Collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and t-test. Major findings revealed that preschooler's social skills, maternal management strategies of peer relations and parenting behaviors showed a predictable correlation to preschooler's internet-game addictive inclination.

  • This study was conducted to identify the effects of baby care using dolls on nursing students' major satisfaction, class satisfaction, and knowledge of newborn care. A quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group, pretest-posttest design was used. The subjects of the study were 95 nursing college students who agreed to participate. The control group (n=47) received lecture education consisting of watching newborn videos while the experimental group (n=48) received a practical education involving caring for a doll resembling an infant. Data were collected from March to May, 2019 and analyzed using descriptive statistics, χ2-tests, and t-tests with the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. The major satisfaction score of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group, but it was not statistically significant (t=1.64, p=.107). The score for class satisfaction differed significantly between the experimental group and control group (t=2.08, p=.043). The knowledge of newborn care score for the experimental group was higher than that for the control group, and there was a statistically significant difference (t=-5.82, p<.001). Overall, the results show that baby care using a doll has positive effects on class satisfaction and knowledge of newborn care. • The aims of this study were to identify the significant predictors of the sexual behavior of middle school students. The subjects consisted of 603 middle school students (male 344, female 259). The data was collected through self-report questionnaires, which were constructed to include the attitudes to sexual behavior, sexual permissiveness, perceived behavioral control, sexual behavioral intention, father's child-rearing attitudes, mother's child-rearing attitudes, friends' attitudes to sex, exposure to pornography, and sexual behavior. The data was analyzed using the SPSS 19.0 program. The significant predictors of sexual behavior of middle school students that explained 51.0% of the variance in sexual behavior were the friends' attitudes to sex, alcohol drinking experience, experience of sexual abuse, sexual permissiveness, exposure to pornography, sexual behavioral intention, perceived behavioral control, father's child-rearing attitudes, and mother's child-rearing attitudes. These findings suggest that the approach to a sexual education promotion program for middle school students should consider multisystemic predictors.

As for findings stated above, for pre-parents in their 20s~30s, women' perception of parental role and view of children was more positive than men'. And nuclear families' or large families' perception was more positive than single parent families'. These findings confirm there is a difference between parental role and view of children according to growth environments of pre-parents in social realities that the low birth rate is growing.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify latent classes in changes of mothers' daily life stress over six years from multicultural families and to test its relationship with early adolescents' perceived neglecting parental attitudes and their academic achievements. For achieving this purpose, as the study sample 1,039 students were gathered from the 4th grade of elementary school to 3rd grade of middle school, using Growth Mixture Modeling, Multiple Group Analysis, and One-way ANOVA. The results were as follows. First, latent classes of mothers' daily life stress were categorized into three types: high-stable trajectory, moderate-changing trajectory, and low-changing trajectory. Second, these three types showed different characteristics in early adolescents' perceived neglecting parental attitudes and academic achievements. Third, early adolescents' perceived neglecting parental attitude were not significant determinants of the latent classes while academic achievements were. The findings of this study may provide a framework for understanding the relationships among mothers' daily life stress and early adolescents' perceived neglecting parental attitudes and their academic achievements in multicultural families and practical implications for providing social support to overcome daily life stress of mothers in multicultural families.

  • This study analyzed the longitudinal trajectories of father's depression and the changes of relevant parenting practice in fathers' as well as the problematic behaviors and school adaptation of their children. To address these goals, the data from 1,172 samples from the 4th to 8th Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) was analyzed. The results of this study indicated that the fathers' depressive levels are classified into three latent groups: 1) the high-changing group, 2) the middle-low changing group, and 3) the low-low changing group. The results also revealed that the fathers within the low-low changing group practiced more authoritative but permissive parenting than the fathers in the two other groups. Children from high-changing group showed more problematic behaviors than the children of the two other groups. In addition, the children from the low-low changing group reported higher school adjustment such as academic achievements, and relationships with peers and teachers. Based on these findings, the study discusses the implications for social work practice and further studies.
