  • This study is a qualitative study to explore the experiences of nursing students' psychological nursing practice in-school. The subjects of this study were 62 students who were the 3rd grade nursing students at a University in Gangwon-do. The data were collected from August 3rd to August 20th, 2020. For data analysis, Colaizzi's qualitative analysis method was applied. Six categories were derived from data analysis: 1) Lingering affection for clinical practice in field. 2) Achievement through learning 3) Fear of nurse's role in future 4) Burden for many tasks 5) Feeling free of stress from clinical practice in field 6) Importance of cooperation with other departments. The positive aspects of in-school practice education, which from nursing students' evaluation, were immediate feedback, detailed explanations, and indirect experiences. Based on this study result, it is recommended to develop in-school nursing practice education program for gap-reducing with clinical practice. It would be consisted of various contents: simulation, online/non-face-to-face practice, face-to-face practice for indirect experience. In addition, these multi-aspect effort is needed more in psychological nursing practice education to reduce the gap with clinical practice such as therapeutic communication and hallucination interventions.

  • The aim of this study is to verify the relationships of factors affecting nursing performance of clinical nurses focused on positive affective events. The subjects of this study were 275 clinical nurses from secondary and tertiary general hospitals. Data collection was conducted for two months from May 2021 through an online survey through snowball sampling. Data analyzed was using SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 26.0. The variables affecting job satisfaction included direct effect of positive affective events (β=.65, p<.001), and direct effect of positive affectivity (β=.10, p=.038). Job satisfaction (β=.47, p<.001) had statistically significant direct effects on nursing performance. Positive affective events (β=.32, p=.003) and positive affectivity (β=.05, p=.039) had statistically significant indirect effects on nursing performance. These variables explained for 22% of nursing performance. However, emotional labor had no significant effect on job satisfaction and nursing performance. The results indicate that positive affective events and positive affectivity result in high degree of job satisfaction. Job satisfaction would increase the level of nursing performance. Therefore, in order to improve nursing performance, it is necessary to provide educational opportunities and interventions that can promote positive work environment and positive affectivity.

  • Given the ongoing discussion regarding remote music therapy following the COVID-19 pandemic and the pivotal role of parental involvement in it, this study investigated parents' perceptions on their roles in a synchronous videoconferencing music therapy for their children with developmental disabilities. A total of 32 participants participated in an online survey comprising 68 questions. Descriptive statistics summarized the collected responses, and Pearson's correlation was conducted to examine the relationship between perceived parental roles, psychological burden, and willingness to participate in future remote music therapy. The findings showed that parents of children with developmental disabilities acknowledged the benefits of tele-music therapy and possessed substantial information about its implementation. Furthermore, they reported their roles of providing physical, participatory, and mediating support. As parents exhibited greater satisfaction with their role in supporting their children's participation or managing their off-task behaviors, they perceived reduced psychological burden. These findings hold significant implications for expansion of tele-music therapy strategies to address the unique needs of children with developmental disabilities and support their parents as immediate mediators for their children.

  • This study is descriptive research to identify the effect of COVID-19 stress on premenstrual syndrome in female college students and the mediating effect of depression and coping with premenstrual syndrome. The data were collected through an on-line survey for 20 days from November 11 to November 30, 2021, targeting female college students attending C College located in S city. As a result of analyzing a total of 161 data, COVID-19 stress was positively correlated with premenstrual syndrome(r=.383, p<.001) and depression(r=.436, p<.001), and coping with premenstrual syndrome had a positive correlation only in premenstrual syndrome(r=.190, p=.016). As a result of verifying the mediating effect of depression and coping with premenstrual syndrome between COVID-19 stress and premenstrual syndrome, COVID-19 stress had a significant direct effect on premenstrual syndrome(β=4.907, p=.002), and depression(β=6.780, p<.001), and depression had a significant direct effect on premenstrual syndrome(β=.383, p=<.001), coping with premenstrual syndrome had a direct effect on premenstrual syndrome(β=4.292, p=.030) respectively. The indirect effect of verifying the mediating effect in the relationship between COVID-19 stress and premenstrual syndrome confirmed that there was a statistically significant effect only in the path via depression(95% CI, 1.282 to 4.140). Therefore, it is necessary to develop an intervention strategy to reduce depression and alleviate premenstrual syndrome symptoms by controlling related stress, such as COVID-19 stress, in preparation for the outbreak of new infectious diseases and pandemic situations such as COVID-19.

  • Purpose: This study examined the factors affecting sugar intake in adults based on social cognitive theory. Methods: An online survey regarding the intake frequency of sugar-source food, factors related to sugar intake based on social cognitive theory, perceptions of sugar intake, and health-related factors was conducted in October 2019 with 1,022 adults (502 men and 520 women) aged 19-49 years. The intake frequency of sugar-source food was divided into tertiles using percentiles based on the daily frequency. Results: The daily intake frequency of sugar-source foods was 4 times, with beverages (1.87 times/day) and sweetened coffee (0.81 times/day) being the highest among the food groups and types, respectively. The group with a high intake frequency of sugar-source food had a high negative outcome expectation for reducing sugar intake, and was in a home and social environment with easy access to sweet food. Women in this group showed low self-efficacy and poor behavioral capability in reducing sugar intake. Self-control had the lowest average score among the factors of social cognitive theory (2.56/5 points), followed by nutrition knowledge related to sugar (5.42/10 points). As a result of regression analysis, the social cognitive factor affecting the intake frequency of sugar-sourced foods was found to be home environment for both men and women. On the other hand, factors contributing to reducing sugar intake were positive outcome expectations for men and behavioral skills for women. Conclusion: Dietary education and nutritional interventions for adults, including changes in the home environment with easy access to sweet foods, can reduce sugar intake and raise positive expectations for reduced sugar intake.
