여고생의 신체만족도와 외모관리행동에 관한 연구 (A study on the Body Cathexis and Appearance Management Behaviors of High School Girls)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the body cathexis and appearance management behaviors of the high school girls according to their demographic, physical, psychological. and school related variables. Data was obtained from 378 high school girls in Jeonju City by self-administered questionnaires from March to April. 2001. The results of this study were; 1. Body cathexis of high school twirls was relatively low, face and upper body cathexis were higher than other body parts. but lower-body and total body cathexis were low. 2. Body cathexis of high school twirls was in exact proportion to their parents' educational level total household income. and monthly pocket money. And it was higher in case of tall. light. external personality. higher self-esteem, art or physical high school girls. and the vocational high school twirls. with good academic records. and popular among friends. 3. High school girls showed higher appearance management behaviors such as bath, skin care. hair care. but they did risky appearance management behaviors such as drug use. diet. plastic cosmetic a tittle. The students in case of mother's higher educational level. more monthly income of household, more pocket money. external personalities. lower self-esteem, art or physical high school girls and the vocational high school girls, with good academic records, popular among friends showed higher appearance management behaviors .

신부의 추구이미지와 외모관리행동에 관한 질적연구 (A Qualitative Research on Pursuing Image and Appearance Management Behavior of Brides)

  • The purpose of this study was to examined which the pursuing image, make-up and hair style desire on their wedding day and how the future brides managed their appearance for the wedding. This qualitative research was based on the data collected by in-depth interviews with 15 brides in their 20s, 30s and 40s who reside in Daegu and Gyeongbuk. The results of the study are shown follow: The images that the brides most pursued for the wedding day were elegant images and refine images. The favorite wedding-dress styles of brides were elegant, refine, lovely, classical, and natural style in order of preference. The design of the dress was top priority when selecting the wedding-dress and it was followed by the function that complements anyones' shape. The brides liked natural style wedding make-up most and refine and young one followed. They considered eye make-up most important after skin expression, that is, covering defects of their skin. Concerning wedding hair styles, an up-style which is typical for wedding is desired most and a natural flowing hair style second. Regarding fitness, they mainly took physical exercise and went on a diet which is not unreasonably harsh.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences between the body cathexis, appearance management behaviors and satisfaction with apparel fit according to physical figure of college women who had deep interests in their body and appearance. Data for this study was obtained from 413 college women in Taegu and Kyungpook Province. Means, t-test, ANOVA and Scheffe's post hoc comparison were used in data analysis. The result of this study were; 1. It was found that both body Cathexis and fit satisfaction of college women were generally low. College women were less satisfied with their body and fit of apparel. The unsatisfied body parts were thighs, abdomen and hip. 2. Significant differences in Satisfaction with apparel fit were found in skirt length, slacks length, thigh according to height and significant difference in satisfaction with apparel fit were found in armhole, abdomen, calf according to weight. 3. Significant differences in appearance management behaviors were not found according to height, but significant differences in diet, exercise and clothing use were found according to weight. Also significant differences in diet and clothing use were found according to R$\ddot{o}$hrer index.

외모관리동기에 따른 의복 및 화장행동 (Clothing and Make-up Behavior by Appearance Management Motive)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze and categorize the factors of appearance management motivation of male and female college students in Busan. It also aimed to analyze the differences in their clothing behavior and make-up behavior. The data were analyzed by Factor analysis, Cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test, and multi-response analysis. The results of this study are as follows: There were four factors including self -development, emphasis on the physical appearance, individuality-seeking, and sexual appealing. These subjects were categorized into three different types of groups: social-self-management type, passive appearance management type, and individuality-seeking type. In terms of the differences in the clothing purchase behavior of the physical appearance management motivation group, there were significant differences in the criteria of their selections for clothing. The most important factor was the design, followed by the price and the fabrics. The differences in cosmetics selection were investigated in order to analyze the differences in their make-up behavior of physical appearance management motivation group. The results showed that the quality, the price, and the manufacturing country were considered as the most important criteria for their selection of cosmetics.

남성들의 외모관리행동에 관한 연구(I) - 연령을 중심으로 - (A Study on Appearance Management Behavior of Male Consumers(I) - Focusing on the Age -)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the appearance management behavior and its motives according to male consumers' age. A set of questionnaire was administered to 398 male consumers. Data were analyzed by utilizing frequency, factor analysis, ANONA, and Crosstabs. The results showed that factors of the appearance management behavior were classified into such as fashion oriented, figure management, figure improvement, skin care, cosmetic surgery, hair care, and health oriented. The male consumers age in the 20s, were more conscious of the appearance management. The male consumers aged over 40s were more aware of figure management and hair care for better health oriented. Appearance management behavior motives were classified into individuality, sociality, and interest arousal. Most of the male consumers showed higher interests in sociality among appearance management motives for better personal relations at workplace and increasing competitive edge.

김정은 집권 이후 북한 여성들의 헤어스타일에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Hair Style Design in North Korea)

  • 본 논문은 북한 헤어스타일과 북한 미용 산업현장의 실태를 파악하여 북한 여성들의 생활상을 이해하고 남북한의 내적 통합을 꾀하는데 일조하고자 하였다. 연구방법으로는 김정은 집권 이후 북한 매체, 언론매체, 북한이탈주민의 증언 등에서 나타난 북한 주민들의 외모관리행동을 살펴보고 그 중에서도 헤어행동에 대해 분석하였다. 연구 결과 김정은 정권 이후 유학자와 해외 물품 밀수를 통해 일부 개선되었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 북한의 미용 훈련기관인 미용술 보급소를 통해 미용교육이 체계적으로 이루어지고 있으며 고정적인 월급제에서 능력에 따른 수당제로 변화하였다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 북한을 방문하여 연구하지 못하였다는 제한점이 보이고 있다. 향후 북한 헤어 관련 연구에 보탬이 될 것으로 사료된다.

일부 대학생의 외모관리 행동이 구강건강 행동에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of Appearance Management Behavior on Oral Practice Behavior of Some College Students)

  • Purpose : The college student period is pivotal for establishing oral health management behaviors and habits that persist in adulthood; it is necessary to develop the correct behaviors. Appearance management behavior not only involves the management of an individual's appearance but also ensures a healthy quality of life. Additionally, it is related to health and oral health behavior. The purpose of this study was to determine how college students' appearance management behavior affects their oral health management behavior and to provide basic data for developing policies appropriate for the lifestyle of college students. Methods : A self-administered questionnaire was completed by 450 university students in Gyeonggi, Choung-nam, Daejeon on April 27, 2022. The survey comprised 5 questions about general characteristics, 18 about appearance management behavior, and 8 about oral health behavior. The sum of the practice questions were calculated, with higher scores indicating better oral health behavior. Results : The oral health management behavior exhibited was generally high. Notably, the health-related group (61.2 %) demonstrated significantly higher levels of clothing management (60.5 %), makeup management (56.6 %), and skincare (56.6 %) behaviors, whereas body management behavior (61.2 %) was deemed 'normal' (p<.05). The results of the stepwise multiple regression analysis examining the impact of appearance management behavior on oral health management indicated that clothing management (β=0.17) and skincare behaviors (β=0.12) were influential factors. Among these, clothing management behavior was the most influential. Conclusion : To promote oral health practices among college students, this study incorporated factors related to appearance management into oral health education to increase participation and interest. We intend our findings to serve as foundational data for developing oral health education programs that integrate elements of appearance management.

청소년기 여학생의 외모에 대한 인식 및 체중조절 실태 조사 (A survey of body shape perception and weight control of adolescent girls in three areas of Korea)

  • 목 적 : 본 연구는 대도시, 중소도시, 농촌지역의 청소년기 여학생의 외모에 대한 인식과 다이어트 실태, 식습관이나 생활습관과 전반적인 건강상태를 조사, 파악함으로써 무리한 체중감량에 따른 건강상의 문제점을 발견하고, 이를 근거로 외모에 대한 바람직한 신체상을 정립하고 나아가 올바른 체중감량프로그램 개발을 위한 기초자료를 얻고자 하였다. 방 법 : 2002년 5월부터 2002년 11월까지 7개월에 걸쳐, 서울, 안산, 파주의 초등학교 3개교, 중학교 4개교, 고등학교 4개교를 선정, 11-17세의 2,891명의 여학생을 대상으로 체형인식과 체중조절 행태, 행동 특성, 식이장애에 대하여 설문 조사와 신체계측을 실시하였으며, 또한 대조군으로는 남학생 891명을 대상으로 같은 조사를 시행하였다 결 과 : 1) 청소년 여학생 저체중의 비율은 대도시, 중소도시에서 농촌지역으로 갈수록 저체중 학생들의 비율이 감소하였다. 2) 대상 여학생의 46.3%가 스스로 약간 또는 매우 뚱뚱하다고 생각하고 있으며, 3.2%는 저체중인데도 불구하고 스스로 뚱뚱하다고 생각하였다. 체형 만족도에 있어서는 여학생의 57.9%가 스스로 체형에 불만족스럽다고 답하였으며, 이는 비만도가 높을수록, 나이가 많을수록 높아졌으나 지역별로는 그다지 큰 편차를 보이지 않았다. 3) 여학생에서 다이어트 경험 비율이 남학생에 비해 훨씬 높게 나타났으며, 비만할수록, 연령이 증가할수록, 본인의 체형에 대해 불만족할수록, 체중조절 경험의 비율이 높았다. 4) 식이장애점수(EAT-26)는 여학생이 $13.2{\pm}5.1$점, 남학생이 $12.6{\pm}4.5$점으로 여학생이 남학생보다 유의하게 높았다(P<0.01). 한편 식이장애 고위험군 여학생은 10.9% 였으며, 서울 지역에 거주 하는 경우, 날씬해야 하는 스트레스가 큰 경우, 외모관리에 지출하는 비용이 큰 경우, 자신이 건강하다고 인식하지 않는 경우 식이 장애 위험도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 결 론 : 연구 결과 청소년의 신체상의 왜곡과 부적절한 체중 감량 시도가 청소년 사이에서 광범위하게 이루어지고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이는 향후 우리나라 여성에서 여러 식이장애 및 관련 질환의 발생률이 높아질 가능성이 크다는 것을 시사하며, 따라서 이를 조기에 바로잡을 정책적, 사회제도적 뒷받침이 조속히 마련되어야 하겠다.

Analysis of Types and Characteristics of Clothing Lifestyle of the New Forty Generation

  • 본 연구는 30대에서 50대 남성 직장인 394명을 대상으로 의생활 라이프스타일을 유형화 한 후 유형별 특성을 분석하고자 하였다. 자료를 처리하기 위해 PASW 18.0 통계 프로그램을 이용하여, 빈도분석, k-평균 군집분석, 일원분산분석 및 교차분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 의생활 라이프스타일은 '패션 리더형(22.3%)', '가격 민감형(12.2%)', '패션 무관심형(27.9%)', '놈코어 패션형(37.6%)' 등 4개의 집단으로 유형화되었다. 둘째, 의생활 라이프스타일 유형별 사회경제적 특성에서는 연령, 결혼여부, 직업, 월평균 가계소득에서만 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 셋째, 의생활 라이프스타일 유형별 의복 구매 행동에서는 월평균 외모 관리 비용, 정장 소유 여부, 월평균 의복 구입 비용, 평균 정장 구입 비용에서 통계적으로 차이를 보였다.

샹그릴라 신드롬에 따른 외모 관리 행동에 관한 연구 (Relationship between Shangri-la Syndrome and Appearance Management Behavior)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate appearance management behavior of Koreans in their 40s and 50s according to Shangri-La Syndrome'. Shangri-La Syndrome means a social phenomena which people in their 40s and 50s want to live as young as people in their 20s and 30s. The questionnaires were distributed to 500 people in their 40s and 50s living in Ulsan, Dague, and Seoul. Of 500 questionnaires, 368 of them were used in data analysis. Descriptives, frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis were performed using SPSS 12.0. The degree of Shangri-La Syndrome was evaluated by a cognitive age. As a result, first, people in their 40s and 50s showed to recognize themselves about 9.1 years younger than actual ages. Second, the attitude to appearance management behavior revealed to be generally positive and the correlation between the cognitive age and the attitude to appearance management behavior was presented to be low and negative. Third, types of appearance management behavior were classified skin care and clothing, figure management, plastic surgery, hair. The smaller cognitive ages were, in other words, the larger the degree of Shangri-La Syndrome of respondents were, the more positive their opinions to the types of appearance management behavior were. Among the types of appearance management behavior, figure management was shown to be the most effective means for appearance management but, clothing the most frequent usable one. In conclusion, it was found out that the relationship between Shangri-La Syndrome and appearance management behavior was low but positive.
