Causes of Under-staging in Patients with Gastric Cancer That was Proven to be Unresectable after a Laparotomy - Correlation with CT Findings (비절제 위암의 원인분석-전산화단층촬영(CT) 소견을 중심으로)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the causes of under-staging in patients with advanced gastric cancer that was proven to be unresectable after a laparotomy. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 25 gastric cancer patients who had undergone a diagnostic laparotomy between 2001 and 2005. For the preoperative evaluation, spiral CT and multidetector-row CT were performed. We analyzed the clinicopathologic features of patients and compared the image findings and the results of surgery. The causes of under-staging were divided into 3 groups; patient factor, CT factor, and interpretation factor. Results: Grossly, there were 12 cases of Borrmann type-III tumors and 13 cases of Borrmann type-IV tumors. The most frequent histologic type was poorly differentiated adenocarcinomas (8 cases) and signet ring cell carcinomas (7 cases). There were 13 cases of adjacent organ invasion, and the pancreas was the most frequently invaded organ (9 cases). There were 17 cases of peritoneal metastasis, and 3 cases of distant lymph node metastasis. For the cause of under-staging, there were four cases of patient factor, 19 cases of interpretation factor, and 9 cases of CT factor. In three cases, the cause of under-staging could not be identified. Conclusion: CT interpretation factor was the most frequent cause of under-staging in the preoperative diagnosis with gastric cancer patients. Therefore, more cautious CT interpretation is necessary to avoid unnecessary laparotomies in gastric cancer patients.

  • Breast cancer is the sccond most female cancer patient in the entire female cancer patient, and has emerged as the highest contributor to female cancer deaths. If breast cancer id detected early, the cure rate is 92 percent. However, if early detection fails, breast cancer has a very high rate of metastasis. The transition from cancer to cancer has become more successful as cancer progresses. Early diagnosis of cancer is an important factor in improving quality of life. Examples of breast cancer include Mammograph, ultrasound, and Momotome. Mommography is not only painful for the examiner, but also for easy access to breast cancer exam inations. In this paper, breast cancer diagnosis data mammograph data was used. In addition, the Neural Network were classified for early diagnosis of breast cancer early using NEWFM. After learning of data using NEWFM, the accuracy of the breast cancer data classification was 84.4391%.

  • The serial arc is one of factors causing electrical fires. Over past decades, various researches have been carried out to detect arc occurrences. Even though frequency analysis, wavelet, and statistical features have been used, additional steps such as transformation and feature extraction are required. On the contrary, deep learning models directly use the raw data without any feature extraction processes. Therefore, the usage of time-domain data is preferred, but the performance is not satisfactory. To solve this problem, subsequent 1-D signals are transformed into 2-D data that can feed into a convolutional neural network (CNN). Experiments validated that CNN model outperforms deep neural network (DNN) by the classification accuracy of 8.6%. In addition, data augmentation is utilized, resulting in the accuracy improvement by 14%.

  • A material database has been developed for VOCs and formaldehyde emitted from building materials in this study. New classification system has been made by correlating the classification methods used in Korean Air Cleaning and Environmental Protection Agency. The developed databases include emission rates of TVOC, 5VOC and formaldehyde emitted from each building material. In addition, the databases can be used as an input variable to estimate indoor air quality (IAQ) using computer simulation since they also contain chemical component and general imformation. Box plot was used to do statistical analysis for emission rates of formaldehyde and TVOCs from different types of building materials. Also we confirmed the building materials worsening IAQ by categorizing the emission characteristic of different types of pollutants.

A Study on the Characteristics of Elderly Suicide and Suicidal Type (노인 자살의 특성과 자살유형에 관한 연구)

  • There are less studies on the elderly suicide even though it's steep increase. The purpose of the present study was to investigate factors that influence on the elderly suicide and to categorize them. For these purpose, A total of 23 cases were analyzed through qualitative contents analysis. Specifically, on the basis of the stress-vulnerability model, we scrutinized vulnerability factors(classified personal, family-environment factors) and precipitating events(classified interpersonal events) influencing on the elderly suicide. Personal factor was to be classified into personal mental health, physical health and problematic behavior. Family-environment factor was divided family relationship problem and economic problem. Interpersonal events belonging to the precipitating events was to be classified into interpersonal loss and interpersonal conflict. As the results of this study, elderly suicide classified into 3 types, that is, 'risk type suicide', 'event-response type suicide', 'complex type'. And then we discussed the characteristics of the suicidal types and suggestions for reduction of elderly suicide.

  • 분류가 모서리에 충돌할 때 발생하는 순음성 소리인 쐐기소리(edgetone)는 공력음향의 대표적인 현상으로서 지금까지 수많은 연구가 있어 왔으며 그 대부분의 특성이 규명되었다고 할 수 있다. 쐐기소리의 발생기구인 되먹임(feedback) 이론을 처음으로 제안한 이는 Powell로서 그는 되먹임사이클의 위상조건에 의하여 주파수특성에 관한 모델을 제안하였으며, 최근 그 모델의 위상인자에 관하여 Kwon은 새로운 값을 제안한 바 있다. 그런데, 쐐기소리의 이론은 주로 분류가 쐐기나 벽에 충돌할 경우에 집중되어 왔으며 분류가 원통에 충돌하여 발생하는 경우에 관한 연구는 Krothapalli의 초음속분류에 관한 연구와 Mochizuki등의 아음속분류에서 원통지름의 영향에 관한 연구를 들 수 있을 뿐이다. Mochizuki등은 원통의 지름이 노즐의 높이보다 작은 경우에 쐐기 소리의 주파수가 원통의 와류이탈(vortex shedding) 주파수와 같은 것을 관찰하였다. 그러나 분류와 원통이 작용하여 발생하는 쐐기소리의 주파수 특성에 관한 이론적 해석을 시도한 연구는 없으며 또한 방사음장의 특성에 관하여도 Han과 Kwon에 의한 모델이 발표된 바 있으나 실험적으로 입증되지 못하였다. 따라서, 본 연구의 목적은 2 fig.1과 같이 2차원 분류가 원통에 충돌할 때 발생하는 쐐기소리의 주파수특성의 정량적인 모델을 세우고 방사음장의 지향특성의 이론 모델을 확립하는 것이다. 먼저 주파수특성을 실험하고 되먹임이론을 적용하여 분석하므로써 유효음원의 위치를 구하고 또한, 수직벽에 작용하여 발생하는 충돌음(impinging tone)의 경우를 실험하여 주파수특성을 비교 고찰하므로써 유효음원의 위치에 관한 이론을 입증한다. 아울러 원통과 평면벽의 각 경우에 방사음장의 지향특성을 측정하고 고찰한다.2,5,6]을 단계별로 고찰하여, 점점 까다로워져 가는 선박 진동규제[3,4]에 대처하고 승무원의 안락성에 대한 욕구, 구조물의 안전성, 장비의 성능보존이 만족되는 저진동 선박의 건조를 위해 향후 해결해야할 과제들을 도출하여 선박진동분야이 연구개발 방향을 제시하고자 한다. 하는 것은 진단의 정밀도에 문제가 있을 것으로 생각된다. 따라서 언어적진리치가 도입되어 [상당히 확실], [확실], [약간 확실] 등의 언어적인 표현을 이용하여 애매성을 표현하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 간이진단 결과로부터 추출된 애매한 진단결과중에서 가장 가능성이 높은 이상원인을 복수로 선정하고, 여러 종류의 수치화할 수 없는 언어적(linguistic)인 정보ㄷㄹ을 if-then 형식의 퍼지추론으로 종합하는 회전기계의 이상진단을 위한 정밀진단 알고리즘을 제안하고 그 유용성을 검토한다. 존재하여도 모우드 변수들을 항상 정확하게 구할 수 있으며, 또한 알고리즘의 안정성이 보장된 것이다.. 여기서는 실험실 수준의 평 판모델을 제작하고 실제 현장에서 이루어질 수 있는 진동제어 구조물에 대 한 동적실험 및 FRS를 수행하는 과정과 동일하게 따름으로써 실제 발생할 수 있는 오차나 error를 실험실내의 차원에서 파악하여 진동원을 있는 구조 물에 대한 진동제어기술을 보유하고자 한다. 이용한 해마의 부피측정은 해마경화증 환자의 진단에 있어 육안적인 MR 진단이 어려운 제한된 경우에만 실제적 도움을 줄 수 있는 보조적인 방법으로 생각된다.ofile whereas relaxivity at high field is not affected by τS. Disease Classification using Random Subspace Method based on Gene Interaction Information and mRMR Filter (유전자 상호작용 정보와 mRMR 필터 기반의 Random Subspace Method를 이용한 질병 진단)

  • With the advent of DNA microarray technologies, researches for disease diagnosis has been actively in progress. In typical experiments using microarray data, problems such as the large number of genes and the relatively small number of samples, the inherent measurement noise and the heterogeneity across different samples are the cause of the performance decrease. To overcome these problems, a new method using functional modules (e.g. signaling pathways) used as markers was proposed. They use the method using an activity of pathway summarizing values of a member gene's expression values. It showed better classification performance than the existing methods based on individual genes. The activity calculation, however, used in the method has some drawbacks such as a correlation between individual genes and each phenotype is ignored and characteristics of individual genes are removed. In this paper, we propose a method based on the ensemble classifier. It makes weak classifiers based on feature vectors using subsets of genes in selected pathways, and then infers the final classification result by combining the results of each weak classifier. In this process, we improved the performance by minimize the search space through a filtering process using gene-gene interaction information and the mRMR filter. We applied the proposed method to a classifying the lung cancer, it showed competitive classification performance compared to existing methods.

  • Many persons, both children and adults, suffer from impaired hearing. The handicaps that arise from this are economic, educational and above all, social. These persons need help, both medical and educational. In order to plan facilities for the medical treat ment, the rehabilitation, and the special education required by those with impaired hearing, we must know how many persons with hearing problems there are and the severity of their handicaps. The first step in knowing these is to devide hearing impairent into categories of handicap. Historically, since Beasley (1940) proposed progressive stages of deafness in terms of social disability, there was no well organized classification. of hearing handicap except related material from Huzing (1959) and Silverman (1960). In 1965, Goodman advocated a guide hearing threshold levels and degres of relating hearing impairment. During recent one year, on the bases of Goodman classification of hearing impairment and the report from Illinois Comission on children (1968), we have studied about hearing handicaps and speech life for the 180 cases, who visited to our otolaryngology department with hearing impairment. Now, we report the results of study with the referred references.

Development of Ultra-compact LED Package and Analysis of Defect Type (극소형 LED 패키지의 개발과 불량 유형의 분석)

  • This paper introduces the mold technology for the development of ultra-compact package of less than 1mm, and also analyze the error pattern of the results using this mold technology. The existing ultra-small mold structure was one-piece, which caused the surface of EDM to be rough and increase the error rate. This has been an obstacle to further reducing the size of the mold. On the other hand, the proposed mold technology tries to overcome the limitation of the one-piece type by using the prefabricated type method. This paper also classify defect patterns in the results of the proposed mold structure and analyze the occurrence probability of each pattern to use as a basic data to develop a detector.

Case Studies: Schedule Delay Factors and Delay Prevention Program for Concrete Frame Works in Apartment Construction Project (사례분석을 통한 아파트 골조공사의 공기지연 요인 도출 및 개선방안)

  • Project delay is one of the most crucial impact factors in the construction process from a schedule and cost management perspective. This study focused on analyzing the causes of concrete frame work delay in the apartment construction project. According to the analysis of project cost composition, the direct cost of concrete works was highest in most samples. Actual delays of concrete works were analyzed for the six different construction components. Causes of delay were grouped into two categories; preconstruction and construction phases and these two groups were further divided into sub-groups. Analysis results revealed that the most significant delay was occurred in the 1st. floor concrete skeleton work. For each delay factor, implications of delay as well as suggestion(s) for reducing the possibility of schedule delay are provided.
