The Artistic Practical Use of Social Network Visualization through the Information Aesthetic Interpretation (정보미학적 해석을 통한 소셜네트워크 시각화의 예술적 활용)

  • This paper analyzes the artistic practical use of social network visualization through the aesthetic information interpretation. The first social network visualization has emerged as 'Sociogram' in the form of social network analysis(SNA). Since social network has complex, the analyzing technology of social network has emerged. Early social network visualization has a practical purpose to measure the social structure, but current social network visualization divided into various forms from artistic expressions through information. This paper divide into two categories based on the artistic application of social network visualization. First, this research focuses on the static graph based on analog. Second, this research analyze the category of interacted visualization to generate a real-time digital image. This paper presents the fusion of paradigm between engineering and art through this way.

A study on behavior for prefabricated precast segment and similar piers (조립식 프리캐스트 세그먼트 교각과 유사형식 교각에 대한 거동에 관한 연구)

  • The present, most of bridges have been constructed with RC piers in Korea. But the construction of bridges with RC piers is limited to certain working environment and weather that give rise to some series trouble such as weak constructability, quality deterioration and rising of the cost of construction. For this reason, the construction tend to focus on the developing of more effective and economical construction methods. Of all methods, prefabricated precast segment piers have been examined more extensively, it has become a solution of some problems like traffic congestion that usual site placing methods have. The Korea government has the already issued specification earthquake effect. But the existing seismic specification are inapplicable to bridges with prefabricated precast segment piers. This study analyzes structural behabviors of the RC model, prestressted pier moel, the prefabricated precast segment pier with no shearduct model and the prefabricated segment piers with shearduct and changed post tensioning force.

Design of The Geographic Information Database Structure for Census Mapping (센서스 지도제작을 위한 지리정보데이타베이스 구조연구)

  • In order to minimize vectorizing tasks, which require huge reso¬urces and time and to support the census mapping effectively, the geographic information databases structure has been studied. The steps of the new approach are as follows. : Step 1, Scanning the maps of the whole country and storing the image data in raster format. Step 2, Vectorizing the data of specific items for Census operation such as Enume¬ration District, and then linking to attribute data in the text format. Step 3, Designing the database with a Tile and Multi-layer structure to make a continuous map logically. Step 4, Implement Censlls Mapping System(CMS) for efficient mapping and retrieving. As a consequence of this study, the cost, manpower and time effectiveness was proved and it was confirmed to produce lIseful and high-qual ified maps for the Census. In the future, this system wi II be able to provide many organizations and individuals with the various data based on geographical statistical information.

A Scheme for Reuse of Residual Energy in a Multi-cell Battery System (다중전지 시스템에서 잔류 에너지의 재활용 방법)

  • As portable electronic systems being used more often, it becomes a more important issue to lengthen the lifetime of the power battery of the system, for instance, by developing batteries of a higher efficiency. A simple as well as practical method to lengthen the lifetime is to use multiple batteries that are connected in parallel. But in this paper we present a new idea in using multiple batteries, with which the residual energy of the battery can be used in the sense of recycling. The idea is based on a usual phenomenon that a battery cell that has been used until its voltage has dropped below a reference level may still have some residual energy, due to which the voltage can recover when the cell takes a rest for a while. As a practical realization scheme of this idea, a multi-cell configuration method with a cell selection switch is introduced, and its feasibility has been examined by performing experimental observations on the behavior of battery discharge. It has been found that the lifetime of an Alkaline primary battery cell can be lengthened approximately by one or two hours with the proposed method.

Agent-based Service Composition in Multi-party Collaboration Environments (다자간 협업 환경에서 에이전트 기반 서비스 합성)

  • To support advanced collaboration among knowledge workers distributed geographically, there have been extensive researches under the scope of ubiquitous computing environments. Especially, to cope with several known problems in traditional room-based collaboration environments such as uncomfortable sharing of visuals and documents and difficult operation of collaboration tools, several conceptual frameworks are designed and prototyped. Focusing on practical and interactive collaboration with remote nodes, in this paper, we conceptually design an agent-based service composition model for multi-party collaboration environments. The proposed model is designed to automatically discover and combine services to achieve given tasks in a collaboration environment by using high-level user commands (without the knowledge of internal architecture). Based on the service composition model, we develop a multi-agent-based management toolkit for multi-party collaboration environments. It provides easy-to-use GUI to operate various services in an environment and perform service composition algorithm to discover appropriate services and combine them. To explore the possibility of the toolkit we implement collaboration services to support video conference by using the toolkit.

  • The short group signature introduced by Boneh et al. is one of famous anonymous signature schemes. However, for applying it to the real applications, several restrictions should be considered. The perfect anonymity of users, which is given by group signatures, prevents service providers to provide certain services or resources. For this reason, the local linkability which reduces the anonymity of users has to be provided to the service providers. In addition, the group signature keys, which are one-sidedly assigned from a group manager, cannot support the strong exculpability of users. Hence, the short group signature has to be modified for supporting the strong exculpability. In this paper, we perform a study on the use of the short group signature by proposing a few methods for supporting those two properties.

  • 지상파 DMB 상용 서비스가 시작된 지 1년이 경과함에 따라 DMB 시청자의 수가 급격히 증가하였다. 그러나 DMB와 융합된 새로운 서비스가 활성화가 활발하지 못하고, 따라서 여러 가지 부가 수익서비스가 창출되지 못하고 있다. 그 이유 중의 하나는 기존에 제안된 양방향 데이터 서비스들은 모바일 홈페이지로의 연결하는 방식이라, 시청자가 DMB 단말기의 작은 화면에서 단말기의 버튼이나 터치스크린을 사용하기 불편하고, 방송시청이 불편하다. 또한, 기존의 방송참여 방식인 ARS, SMS 방식을 포용하지 못한다. 본 논문은 기존의 시청자 참여 방식을 분석하고 기존 방식의 약점을 보안하여 URL 방식 명령을 통한 양방향 서비스를 제안한다. 이 방법은 작은 디스플레이를 통해 홈페이지 방식을 고집하지 않고, 기존의 ARS, SMS를 포용하며, 단순한 동작으로 시청자 참여가 가능하다. 본 논문이 제안하는 방법은 서비스 방식 및 구조에 따라 ARS 서비스를 제공하는 URL방식 명령, SMS 서비스를 제공하는 URL 명령, 서버응용 호출서비스를 위한 URL방식 명령(SERVER-URL), 클라이언트 응용호출 서비스를 위한 URL방식 명령(CLIENT-URL)으로 분류된다. 본 방법들은 사용자의 참여가 단순하게 이루어지도록 방송시 송출되며, 이러한 방법은 ol동 방송에 특히 적합할 것으로 사료되어, 앞으로 보다 실용적인 DMB 기반의 융합 서비스에 사용될 것으로 사료된다.

Stray Electric Field Energy Harvesting for Power Supply of Ubiquitous Sensor Network (유비쿼터스 무선 센서 네트워크의 전력공급을 위한 표유전계에너지 하베스팅 기술 연구)

  • 본 논문에서는 신개념의 에너지 하베스팅 기술로서 전력선의 표유전계에너지 하베스팅을 제안하였고, 저전력 무선 센서노드에 전력공급이 가능함을 실험적으로 확인하였다. 전류가 흐르지 않는 무부하 상태의 220 V 전력선에 20 cm 길이의 알루미늄 포일을 감아서 하베스팅 할 때, 하베스터 회로의 접지가 220 V 전력선의 접지선에 연결되어 있는 경우, 수집 가능한 평균전류는 900 nA, 연구실 콘크리트 바닥에 접지되어 있을 경우, 700 nA의 평균전류를 얻을 수 있음을 확인하였다. 콘크리트 바닥에 접지되어 있는 하베스터 회로의 경우 220 V 전력선으로부터 접지선을 따로 빼 낼 필요가 없기 때문에 충분히 실용적이며 알루미늄 포일의 길이를 60 cm로 느리면 약 2분 만에 저전력 무선 센서노드 구동을 위해 필요한 에너지인 약 2 mJ 만큼 하베스팅이 가능하다. 본 기술을 적용하면 유비쿼터스 센서 네트워크의 전력을 공급할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

  • In order to construct a system for big data processing, one needs to configure the node by using network equipments to connect multiple computers or establish cloud environments through virtual hosts on a single computer. However, there are many restrictions on constructing the big data analysis system including complex system configuration and cost. These constraints are becoming a major obstacle to professional manpower training for big data areas which is emerging as one of the most important national competitiveness. As a result, for professional manpower training of big data areas, this paper proposes a Raspberry Pi Board based educational big data processing system which is capable of practical training at an affordable price.

  • Home service networked systems require a high-availability service with a proactive and practical fault management. However, as the system complexity grows, it is not easy to meet the requirement. Moreover, user may want to pay no attention to a sequence of complex or nervous maintenance jobs for system fault managements. Therefore, the home service networked systems must have self & remote fault management capability with a minimal human intervention for meeting high-availability requirement of the integrated systems that consist of the networked appliances or devices. In this paper, we present an autonomic healing utility equipped with a remote self-managing mechanism in order to both increase the availability of home service networked systems and decrease the maintenance cost.
