SINGLE PHOTON EMISSION COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY FINDINGS IN ATTENTION DEFICIT- HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER (주의력결핍 ${\cdot}$ 과잉운동장애의 단일광자방출 전산화단층촬영 소견에 관한 연구)

  • The neural mechanisms involved in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder are largely unknown. In order to investigate the neuroanatomical lesions of attention deficit hyperactivity disorders and their relationships with psychopathology, Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography(SPECT) using HMPAO was performed in 46 ADHDS and Yale Children's Inventory(YCI), Conners Parent Questionaire and DSM-III-R Questionaire for Disruptive Behavior Disorder were used to assess the psychopathology of ADHDS The results are summarized as follows; 1) 30.4% (14/46) of this series revealed decreased perfusion In SPECT. 2) Regions of hypoperfusion were seen in cerebral cortex(17.4%, 8/46), thalamus(13.0%, 6/46), deep gray matter(8.7%, 4/46), basal ganglia(6.5%, 3/46) and cerebellum(2.2%, 1/ 46). 3) The mean scores of the total YCI revealed significant difference between the two groups(SPECT abnormal versus normal group), and among the subscales, hyperactivity, language and fine-motor subscales showed significant differences between the two groups. Although the relationship between the abnormal findings and specific symptom clusters of ADHDS remains unclear, we can suggest that these abnormal findings could be associated with ADHD, and based on these findings, the ADHDS can be subclassified into two groups. This study can be said to reinforce the current conception of heterogeneity of ADHD.

FOLLOWF-UP STUDY OF THE TIC DISORDERS (틱 장애 환자의 추적 조사)

  • 30 DSM-III or DSM-III-R tic patients were assessed by hospital records and Yale Global Tic Severity Scale to study the common characteristics, clinical course and longterm outcome of tic disorders after 3.1-18.1 years, 73.3% of the patients(treated or untreated) have recovered or partially improved. Identifical precipitating factors were found in 9 patients. Associated disorders were ADHD, sleep disorder, and so on. The outcome according to age of onset, duration of follow-up and diagnoses have no statistically significance. Increased age at follow up was influenced improvement of tic symptoms, though statistically not significant(p=0.327). These results suggest that the outcome of tic disorder is not ominous and they are relatively good social adjustment inspite of carrying the tic symptoms. But this study has some limitations such as retrospective study and sample size. Studies designed prospectively with large sample would be needed to generalize theses results.

Brutal history of 'The Others' : Yeon Sang-Ho's Animation ('타자'들의 잔혹사 : 연상호 애니메이션)

  • Yeon Sang-Ho's Animation occupies an exceptional place in Korean Animation, being categorized as the kind of realism representing the pitiable actuality rather than the liberal and creative imagination. His animation appreciated as 'stories much more real than the reality' mainly depicts the world of 'the others' who resides on the periphery of the society in a rough and straightforward way. Yeon Sang-Ho's Animation represents the emotions and desire of characters as well as the heartless real world refusing the fantasy, through which it reflects the portraits of people living in post-capitalistic era seen from the microscopic view. This article investigates the textual characteristics, defining his animation as the Brutal history of 'The Others'. Two conditions which constitute the actual world in his works are the absurd social system and the characters who are afflicted with the trauma, belonging to the lower classes. Therefore, the landscape of real life which contains vicious victim, corrupted monster and being as 'homo sacer' looks like a painting of hell. Yeon Sang-Ho's Animation summons the shadow of ourselves which has been negated or neglected through the figure of 'the others' produced in post-capitalistic era and exposes our bare face and the uncomfortable truth by displaying the affected area of out society plainly. Furthermore, his works demonstrate the possibility of Korean animation as a representational language of facing the reality and searching for the truth.

Teacher Training Program and Analysis of Teacher's Demands to Strengthen Artificial Intelligence Education (인공지능교육 역량 강화를 위한 교원 연수 프로그램과 교사 요구분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to apply the training program for teachers to strengthen the competence of artificial intelligence education in primary and secondary school teachers and to analyze its effectiveness and analyze teachers' demands for artificial intelligence education to provide basic research data. The referenced training program was designed based on the ADDIE model by selecting the educational contents based on the five core elements of AI, and teachers from the G Metropolitan Office of Education and the AI Education Research Association collaborated to develop the program. The effectiveness of the developed program and questionnaire of teacher needs analysis for AI teaching were examined for content validity. As a result of the training conducted by applying the developed program, satisfaction with each curriculum of the training and the possibility of application to the field were highly evaluated. It was found that teachers consider the need of teaching unplugged activities for AI education and basic AI experiences in elementary school level, and AI education contents including block programming languages and physical computing activities are needed to teach in middle school level.

An Analysis of the Mental Models of Middle School Students with Different Learning Style on Plate Tectonics (학습 양식이 다른 중학생들의 판구조론에 관한 정신모형 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify middle school students' mental models on plate tectonics and to compare the mental models of verbal-learning-style students with those of visual-learning-style students. 94 student participants in 9th grade were requested to draw and explain three topics; generation of magma, the formation of the mountain range and the interior of the Earth. The criterions for analyzing the mental models are derived from the data of the drawing task. The research results were as follows: The mental models on the generation of magma were classified as 'unstable model,' 'partial casual model,' 'causal model,' and 'conceptual model.' On the other hand, the mental models on the interior of the Earth were classified as 'static unstable model,' 'dynamic unstable model,' and 'conceptual model.' Students holding 'unstable model' were unable to relate the plate collision and the magma generation. They showed a variety of alternative conceptions of study areas, such as 'magma is generated from the core' and 'the mountain is formed by rising of the plates themselves.' Also, visual-learning-style students showed higher proportion of conceptual models and lower proportion of unstable mental models than verbal-learning-style students on three topics. The findings revealed that the students tend to have different concepts on the plate tectonics depending on their learning style.

Development of a Face Detection and Recognition System Using a RaspberryPi (라즈베리파이를 이용한 얼굴검출 및 인식 시스템 개발)

  • IoT is a new emerging technology to lead the $4^{th}$ industry renovation and has been widely used in industry and home to increase the quality of human being. In this paper, IoT based face detection and recognition system for a smart elevator is developed. Haar cascade classifier is used in a face detection system and a proposed PCA algorithm written in Python in the face recognition system is implemented to reduce the execution time and calculates the eigenfaces. SVM or Euclidean metric is used to recognize the faces detected in the face detection system. The proposed system runs on RaspberryPi 3. 200 sample images in ORL face database are used for training and 200 samples for testing. The simulation results show that the recognition rate is over 93% for PP+EU and over 96% for PP+SVM. The execution times of the proposed PCA and the conventional PCA are 0.11sec and 1.1sec respectively, so the proposed PCA is much faster than the conventional one. The proposed system can be suitable for an elevator monitoring system, real time home security system, etc.

Development of Indentation Training System for Pulse Diagnosis (맥진 가압 트레이닝 시스템 개발)

  • Although the pulse diagnosis is the one of the most important diagnostic process to traditional medical doctors, there is no proper communication tool between experts and trainees. In this paper, we have developed a indentation training system which consists of a hardware measuring indent pressure on artificial arm quantitatively and a software providing a indentation training program. The hardware for measurement of indent pressure profile includes 3 load cells embedded in the artificial arm, signal amplification part and digitization part, NI-USB 6009 with 200Hz sampling rate. For setting up a relationship table between weights and output voltages, 8 standard weights were used. To evaluate this hardware, 3 oriental medical specialists were involved and their indent pressure profile were recorded three times respectively. From these, it was found that pulse diagnosis process could be divided into 3 periods and the maximum load were $500g{\cdot}f$ approximately while doctors perform a pulse diagnosis. The indentation training program was implemented with LabView and designed to monitor the differences between the pressure profile of a expert and that of a trainee so to offer some visual feedback to the trainee. Also, this program could provide the trends of training performances. With this developed system, the education of pulse diagnosis is expected to be more quantitative and effective.

Product Form Alignment Method Based on the Analysis of Formative Parameter Disposition (조형변수 성향 분석에 의한 정합적 제품 형태 전개 방법)

  • Corporate design activities have expanded from being exclusive and passive responsibilities to active participation in planning, marketing, technology and corporate brand image differentiation for successful business. Thus the communications between designers and other functions come to include critical decision making, information sharing, and objective reasoning. Given that design activities now have to involve various functions in product development, the styling-related design process, which is still developed by designer's intuition and experience, poses as an obstacle not just between various functions involved, but even within the design function. To overcome this obstacle and to lead more effective design decision process, a means for product form development assessment and management is necessary. This research proposes a foundation for managing and assessing product form based on the hypothesis and demonstration of discovering a system of formative factor and order a product form expresses that can be shared as an objective and logical system. As a result of this demonstration, the form as a unique visual expression and the factors related to the form and its co-relationship are examined. The factors are called formative parameters and the system is named as the product form alignment method. Based on the logic derived from the system, the process for developing an image that aligns with the predefined goal is explained. The method defines a balance between a designer's intuitive creativity and the extracted logic, which can act as a basis for designers to share design language among themselves and for communication between design and other functions. Based on this system, designers are able to align design work with the set goal, and focus and limit the range of form development, which is anticipated to result in lead-time reduction and minimizing unnecessary obstacles and mistakes.

Usefulness of $^{99m}Tc$-HMPAO SPECT in Patients with Subarachnoid Hemorrhage due to Ruptured Intracranial Aneurysm (뇌동맥류파열에 의한 지주막하출혈 환자에서 $^{99m}Tc$-HMPAO SPECT 검사의 유용성)

  • We evaluated the usefulness of $^{99m}Tc$-HMPAO SPECT in 21 Patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage due to ruptured intracranial aneurysm and in 3 patients with unruptured intracranial aneurysm. SPECT study could detect the bilaterally hypoperfused cases in 10 patients (48%), but CT/MRI showed the bilateral abnormalities in only 3 patients (14%). The number of abnormal lesions were 56 in SPECT and 25 in CT/MRI. The lesions found in SPECT were well correlated with the neurological signs of the patients such as aphasia or hemiplegia. SPECT study during Matas test was helpful in evaluating the risk for carotid artery occlusion therapy. We thought that $^{99m}Tc$-HMPAO brain SPECT is helpful in evaluating the functional changes in patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Development of a gridded crop growth simulation system for the DSSAT model using script languages (스크립트 언어를 사용한 DSSAT 모델 기반 격자형 작물 생육 모의 시스템 개발)

  • The gridded simulation of crop growth, which would be useful for shareholders and policy makers, often requires specialized computation tasks for preparation of weather input data and operation of a given crop model. Here we developed an automated system to allow for crop growth simulation over a region using the DSSAT (Decision Support System for Agrotechnology Transfer) model. The system consists of modules implemented using R and shell script languages. One of the modules has a functionality to create weather input files in a plain text format for each cell. Another module written in R script was developed for GIS data processing and parallel computing. The other module that launches the crop model automatically was implemented using the shell script language. As a case study, the automated system was used to determine the maximum soybean yield for a given set of management options in Illinois state in the US. The AgMERRA dataset, which is reanalysis data for agricultural models, was used to prepare weather input files during 1981 - 2005. It took 7.38 hours to create 1,859 weather input files for one year of soybean growth simulation in Illinois using a single CPU core. In contrast, the processing time decreased considerably, e.g., 35 minutes, when 16 CPU cores were used. The automated system created a map of the maturity group and the planting date that resulted in the maximum yield in a raster data format. Our results indicated that the automated system for the DSSAT model would help spatial assessments of crop yield at a regional scale.
