  • The purpose of this study aims to be used as base data of a policy which forms university students' appropriate behavior for the prevention of infection by analyzing some university students' prevention awareness of new type of infection. A self-administered questionnaire survey about students' seriousness, sensitivity, self-efficacy, and prevention behavior intent of new infection, was conducted in an university located in Gyeonbuk from April. 30th to May. 11th, 2018. Analyzing factors which affect the prevention behavior intent of infection with controlled general factor and health behavior, the prevention behavior intent was increased by ${\beta}=.125$ as seriousness increases and ${\beta}=.709$ as self-efficacy increases in Model 2, final model. However, sensitivity has no significant effect on the prevention behavior intent. Originally sensitivity has to be a significant factor regarding to the prevention behavior intent of new infection. But the result that sensitivity has no influence at all, shows that the students are insensitive to new diseases as they don't fear or sense danger of new infection. Therefore, a disease control policy which helps to increase sensitivity has to be established.

  • This study attempted to derive important factors of emerging infectious diseases by collecting and analyzing text data onto emerging infectious diseases. For this purpose, articles in the Naver News database were directly crawled, pre-processed, and used for data analysis. In addition, additional analysis was performed using Big Kinds. As a result of the priority analysis, the importance was shown in the order of corona, infectious disease, quarantine, vaccine, outbreak, virus, infection, and development. As a result of the proximity centrality analysis, the importance was shown in the order of government, death, and plan, and the analysis result of Big Kinds showed that Covid-19 and the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were important. Based on the results of this study, it can be said that the government's policy support is needed to raise public awareness of new infectious diseases, prevent disease, and develop vaccines and treatments.

  • This study aimed to explore anxiety, risk perception, information literacy, and performance level of infection prevention practices against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) among nursing students during the pandemic. A descriptive online survey was conducted, targeting a total of 224 nursing students from June 8, 2020 to 14, 2020. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, analysis of variance, and correlation analysis using SPSS 26.0. The nursing students' level of anxiety was 6.86 out of 10, which was normal. Their information literacy level and performance level of infection prevention practices were 3.50 out of 4 and 4.44 out of 5, respectively, and these scores were considered high. The higher the level of anxiety, risk perception, and information literacy, the higher the level of infection prevention practices. The level of anxiety with respect to infection and risk perception may increase when new types of infectious diseases such as COVID-19 break out. Therefore, it is necessary to promote the accurate understanding of the infectious diseases by providing sufficient information. Accurate understanding of new infectious diseases can reduce the risk of transmission as it encourages people to thoroughly perform infection prevention practices.

  • The purpose of this study was to understand how a dental hygienist is viewed by students in terms of both image and job /employment perception using structural equations. This together with the incorporation of available online information would help in collating the necessary data for ensuring adequate manpower of dental hygienists' in the future. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS Statistics 24.0 and AMOS Graphics 21.0 statistics packages. It was found that students who perceive employment positively have a positive image of a dental hygienist even if a new infectious disease were to occur. They appreciate that a negative image of a dental hygienist's job during an epidemic could cause a negative perception of employment as a dental hygienist. Those who think negatively of the internet as a source of information believe that the internet has a lot of false information, is harmful, promotes anxiety, and has been shown to promote negative perceptions about employment as a dental hygienist. Those who think positively of internet information think that dental hygienists are susceptible to infection and can transmit infection, which has been shown to negatively affect their perception of employment. In conclusion, it is important to form an image of a dental hygienist through the recognition of the correct internet information in the period of new infectious diseases.

  • In the aftermath of a recent outbreak of Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), legal matters on the spread of epidemics have emerged as major social issues in Korea, with the awareness that rampant contagious diseases are disasters in society. Problems arose over damages arising from patients who contract infectious diseases, compensation for people under quarantine and for a partial, or entire, shutdown of hospitals, and information disclosure on infectious diseases. As epidemic-linked problems have never been socially disputed in Korea, the relevant legal issues appear to be studied comparatively less than other areas. As interests are heightened over legal issues on infectious illnesses amid the MERS scare, in-depth, further research on such legal issues should be conducted in an utmost effort to prevent and make preparations for epidemics which potentially become a social disaster, such as new Hong Kong flu, Ebola virus and Zika virus.

  • This study was a descriptive research study conducted to understand the relationship between the risk perception and preventive behavior of university students for COVID-19 infection, and to identify the factors that influence the preventive behavior. The subjects collected data from 228 university students of S University in Seoul. The collected data were analyzed using pearson's correlation and multiple regression. The results was the risk perception was 2.5 points out of 5, and the preventive behavior was confirmed as 3.1 points out of 4, and the preventive behavior was found to be affected by resilience, risk perception, self-isolation, and media dependence. In order to prevent new infectious diseases and to adapt to and recover from the post-COVID, it was discussed that there is a need to explore ways to strengthen individual resilience by utilizing the pure functions of the media along with disaster education.

Methods: Subjects were 210 nursing college students attending colleges in 5 cities and provinces nationwide. Data were collected from November 2017 to April 2018 using a self-administrated questionnaire, and analyzed utilizing descriptive statistics. Results: Considering the awareness of pandemic infectious diseases, the nursing students expressed high concern about the possibility of future outbreaks of pandemic infectious diseases and seriousness of the situation. There were numerous negative views on the response and stockpiling of drugs by the government. Ethical awareness of pandemic infectious diseases was high, with demands for accurate information and proper protective equipment. Overall, ethical decision-making when responding to pandemic infectious diseases represented a high score. Also, higher awareness levels of pandemic infectious diseases would result in increased ethical and ethical decision-making.
