A Study on the Active Noise Control in Duct (닥트내 소음의 능동제어에 관한 연구)

  • There have been experiments dealing with the possibility of the actualization of the ANC system by means of operating the DSP adaptation filter. This filter is composed of various filters(including X-LMS algorithm, Filter-U algorithm, and Full-Feedback-Filter-U algorithm) that use ventilation fans and loudspeakers as a primary source in a circular duct as an experimental device. In this operation, the ANC system using the X - LMS algorithm was found to be more effective in reducing noise than without such system. When applying the input signal of the DSP board Full Feedback-Filtered-U algorithm system while having in mind that the additionally installed second control signal was gone through feedback and mixed into the detection microphone installed near the ventilation fan when using the first ventilation fan, the system was not emitted, but maintained stable during the operation of the control filter. At this point, noise tended to decrease at a maximum of l0dB compared to other algorithms at the frequency band of 170-250Hz.

Study on Vibration Induced by Fluid at a Water Pressure Reducing Valve through Structure-Fluid Coupled Analysis (구조-유체 연성해석을 통한 수도용 감압밸브에서의 유체유발진동에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the structure-fluid coupled analysis is carried out in order to examine the cause of the vibration induced by fluid in the pressure-reducing valves for water. It is confirmed that there is the noise at the area of low frequency of 250Hz by measuring noise at pressure reducing valve. The flow analysis is performed by the commercial software ANSYS/CFX. The flow velocity of about 40 m/s is formed by nozzle effect, and so negative pressure is happened in the pressure reducing valve. The structure analysis is carried out with the load condition of pressure distribution by flow formed in valve. The rubber material at disk is deformed to the extent of closing up flow passage. It is confirmed that the disc deformation which is occurred repeatedly is due to noise and vibration at the pressure reducing valve.

밀폐형 압축기의 소음진동에 대한 연구 예와 시급한 연구과제에 관하여

  • 압축기의 종류는 크게 dynamic type과 positive displacement type으로 우선 나눌 수 있다. 전자는 제트엔진에 사용되는 압축기에서 보는 바와 같이 기체의 속도를 변화시켜 동압을 정압으로 바꾸어 압력을 얻는 경우이다. 후자는 기체를 둘러싼 체적을 줄여서 압력을 얻는데 가전제품에 쓰이는 냉각용 압축기의 대부분의 종류가 이에 해당된다. 압축 기체의 종류에 따라 공기 압축기, 가스 압축기, 냉각용 압축기로도 나눌 수 있겠다. 냉각용 압축기는 다시 여러 가지 방법으로 분류할 수 있겠지만, 구동 모타의 용량이나 냉각 용량에 따라, 대형, 소형으로 분류하거나, 압축기를 둘러싼 셀의 구조에 따라 밀폐형과 반 밀폐형으로 나눌 수 있다. 밀폐형은 냉매를 반 영구적으로 보충할 필요가 없도록 용접형 셀을 가진 구조로 압축기를 다시 열어서 보수할 수가 없다. 냉장고나 냉방기 같은 가전 제품에 쓰이는 압축기는 대부분 소형 밀폐형이 되겠다. 산업용의 중,대형 압축기는 보수의 목적으로, 자동차 냉방용 압축기는 동력이 엔진축에서 공급되는 구조 상의 이유로 반 밀폐형이 채택된다. 보수가 사실상 불가능한 밀폐형의 구조 상 소형 냉장용 압축기는 거의 무한 수명을 감안한 설계를 요하게 되고, 이것이 압축기의 보수적인 설계 및 개발 성향에 어느 정도 영향을 주었다고 볼 수 있다. 이런 소형 밀폐형 압축기(positive displacement, fractional horsepower, hermetic compressor)에 관한 연구의 소개가 이 글의 주 관심이 되겠다. 압력을 얻기 위해 체적을 변화시키는 mechanism도 여러 가지가 있는 바, 왕복동식 피스톤(reciprocating piston) 압축기가 가장 오랫동안 사용되어 온 구조이다. 회전식으로 압축을 얻는 방식으로는 로타리 피스톤식, 스크류식, 스크롤식 압축기가 있다. 로타리 피스톤(rotary piston)식 압축기는 약 20여년 전 부터 냉방용 압축기에서부터 널리 쓰이게 되었다. 약 10여년전부터 상용화 된 스크롤(scroll) 형 압축기도 현재 상대적으로 용량이 큰 가정용 냉방기를 중심으로 많이 쓰이고 있다. 스크류형 압축기는 보통 중대형 상업용에 주로 쓰인다.

A comparative study on the user satisfaction between two different piezoelectric engines (두가지 피에조 엔진의 사용자 만족도 비교)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study is to compare the performance of two piezoelectric engine systems by surveying satisfaction from dental clinicians. Materials and Methods: Two piezoelectric systems were evaluated: TRAUS XUS10 (Saeshin), PIEZOSURGERY touch (Mectron). For this study, 20 dentists responded to the 11 questionnaires in which 5 point Likert-type scale was used. The two devices were operated for 10 seconds and measured 5 times to compare the maximum noise values. In heat emission test, the handpiece was operated for 3 minutes and heat was measured at three positions each. Results: TRAUS XUS10 had higher satisfaction level on motor noise (P < 0.05). About function key and handpiece heat generation, PIEZOSURGERY touch showed higher satisfaction (P < 0.05) than TRAUS XUS10. The maximum noise level for each of the devices was confirmed to be 56.6 dB for the TRAUS XUS10 and 56.0 dB for PIEZOSURGERY touch. The two piezoelectric engines satisfied the safety standards with an operation temperature below $41^{\circ}C$ after having been operated for 3 minutes. Conclusion: Except for the function key and handpiece heat emission, TRAUS XUS10 has comparable performance with PIEZOSURGERY touch.

Development of the Soundproof Enclosure for Power Transformers (전력용 변압기 차음실 개발)

  • Because of the increase of power demand and expansion of downtown, it is necessary to install the power transformers at the substation in the residential area. But the public complaints have increased due to the noise of the power transformers in the substation. A soundproof wall has been employed to the power transformers in the outdoor substations and a soundproof door, a soundproof shutter and soundproof equipment for wind-path has been employed to power transformers in the indoor substations in order to isolate sound propagation from the noise of the power transformers. But the noise reduction results of these methods are not satisfied. In this study, a soundproof enclosure is developed to effectively isolate sound propagation from the noise of the power transformers. The performance of the sound attenuation of the developed soundproof enclosure is verified in a 154[kV] transformer. As a result, 15[dB] sound attenuation in 120[Hz] component is achieved by applying the developed soundproof enclosure to a 154[kV] transformer.

  • It is very important to remove the noise levels made by an electric home appliance and machines they are located in the auditory region. The noise of ship engine room is known as it is not easy to lower so the working environment of the engine room is the worst condition because the improvement for the noise seemed insignificant and the hearing loss is occurred. As the monitoring equipment and an intelligent control system are improved rapidly the main engine of the ship can be enclosed with an acoustic barrier and any other absorbtion equipment. In this study, the sound absorbtion barrier is experimentally researched by change the volume and the length of the neck for the Helmholtz resonator as the resonator can absorb the noise effectively.

An Analysis of the Sound Propagation between Rooms with Different Mediums (서로 다른 매질을 갖는 격실사이의 음파전달해석)

  • In this paper, an analysis of sound propagation between two rooms with different mediums is discussed. Statistical energy analysis (SEA) is used to consider energy equilibrium among subsystems associated with the sound pressure levels in two rooms and the vibration level of the wall between rooms. Effect of the sound radiation from the structure-borne noise of the wall on sound pressure level of the receiving room is investigated. For a numerical example, sound propagation between engine room and water tank joined by a steel plate whose size is $8.4{\times}4$ m, is considered. It is found that when the critical frequency of the plate is above the frequency range of interest, the sound pressure level in the water tank is dominated by sound transmission through the plate, while sound radiation from the structure-borne noise of the plate is negligible except low frequency range below 63 Hz.

  • The noise of a compressor is a major contributor to overall noise radiated from the refrigerator. The major source of the noise is radiated by the vibration of the compressor shell. In this study, to identify the dynamic characteristics of compressor shell, a compressor shell is divided into several components and these are analyzed with a commercial FEM(Finite Element Method) package such as MSC/NASTRAN. Using substructure synthesis method, the dynamic characteristics of the total system is identified. The coherence of each component to the total system is computed by using strain and kinetic energy. To increase the frequency of the first resonance mode which is most effective mode to the noise of the compressor shell, the improving strategy of dynamic characteristics is suggested by changing mass and stiffness of the coherence component to the first mode.

Noise Attenuation Effects of Trees (수목의 소음감쇄효과)

  • To investigate the noise attenuation effects of various vegetation configurations, noise levels on 6 study sites along relatively heavy traffic roads were measured. The differences between noise level measures at 1m and 10m spots from the road range from 10 to 15dB depending upon the attributes of the vegetation. When flat grass land was set to control plot, the maximum noise attenuation at 10m spot was measured at the densely planted shrubs with 5dB difference. The areas on upward slope from the road showed the least attenuation effects. Based on the study results, an appropriate setting for low level residential area noise buffer belt would be densely planted shrubs with at least 3m width and 2m height. To be effective, 3m width soft areas covered with grasses are needed at the front and behind sides of the belt. More than 15dB of the noise level caused by the road traffic would be attenuated with the prescription.

Study on Tip-Vortex Cavitation and Its Noise Characteristics - Effects of Surface Roughness - (타원형날개끝 캐비테이션과 유기소음 특성연구 - 표면거칠기의 영향 -)

  • The purpose of present study is to investigate the surface roughness on tip-vortex cavitation and its induced noise, emanating from an elliptic wing of NACA 0012 section. Roughness elements of $200{\mu}m$ are applied to the 10% portion of wing tip, and then, the wing tip as well as the leading edge. It is shown from cavitation observation that the cavitation inception is first visible at about half chord downstream of wing tip for most experimental conditions, and developed into the tip-vortex cavitation and finally the fully developed cavitation as cavitation number is decreased. Acoustic noise generated by a tip-vortex cavitation has its frequency range of 3 kHz to 50 kHz, while the fully-developed cavitation at lower cavitation number induces a broad band spectrum. It is also shown that, when the roughness elements are applied to the wing tip and the leading edge, the cavitation characteristics and its induced noise are improved. Moreover, it is appeared that the condition at which the rough surface is at pressure side gives a better result. although its lift-drag ratio is reduced.
