Visual Object Query language(VOQL) proposed recently is a visual object-oriented database query language which can effectively represent queries on complex structured data, since schema information is visually included in query expressions. VOQL, which is a graph-based query language with inductively defined semantics, can concisely represent various text-based path expressions by graph, and clearly convey the semantics of complex path expressions. however, the existing VOQL assumes that all the attributes are multi-valued, and cannot visualize the concept of binding of object variables. therefore, VPAL query expressions are not intuitive, so that it is difficult to extend the existing VOQL theoretically. In this paper, we propose VOQL that improved on these problems. The improved VOQL visualizes the result of a single-valued attribute and that of a multi-valued attribute as a visual element and a subblob, respectively, and specifies the binding of object variables by introducing visual variables, so that the improved VOQL intuitively and clearly represents the semantics of queries.

Recently as the user request on NoD (News-on-Demand) is largely increasing, there are a lot of researches to fulfill it. However, because of short life-cycle of new video data and periodical change of video data depending on anchor, it is difficult to apply the conventional video storage techniques to NOD applications directly. For this, we design and implement low-level storage manager for efficient storage and retrieval of multimedia data in NOD Services. Our low-level storage manager not only efficiently sotres video stream dat of new video itself, but also handles its index information. It provides an inverted file method for efficient text-based retrieval and an X-tree index structure for high-dimensional feature vectors. In addition, our low-level storage manager provides some application program interfaces (APIs) for storing video objects itself and index information extracted from hierarchial new video and some APIs for retrieving video objects easily by using cursors. Finally, we implement our low-level storage manager based on SHORE (Scalable Heterogeneous Object REpository) storage system by sunig a standard C++ language under UNIX operating system.

Starting the popularity of Korean dramas exported to China in 1996, the Korean wave started around the world market. Afterwards, as the Korean culture itself as well as dramas rapidly emerged as contents of the Korean market, the foreign direct sale consumers who want to buy Korean goods directly online are increasing at an alarming rate. This study each selected 4 domestic shopping malls and 4 foreign famous shopping malls which were conducting a global marketing currently and compared/researched them in the design aspect in order to apprehend if domestic online shopping malls were properly meeting the consumer environment of the foreign market. As a result, it was revealed that domestic online shopping malls conducting the global marketing could not fully understand the internet environment by countries and were going through a limit of the information delivery by SMS, and could not use the visual signs actively which were useful to the meaning delivery. Accordingly, this thesis suggested a plan to actively utilize the variable element considering various screens to the design, plan to efficiently design the text for solving the language problem by countries, and plan to design using the developing IT technology as a solution to those problems.

This study takes a look at diverse artistic strategies is taking as a graphic novel of participation. Pascal Croci has used and combined the forms to convey the message he want as a writer of an inclusive graphic novel, image-text. The purpose of this study is to develop rail rockfall and landslide information system to manage spatial database using GIS. For this, a spatial database containing information such as railroad, map, topographic analysis, meteorological data, and rockfall has been constructed for 2.5 km or 5 km buffer zone from the Kyungchun, Youngdong, Jungang, Taebak and Jungsun Rairoad where risk of landslide occurrence potential is high. For management of the spatial database, railroad rockfall and landslide information system has been developed. The information system consists of view, table, chart, layout and project environment. The functions provided in the system are data conversion, editing, labeling, zoom in and out, map making, graphic editing, text DB management, charting, on-line help as well as input, retrieve and output of spatial database. The system was developed using ArcView script language Avenue, and consisted of pull-down menus and icons for easy use. The spatial database and the information system can be used to rockfall and landslide management and analysis near the railroad as basic data and tool.

In this paper, we propose a new texture-based page segmentation and classification method in which table region, background region, image region and text region in a given document image are automatically identified. The proposed method for document images consists of two stages, document segmentation and contents classification. In the first stage, we segment the document image, and then, we classify contents of document in the second stage. The proposed classification method is based on a texture analysis. Each contents in the document are considered as regions with different textures. Thus the problem of classification contents of document can be posed as a texture segmentation and analysis problem. Two-dimensional Gabor filters are used to extract texture features for each of these regions. Our method does not assume any a priori knowledge about content or language of the document. As we can see experiment results, our method gives good performance in document segmentation and contents classification. The proposed system is expected to apply such as multimedia data searching, real-time image processing.

The purpose of this study is to provide direction of medical education by analysing medical school student's perception structure about 'happy doctor'. In particular, this study compared perception structure between two groups of students before clerkship and after clerkship. The subject of this study were 1~4 academic year students in medical school. Students' text about 'happy doctor' were collected by open-ended questionnaire and analyzed by using sematic network analysis. Based on the result of network analysis, perception structure of each groups were confirmed. The network of each groups have 'Professionalism' group including words such as 'patient', 'treatment', 'worthwhile' in common. Three groups, 'Professionalism', 'Quality of life' and 'Self-realization' constituted the before clerkship network. And five groups, 'Professionalism', 'Time with family', 'Balance between work and household', 'Interpersonal relationship', 'Physical and psychological health' constituted the after clerkship network. The results of this study is expected to contribute for developing the basic medical education curriculum for 'happy doctor'.

The goal of this research is to evaluate the usability of visually browsing the automatically extracted information. A domain-independent information extraction system was used to extract information from news type texts to populate the visually browasable knowledge base. The information extraction system automatically generated Concept-Relation-Concept triples by applying various Natural Language Processing techniques to the text portion of the news articles. To visualize the information stored in the knowledge base, we used PersoanlBrain to develop a visualization portion of the user interface. PersonalBrain is a hyperbolic information visualization system, which enables the users to link information into a network of logical associations. To understand the usability of the visually browsable knowledge base, IS test subjects were observed while they use the visual interface and also interviewed afterward. By applying a qualitative test data analysis method. a number of usability Problems and further research directions were identified.

The early stage of Korean language education was to understand grammar. However, recent Korean language education aims to improve expressive ability for smooth communication. Hence, educational drama for education has gained attention as one of the effective ways of improving communication skills. Educational drama provides an actual conversational situation in which one can use appropriate words and grammar depending on the situation. Non-verbal expression such as body language and facial expression could be picked up so one also improves one's communicative abilities naturally. This means that educational drama shares Korean language education's goal of improving communicative ability. Moreover, the student becomes the core of the activity and finds solutions through cooperation with others, and this also helps improve social skills and self-esteem. This thesis covers methods of having interviews, re-writing texts to scripts, writing up post-script by imagining the following text, role-playing, and improving expressive ability by debating educational theatrical techniques. To make these activities successful, good quality VOD and learning materials shall be developed and used. Also, efficient training programs shall be created so that teachers make use of what they learn and improve their teaching skills.

In development environment focused on computers, the ideas of app developring tool have been presented in terms of improved software productivity. Historically, for smart applications, app developing tools have not yet effectively developed or initiated locally or internationally. Therefore, developer have difficulty in studying developing process due to the difficulties of text based language. The basic concept of a new innovative App development tool, App Developing Tool, which has been proposed in this study and enables to apply on-site requirements to smart phones, is to develop Apps on the level using easy-to-learn Word or Excel in a computer. App developing tool is developed process focus instead of program focus by introducing SOA(Service-oriented Architecture) to develop reasonably reusable service units. Since service-oriented architecture allows reusing by service unit when there are changes in a specific process or service, it is possible to provide a new function by replacing the service instead of developing a new program.
