Structural stability analysis of nonlocal Megneto-Electro-Elastic(MEE) nano plates on elastic foundation (탄성지반위에 놓인 비국소 자기-전기-탄성 나노 판의 구조안정해석)

  • This study examined the structural stability of nonlocal magneto-electro-elastic nano plates on elastic foundations using first-order shear deformation theory. Navier's method has been used to solve the buckling loads for all edges simply supported boundary conditions. On the other hand, biaxial buckling analysis of nano-plates has beenrarely studied. According to the Maxwell equation and the magneto-electro boundary condition, the change inthe magnetic and electric potential along the thickness direction of the magneto-electro-elastic nano plate wasdetermined. To reformulate the elasticity theory of the magneto- electro-elastic nano plate, the differential constitutive equation of Eringen was used and the governing equation of the nonlocal elasticity theory was studied using variational theory. The effects of the elastic foundation arebased on Pasternak's assumption. The relationship between nonlocal theory and local theory was analyzed through calculation results. In addition, structural stability problems were investigated according to the electric and magnetic potentials, nonlocal parameters, elastic foundation parameters, and side-to-thickness ratio. The results of the analysis revealedthe effects of the magnetic and electric potential. These calculations can be used to compare future research on new material structures made of magneto-electro-elastic materials.

An Experimental Study to Evaluate Hydraulic Characteristics and Stability of Scour Protection for Historic Site Restoration of Woljeong-gyo (월정교 사적지 복원을 위한 수리특성 및 세굴보호공 안정성 검토에 관한 수리모형실험 연구)

  • The old bridge of Woljeong-gyo, which has the fluvial history and culture, represents the ancient construction and civil engineering techniques. It is the oldest stone bridge in Korea and currently restored with its vicinities. In this study, the experimental model was used to analyze the hydraulic characteristics, the local pier-scour depth without scour protection, and the stability of riprap protection using the old grid type panels and stones for Woljeong-gyo of the study area. The water levels were increased around 30cm due to the restored bridge piers and foundations and the effects went up to 200m upstream. The maximum scour depth of 5.4m was measured and the scour protection tests were performed with the riprap size calculated using empirical equations and the existing scour protection range. The riprap of the existing scour protection in the upstream side was broken away, while the riprap of extended scour protection was very stable for the design flood condition of Woljeong-gyo area.

Reliability Based Stability Analysis and Design Criteria for Reinforced Concrete Retaining Wall (신뢰성(信賴性) 이론(理論)에 의한 R.C.옹벽(擁壁)의 안정해석(安定解析) 및 설계규준(設計規準))

  • Current R.C. retaining wall design is bared on WSD, but the reliability based design method is more rational than the WSD. For this reason, this study proposes a reliability based design criteria for the cantilever retaining wall, which is most common type of retaining wall, and also proposes the theoretical bases of nominal safety factors of stability analysis by introducing the reliability theory. The limit state equations of stability analysis and design of each part of cantilever retaining wall are derived and the uncertainty measuring algorithms of each equation are also derived by MFOSM using Coulomb's coefficient of the active earth pressure and Hansen's bearing capacity formula. The levels of uncertainties corresponding to these algorithms are proposed appropriate values considering our actuality. The target reliability indices (overturning: ${\beta}_0$=4.0, sliding: ${\beta}_0$=3.5, bearing capacity: [${\beta}_0$=3.0, design for flexure: [${\beta}_0$=3.0, design for shear: ${\beta}_0$=3.2) are selected as optimal values considering our practice based on the calibration with the current R.C. retaining wall design safety provisions. Load and resistance factors are measured by using the proposed uncertainties and the selected target reliability indices. Furthermore, a set of nominal safety factors, allowable stresses, and allowable shear stresses are proposed for the current WSD design provisions. It may be asserted that the proposed LRFD reliability based design criteria for the R.C. retaining wall may have to be incorporated into the current R.C. design codes as a design provision corresponding to the USD provisions of the current R.C. design code.

  • In CCPM Technique, as the buffer size calculation method, the Cut and Paste(C&P) method and the Root Square Error (RSE) method for all tasks carried out the same treatment, without considering the actual situation and characteristics of the task, the lack of reasonable judgment, is too simple and hasty. In this paper, taking into account the limitations of existing methods, a new method of buffer sizing method based on statistical analysis was introduced. It makes statistical analysis for the relationship between each worker and a variety of tasks, and use the information to predict the next task time. In order to verify the effectiveness of the new method, according to different task difficulty and the number of tasks set up the project. Use C&P, RSE method and new methods to predict the time of the project. Through Monte Carlo Simulation to simulate the project time, a comparison of three methods of performance. The results show that the new method can achieve the managers expect the probability of completion, and for those tasks can be completed ahead of schedule, the new method can save project time.

A Study on Effective Width of Press-Braked Steel Plates with a Free Edge (둥근 모서리를 갖는 절곡 자유돌출판의 유효폭 분석)

  • This study numerically investigates buckling behavior of press braked steel plates with a free edge that consists of the upper flange of U-shaped box girder. Since the press-braked plates include a rounded edge, the effective width to thickness ratio of the press-braked upper flange is obscure to determine the nominal compressive strength. This study performed 3D finite element analyses to evaluate an equivalent effective width of cold-formed plate with a free edge. Through the parametric numerical analyses, the elastic buckling stresses of the rounded corner plates were compared with those of general flat plates and then, the equivalent effective width has been estimated. A comparative study with Euler buckling formula speculated in the domestic design specifications has been conducted.

  • The supervision system due to the Building Law was introduced in 1963. As the building came to be more various from the side of use, efficiency and the size, it came to be complicated. Construction Technical Managemen Law started in 1994. and it introduced a responsibility supervision system. And Residential Building Promotion Law improved quality of Buildings. But these facts are limited in part in the supervision objective building, and supervision system is restricted. This research investigates the current problem of supervision system, and the improvement program will go far toward solving the problem.

Optimum Scale Evaluation of Sedment Basin Design by Soil Erosion Estimation at Small Basin (소유역의 토사유실량에 따른 유사저류지 설계적정성 검토)

  • The recent frequent heavy rainfall has caused an increased in soil erosion and the soil drain which drained soil has caused decreased in channel radius and environmental problems by turbidity. In this study, the optimum size of the sediment basin was tested with soil erosion estimated from the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) in the basin using by GIS data. The results show that the estimated soil erosion and the designed soil deposit are $72.1\;m^3$ and $85.0\;m^3$ respectively and the size of sediment basin is proper. In this study the water depth was calculated from the Hec-Ras model to test the stability of the bank and to prove submersion of the inside fields from stream overflow.

A Study on the Variation of Electric Contact Resistance Due to Change in Contact Force in a Tin-plated Connector (주석 도금한 커넥터의 접촉 하중의 변화에 의한 전기 접촉저항 변화에 관한 연구)

  • In order to investigate the effect of contact load, which is one of the fretting corrosion factors affecting the electric connector, a coupled fretting corrosion specimens were prepared using a tin-plated brass coupon with a thickness of $3{\mu}m$. Electric resistance of the contact was measured during the fretting corrosion test period. There was increase in resistance with fretting cycles. The change in resistance can be classified by 3 stages. The first stage exhibited low and stable resistance. Second stage showed steady increment of the resistance and third stage showed very high and intermittent resistance. The relationship between the failure cycle (Nf) and contact force (P) can be drawn as; It is possible to draw the prediction equation for the failure cycle of the electric connector corresponding to the very high and intermittent resistance under various environment conditions through the fretting tests under various conditions such as load, displacement, temperature.

  • 기존 보를 활용하여 유량측정에 이용하는 방법은 보의 통제 특성을 이용한 것이다. 유량과 수위를 병행 측정하여 얻은 자료를 활용해 수위-유량관계를 개발하는 것이다. 이 방법은 간단하면서도 정확도가 높은 방법이다. 수위-유량관계가 개발되면 별도의 측정을 수행할 필요 없이 수위계 측정값으로 유량이 계산되기 때문이다. 물론 주기적인 수위-유량관계 검증은 반드시 필요하다. 이런 수위-유량관계를 이용한 기존 보 활용은 매우 유용한 방법 중 하나이다. 하지만 이런 기존 보를 활용해 유량을 계산하는 방법은 몇 가지 단점을 포함한다. 첫째, 통제 특성을 이용하는 모든 측정 구조물은 측정한계 조건이 있다. 즉, 보 마루에 한계류가 발생하지 않는 수위 이상으로 높아지면 보의 통제 특성이 소멸되고 수위-유량관계나 유량공식은 의미가 없어진다. 둘째, 유량측정 구조물의 가장 큰 문제점 중 하나가 토사퇴적이다. 특히 기존 보의 경우 토사가 퇴적되면 보 상류의 저류용량이 줄어 보의 통제 기능을 상실하게 된다. 이런 문제점들을 해결하기 위해 보마루를 높인다거나 정기적인 준설을 하는 방법이 있다. 장기적인 변화에 대응하는 것이지만 이런 조치는 임시방편일 뿐이다. 이런 문제를 해결하기 위해 연구하게 된 방법이 보마루에서 직접 유속측정을 하는 것이다. 그리하면 통제특성을 이용한 수위-유량관계가 필요 없게 된다. 이때 보마루에서 직접 유속측정을 하기 위해서 유속측정 센서를 이용한다. 유속측정센서는 도플러방식을 이용한 초음파 유속센서로써 uplooking 방식으로 보마루에 고정시켜 이용한다. 이런 센서는 관수로에서 유량을 측정하기 위해 많이 사용되고 있다. 본 연구를 위해 초음파 센서를 이용해 실험 수로에서 유속측정과 유량환산 결과를 비교해 보았고 실제 시험하천에서도 설치하여 적용해 보았다. 보마루라는 안정된 단면을 이용하여 유속을 직접 측정하는 방법은 앞서 언급했던 수위-유량관계를 이용한 기존 보 활용법상 단점도 극복할 수 있다. 즉 통제 특성과는 관계없이 측정할 수 있는 수심 범위에만 들어가게 되면 항상 측정이 가능하고 상류의 토사퇴적에도 영향을 전혀 받지 않는다. 설치한 후 센서가 파손되지 않고 관리만 잘 된다면 유량측정시 편리하고 정확하게 결과를 얻을 것으로 판단된다.

Preliminary Study of the Tsunami Effect from the Great East Japan Earthquake using the World First Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) (천리안 해색위성 GOCI를 이용한 일본 동부 지진해일 영향 연구)

  • The enormous disaster (Friday nightmare) occurred at 14:46 (JST) (05:46 UTC) on 11 March 2011, officially named "the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami". To monitor the variations of the marine environment after the earthquake, we used chlorophyll and Rrs(555) of GOCI and MODIS ocean color satellite data during March ~ May 2011. Before the earthquake, chlorophyll and Rrs(555) were relatively low around the Sendai areas. After the earthquake;their concentration and intensity were suddenly increased along the coast and the water column was disturbed by the tsunami wave. The severe distortions influenced by the tsunami occurred at less than 30 m water depth and the variations in offshore were difficult to discern the effect of the tsunami. The disturbance by the tsunami was still remained in the terrestrial environment after one month. However the ocean environment returned to the former condition in almost two month later.
