A total of thirty elderly patients with mild cognitive impairment were randomly divided into a test group and a control group of 15 patients each, undergoing a total twelve sessions of the program (two sessions per week for six weeks) in three steps. In order to investigate the mental stability of the patients before and after the program, the Korean Geriatric Depression Scale (KGDS) was used while the Frenchay Activity Index (FAI) was used to explore the social participation of the patients. According to the findings of this study, there appeared to be an increase in the mental stability, social participation of the test group after the program. In addition, after the program there were differences between the test group and the control group in all of the mental stability and social participation. Therefore, the study has shown that the CTOTAP with customization has positive impact on the mental stability and social participation of patients with mild cognitive impairment.

  • This study has been conducted to investigate the effect of self awareness of halitosis on the quality of life related to oral health in patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis and use basic data related to oral health of patients with chronic renal failure which is very rare in Korea. In terms of oral symptoms based on awareness of halitosis, there were significant differences in symptoms of teeth pain in the past one month, bleeding gums, symptoms of tongue or cheek pain, dry mouth, In terms of status of oral functions, there were significant differences in discomfort upon chewing foods, difficulty of pronunciation and presence of lost teeth. As the results of analysis of effect of self awareness of halitosis on the quality of life related to oral health in patients with chronic renal failure, it was shown that there were significant effects in psychological discomfort(B=-2.028, p<.01), poor social skills(B=2.596, p<.01) and social disadvantage(B=-2.173, p<.01). Thus, because self awareness of halitosis gives psychologically and socially negative effects, it could be an important factor to patients with renal failure whose number is rapidly increasing.

  • This study aims to examine significant changes in participants experiences by analyzing cases of PST applied with TCI, and to suggest that TCI and PST can be used to promote their psychology. To this end, an in-depth interview was conducted for a total of eight PST sessions for three months for one B-boying player competing in the national team selection and the world competition, and the time required for one session was about 60 minutes. The pre-post measurement results were analyzed by applying the case study A-B method. As a result of conducting PST, focusing on grasping the characteristics and psychological strengths and weaknesses of the player using the TCI results, it was found to improve the player's psychological skills and happiness, proving the effectiveness of PST. This is the first report that PST can be applied to the breaking field, and it is meaningful that TCI was applied to psychological technology.

The survey investigated athletes' perceptions and management of psychological training, the perceived necessity of seeking advice for everyday concerns, willingness to use and perceived need for sports psychology counseling, prior experiences, and pre-engagement considerations. According to the survey results, 69.1% of athletes recognized the importance of mental training, but only 33.2% actually underwent psychological training. Furthermore, while 67.8% expressed a desire to receive education on psychological training from professionals, only 19.9% reported having searched for related information. When asked about their willingness to pay for sports psychology counseling services, 55.7% expressed willingness. Reasons for wanting to receive counseling, reasons for not wanting to receive counseling, and preferences or considerations for counseling sessions were listed as well. In the in-depth interviews, participants were classified into those who had received counseling and those who had not, delving deeply into motivations for seeking counseling or reasons for not doing so, perceptions during counseling sessions, considerations, preferred types of counselors, and program preferences. Based on this research, discussions and recommendations were provided with the perspective of utilizing sports psychology counseling as foundational data for providing high-quality services to users.

  • The objective of this study was to determine the effect of a psycho-educational group intervention in reducing psychologic distress and enhancing coping in Korean breast cancer patients. The patient selection criteria were age younger than 70 years, having any postoperative adjuvant therapy, and surgery undergone within the previous 12 months as of the start of the study and there were 70 patients eligible for this criteria. They were randomized into three groups; experimental group(24 patients), wait-list control group(24 patients) and wait-list group(36 patients). We conducted a 8-week, structured, psychosocial group intervention, which used psycho-educational strategies combining education and psychological support. Subjects were assessed for psychological distress and coping by administering the Beck Depression Inventory(BDI) and the Ways of Coping Checklist-Revised(WCCL-R) at the baseline and after 8 weeks. Forty eight patients were participated and thirty five patients completed the study. The experimental group had significantly lower scores than the controls for depression on the BDI(p=.012) after 8-week intervention. However, coping did not show a significant difference on WCCL-R after the intervention. Despite of some limitations, the results of this study suggest that a short term psychosocial group intervention produces a significant improvement in the quality of life of patients with primary breast carcinoma in Korea in terms of managing depression.
