Suggestion and Application of Didactical Principles for Using Mathematical Teaching Aids (수학 교구 활용을 위한 교수학적 원리의 제안 및 적용)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest didactical principles for using mathematical teaching aids and to applicate didactical principles in a relation with curriculum. First, we meta-analyzed related literature to suggest didactical principles for using mathematical teaching aids. And we suggested didactical principles as follows: principle of activities, principle of instruments, principle of learning. Using mathematical teaching aids with didactical principles in mind would help avoiding situations in which mathematical teaching aids are only used as interesting tools. Second, we concretized the meaning to applicate didactical principles and use mathematical teaching aids in a relation with curriculum. We considered domain, key concept, function, achievement standard, which were presented in the curriculum of mathematics, and suggested concrete activities. Third, we produced two designs for lessons on incenter and circumcenter of triangle and linear function's graph using mathematical teaching aids.

  • 7차 교육과정과 정보화시대를 맞이하여, 수학 교수-학습에서도 기술공학적 교구의 사용이 권장되고 있다. 이에 따라 많은 교원양성 기관과 단체들이 기술공학적인 교구에 대해 다양한 의견을 내고 있다. 여기에서는 먼저 기술공학적 교구의 사용에 대해 teaching 보다 학생의 learing을 중심이 되도록 하고 또한 인터넷과 네트웍 기반의 컨텐츠를 강조하는 원칙을 제시하고, 또 거북 기하학습 환경과 움직이는 기하학습 환경을 하나로 통합하여 인터넷에서 연결하여 쓸 수 있도록 http://javamath.snu.ac.kr 주소에 자바로 구현한 자바수학 마이크로월드의 설계에 대해 논한다.

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the problem of mathematic education of Korean Kindergarten, to search for the solution of the problem in korean Kindergarten. In particular, materials are mostly made and used by the teachers themselves, consuming too much time. Mathematics education materials available in Kindergartens were found to be insufficient. The reasons were the lack of effort by teachers to develop new materials as well as the lack of marketed materials.

  • The 7th curriculum sets a basic direction based on learner centered teaching. To this end, the curriculum puts a focus on activity centered classes using teaching tools. In reality, however, elementary school teachers find using the teaching tools in their classes difficult, although there are various studies going on to improve the practical use of the teaching tools in the classroom. In this paper, we present an effective approach to utilize those prior studies on using the teaching tools in classes for 4th, 5th and 6th graders.

  • 초등학교에서 7차 교육과정은 2002학년도부터 모든 학년에서 운용이 시작된다. 우리는 새로운 교육과정의 기본 방향을 ‘학습자 중심교육과정’ 이라 하고, 이에 대한 실천방안으로 초등수학교육에서는 ‘활동중심’ 교육과정의 전개를 특징으로 하고 있다. 특히 활동 중심교육에서 가장 중요한 것은 활동의 대상이 되는 교구의 활용이라 할 수 있다. 이러한 교구들 중에서 가장 일반적인 것은 조작교구이므로 이러한 조작교구의 종류와 특징, 성질을 이해하고 활용하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 그러나 실제 학교현장에서는 이러한 자료 활용에 대한 준비와 연구 미흡으로 실천하는데 어려움을 겪고 있는 것이 현실이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 보다 효과적으로 조작교구를 활용 할 수 있는 방안을 제7차 교과서의 내용을 중심으로 탐색하여 구체적인 예를 들어 교수 ${\cdot}$ 학습활동에 도움을 주고자 한다.

An Action Research on the Teaching Fraction Computation Using Semi-concrete Fraction Manipulatives (분수교구를 활용한 분수연산지도 실행연구)

  • This action research was carried out to help students learn fractions computation by making and using semi-concrete fraction manipulatives that can be used continuously in math classes. For this purpose, the researcher and students made semi-concrete fraction manipulatives and learned how to use these through reviewing the previously learned fraction contents over 4 class sessions. Afterward, through the 14 classes (7 classes for learning to reduce fractions and to a common denominator, 7 classes for adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators) in which the principle inquiry learning model was applied, students actively engaged in learning activities with fraction manipulatives and explored the principles underneath the manipulations of fraction manipulatives. Students could represent various fractions using fraction manipulatives and solve fraction computation problems using them. The achievement evaluation after class found that the students could connect the semi-concrete fraction manipulatives with fraction representation and symbolic formulas. Moreover, the students showed interest and confidence in mathematics through the classes using fraction manipulatives.

The Effects of Using the Geometric Manipulative for the Development of Spatial Sense (기하 교구의 활용이 공간 지각 능력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of using the geometric manipulative for the development of spatial sense and thus to find out a better mathematics teaching and learning method that could help develop students' spatial senses. The two fifth grade classes were randomly chosen as an experimental group (31 students) and a control group (32 students), respectively. This study implemented nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design of quasi-experimental design. The test instrument used in this study was a spatial sense test. The pretest and posttest were implemented with the same instrument. In addition, their classes were observed and videotaped, and the data and their study activities were analyzed. In conclusion, first, the geometric manipulative-aided activities contributes to developing students' spatial senses and their two sub-factors involves perceptual consistency and perception of spatial relationship. Second, the activities of grasping the components of solid figures, sketches and development figures by using the geometric manipulative contribute to boost students' perceptual consistencies and their perceptions of spatial relationship.

A Study on the Method of Using Educational Aids for Improving Mathematical Understanding (수학 이해력 증진을 위한 교구활용 방안에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study seeks entry into a method to make the use of educational aids popular. To achieve it, it is observed that instructions applying worksheets to make an activation of use of educational aids have influences on mathematical achievement and mathematical disposition and attitude. All variables exception with the frequence of use of educational aids are controlled in both experimental group and comparative group. According to the result, there is no significant difference of mathematical achievement in pre t-test between two groups, while experimental group get 10 points higher than comparative group in average (t=0.519, p<0.01). On the other hand, within intra-experimental group the influences of use of educational aids on mathematical achievement is positive without the achievement levels of students. The difference dependent on the levels of student is sought by ANCOVA using prescores as a covariance, and it appears in the significance level of 5%(F=4.885, p<0.05), and the effect is more in the lower level of students than in the middle and high level.

인터넷 상의 조작 도구를 이용한 수학교육 프로그램 개발

  • 저학년 학생에게도 적절한 표상이 제공되기만 하면 고등 지식을 수용할 수 있다는 사실은 브루너(J.S. Bruner)의 EIS 이론에 의하여 뒷받침 될 수 있다. 이를 위해서는 구체적인 조작이나 시각적인 표상이 제공되어야 한다. 그러나, 실물로써 교구를 제시하는 것은 현실적으로 많은 제약이 따르므로 그 대안으로 컴퓨터 환경에서 제공되는 조작 도구들을 고려해 볼 수 있다. 인터넷 환경은 접근에 있어 용이하며 별도의 비용이 필요 없고 업데이트가 용이하다는 장점을 가지고 있으므로 교구로써의 장점을 갖고 있다. 이에 따라 인터넷 상의 조작 도구를 통한 수학교육 프로그램을 개발하고자 한다.
