다. 더욱이 여러 사회단체나 NGO 등의 압력으로 각종 공공사업의 수행에 있어서도 기본 이념인 편리성, 안전성, 내구성 공평성, 투명성 등에 덧붙여서 공해. 미관. 생태계, 건강, 복지, 문화 유산 등에 대한 배려도 요구되고 있으며 적용이 이루어지고 있는 추세이다.(중략)

  • The paradigm of agricultural and rural policies has shifted from food production and profitability to the competitiveness of rural areas through the discovery, grants and use of the agricultural and rural resources' potential value. This study aims to discover the value of the agriculture and rural resources and intend to offer the method for discovering resources and its value as the agricultural heritage. To this end, the functions and values of the agricultural and rural resource, the criteria and procedure of Globally and Nationally Important Agricultural Heritage System which is leading institutions were investigated. The policy implications were proposed in the process and series of steps of discovery and evaluation of the pluralistic value of the agriculture and rural resources and agricultural heritage designation and management.
