Pierre Robin syndrome (PRS) is characterized by the triad of congenital mandibular hypoplasia, glossoptosis and cleft palate. Infant PRS patients are frequently suffering from upper airway obstruction, gastroesophageal reflux and growth retardation caused by above mentioned problems. We report a dental caries treatment of 3-year old girl with Pierre Robin syndrome with multiple caries. The cause of multiple caries was mainly presumed as patient's eating habit caused by her general condition. She had some feeding problems and had history of gastric tube. She was still using milk bottle and took more than an hour to finish a meal. The treatment was performed under general anesthesia considering patient's condition; mild autism, poor cooperation and respiratory problem due to micrognathia. Severely affected upper incisors were treated with pulp treatment and restored with zirconia crown for esthetic purpose. Lower incisors were treated with pulp treatment and restored with composite resin. Upper right first primary molar was restored with stainless steel crown and other primary molars were treated with composite resin. There were no postoperative complications. According to her parents, the patient's compliance to oral hygiene management was greatly improved after the treatment since she was very pleased with the esthetic result and highly motivated by her looks. The treatment without sedation or general anesthesia would be possible once the airway is improved as the mandible grows.
Nowadays Korean society has a fast growing population of North Korean immigrant youth. Especially, North Korean immigrant youth, who are discontinuing formal education, experience difficulties in social exclusion and adaptation. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to understand the experiences of adaptation and social support of North Korean immigrant youth discontinuing formal education, and to seek affirmative supporting plans and solutions for their adaptation. The methodology utilized for this study was a case study research. On the basis of the results and categorization, 'a network between overall categories and of early adaptation' was derived. The major findings of this study are summarized as follows. First, the participants of this study experienced major difficulties during 'economical adaptation', and their economical adaptation was strongly interrelated with their 'educational adaptation'. The discontinuing of their education resulting from their fleeing period caused 'academic differential and age disparity.' Thus they could not enroll in the formal education system, and their insufficient educational background resulted in low wages and overwork due to manual labor jobs. Second, participants recognized 'interpersonal relations' as the most essential factor in adaptation, and 'social support' from the interpersonal relations played an important role in adaptation to and comfort in Korean society. 'Interactions with South Koreans' was recognized as a significant resource for gaining informational and appraisal support, but was not activated satisfactorily. On the other hand, interaction with North Korean immigrants was avoided by the reason that 'there's nothing to learn', however emotional support from North Korean immigrants of close relationship played an important role in participants' adaptation, especially in all aspects of psychological adaptation. Third, participants experienced a lot of difficulties and stresses in their 'physical health and psychological adaptation'. Their chronic diseases worsened by remaining untreated, and female perceived symptoms were observed more often than in male. Meanwhile, excessive 'stresses' from the unfamiliar environment of South Korea negatively affected their psychological adaptation. However, they were satisfied with sense of liberty and security from living in a democratic society.
This study has investigated the status and overview of design characteristics of customized shoes, which receives much recognition at domestic and overseas markets. Based on the market research on current consumer lifestyle and needs of the custom-shoes(which is an abbreviation of customized shoes), this study has provided its development directions, views and demands. The design types of custom-shoes have been broadly divide into two: firstly 'style centered custom-shoes'; secondly 'function centered custom-shoes'. Style centered custom-shoes are specifically divided into 3 types; first, formal custom-shoes; second, sports and casual custom-shoes; and lastly, bespoke shoes. Function centered custom-shoes design refers to enhancing the function of personal soleprint which has to be designed by delicately detailed insole and outsole, rather than alignment of exterior parts of the shoes. These are used in professional sports shoes and also include orthopedics footwear and grafted footwear for people who have disabled on foot. Custom footwear market has been highly expanded and has entered value-added market according to increasing interest in foot health and shopping trends on shoes buying like taking shoes as personal expression in accordance with a variety of places and situations. In the near future, custom-shoes can be produced in a couple of days due to the technological advance of 3D scanners and 3D printers. This phenomenon will wants more demands of specific shoes experts such as custom-design consultants or shoes fitting experts, who can overcome limitations of online custom-shoes stores.

The project on Geonjisan Universal Design Forest Trail in Jeonju City was designed and constructed by an NGO called 'Jeonbuk Forest for Life' which was a winner for the '2008 Open Competition by the 'Committee for Greening Society' established in Korea Land Corporation. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the design satisfaction of UD forest trail. Post Occupancy Evaluation (POE) method was applied to measure the user satisfaction and the total number of users. The main result of the study were as follows: the major users of the Geonjisan UD forest trail were people aged over 60 years old(37%) and the main purpose of trail usage were to 'walk and rest'(51.5%) and to 'exercise and rehabilitation' (40.6%). Furthermore, the overall user rating for the UD forest trail design was "satisfied"(3.91 point in 5-point Likert Scale). The three most influencing factors of the overall user satisfaction were facility management, user conflict, and trail width and slope. About forty-five people were found to be End-user in the UD forest trail while six people were found as End-user in non-UD trails. Most importantly, the number of End-user observed on the UD forest trail was greater than the number found in non-UD forest trail. The result implies that the UD forest trail attracts more End-users and provides opportunity for gathering and interaction with the other users. Moreover, the satisfaction rate for the UD forest trail landscape is found to be high in Likert scale, which we can assume that the well-grown existing trees and topographic features as well as appropriately designed wood-paths influence the high satisfaction rate of the users. The POE of UD forest trail revealed the importance of universal design concept due to its convenient uses of the handicapped, old, weak, pregnant woman or children.

In recent times, many people have problems of nutritional imbalance; lack or surplus intake of a specific nutrient despite the variety of available foods. Accordingly, the interest in health and diet issues has increased leading to the emergence of various mobile applications. However, most mobile applications only record the user's diet history and show simple statistics and usually provide only general information for healthy diet. It is necessary for users interested in healthy eating to be provided recommendation services reflecting their food interest and providing customized information. Hence, we propose a menu recommendation method which includes calculating the recommended calorie amount based on the user's physical and activity profile to assign to each food group a substitution unit. In addition, our method also analyzes the user's food preferences using food intake history. Thus it satisfies recommended intake unit for each food group by exchanging the user's preferred foods. Also, the excellence of our proposed algorithm is demonstrated through the calculation of precision, recall, health index and the harmonic average of the 3 aforementioned measures. We compare it to another method which considers user's interest and recommended substitution unit. The proposed method provides menu recommendation reflecting interest and personalized health status by which user can improve and maintain a healthy dietary habit.

There are approximately 25,724 shelters to which people can be quickly evacuated for safety in case of emergency across the nation, and Seoul has about 3,870 shelters. Those nationwide shelters are located at a point within a five-minute radius for quick evacuation. Seoul's shelter capacity can hold 285% of its population. The problem is, however, that there is no knowing how many shelters are reachable within five minutes when considering walking speed according to individual differences in age, height, health state, and physical condition. In addition, available service areas become different according to the spatial allocation and distribution of shelters with possible vulnerable points. This study thus defined the pedestrian walking speed at 1m/s, 1.3m/s, and 2m/s by reviewing previous studies and conducted network analysis of the Location Allocation Model with the designated shelters and road networks in Seoul. The results identified the shelter service and vulnerable areas in each administrative district of Seoul according to walking speeds. It was analyzed that the vulnerable areas in which the elderly could not reach a shelter were more than twice as big as those of adult men and women with a fast walking speed.
The virtual compensator which are realized using a multileaf collimator(MLC) and three-dimensional radiation therapy Planning(3D RTP) system was designed. And the feasibility study of the virtual compensator was done to verify that it can do the function of the conventional compensator properly. As a model for the design of compensator, styrofoam phantom and mini water phantom were prepared to simulate the missing tissue area and the calculated dose distribution was produced through the 3D RTP system. The fluence maps which are basic materials for the design of virtual compensator were produced based on the dose distribution and the MLC leaf sequence file was made for the realization of the produced fluence map. Ma's algorithm were applied to design the MLC leaf sequence and all the design tools were programmed with IDL5.4. To verify the feasibility of the designed virtual compensator, the results of irradiation with or without a virtual compensator were analyzed by comparing the irradiated films inserted into the mini water phantom. The higher dose area produced due to the missing tissue was removed and intended regular dose distribution was achieved when the virtual compensator was applied.

Although the life jacket can provide the buoyance with the drowner, heat loss can make the drowned individual be subject to the hypothermia. In this study, The thermal insulation of two types life jacket including inflatable and foam type were evaluate by both experiments and numerical analysis. To estimate the thermal resistance of the jackets, experiments on the heat flux were conducted by the thermal manikin exposed to cold water. Heat flux loss on the surface of thermal manikin were measured for both foam and inflatable type life jacket. Also, finite element method is applied to a body section in order to understand the level of hypothermia of each life jacket. The segmental of human thigh is represented by a multi-layered section which considers the heat conduction within tissue, bone and fat. As a result, the thermal resistance and hypothermia time of each jackets have been compared based on the finite element analysis. It was found that the insulation ability of suggested life jackets is better than that of conventional type.

Researches that apply the acceleration signal due to user's gait measured at the wearable device to the authentication technology are being introduced recently. The gait acceleration signal based authentication technologies introduced so far have assumed that an attacker can obtain a user's gait acceleration signal only by attaching accelerometer directly to user's body. And the practical attack method for gait acceleration signal based authentication technology is mimic attack and it uses a person whose physical condition is similar to the victim or identifies the gait characteristics through the video of the gait of the victim. However, mimic attack is not effective and attack success rate is also very low, so it is not considered a serious threat. In this paper, we propose Video Gait attack as a new attack method for gait acceleration signal based authentication technology. It is possible to know the position of the wearable device from the user's gait video signal and generate a signal that is very similar to the accelerometer's signal using dynamic equation. We compare the user's gait acceleration signal and the signal that is calculated from video of user's gait and dynamic equation with experiment data collected from eight subjects.

The defatted rice bran (DRB) was enzymatically hydrolyzed using eight commercial proteases for 4hr at optimum pH and temperature. Proteolytic hydrolysates were examined in supernatant and precipitate using lowry, semimicro kjeldahl and gravimetric method using weight difference before and after enzymatic hydrolysis. In lowry and kjeldahl protein assay method, two proteases (Alcalase and Protease N) were found to be the most effective enzymes. In gravimetric method, 60.6~118.3 mg protein/g DRB was hydrolyzed after eight commercial proteases treatments. Similar to lowry and kjeldahl method, 118.3 and 107.1 mg protein/g DRB were hydrolyzed after Alcalase and Protease N treatments, respectively. When two or three effective proteases (Protamex, Alcalase and Protease N) were applied at one time to obtain synergistic effect, significant increase (P<0.05) was observed when three proteases were applied at one time (63.4 mg protein/g DRB in lowry method and 204.5 mg protein/g DRB in gravimetric method). This result suggests that Alcalase and Protease N were the most effective enzymes for proteolysis of DRB and three commercial enzymes (Protamex, Alcalase and Protease N) showed the synergistic effect on the hydrolysis of DRB.
