The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationships between sexuality recognition and life satisfaction of the elderly. 256 structured questionnaires were collected from the elderly who were 65 years old plus and live Suwon city and in the vicinity of this city. Findings of the study were as follows. First, the sexuality recognition of the elderly is composed of four(4) sub-variables such as Belief on sexuality, Value of Sexuality, Conversation on sexuality, and Attitude to sexuality. Second, some differences in sexuality recognition and satisfaction of the elderly according to the demographic factors of the sample were found. Third, in case of having spouse, being good health and economic status, and being high level of sexuality recognition variables such as conversation on sexuality and attitude to sexuality, the level of life satisfaction of the elderly were high. In other words, it is necessary to develop education program of sexual education to revitalize the education of the elderly's awareness about sex.

우리나라의 노년층에 대한 이해에 있어 가장 어려운 점은 성에 대한 인식의 부족에서 오는 경우가 많다. 실제 상당수의 노인이 노화로 인해 신체적으로 퇴화되더라도 성기능을 보전하고 싶어 하는 욕구나 이성교제에 대한 관심도 많은 편이다. 이제 노인의 성에 대한 인식을 새롭게 하고 건강하고 활기찬 생활이 되도록 노력하는 것이 필요하다.

The purpose of this study is to identify individuals' perceptions of extramarital relationships between themselves and their spouses and to reveal relevant factors. The results of analyzing the data obtained by conducting a survey of married people (402 persons) are as follows: First, the perception of spouse's extramarital relationship turned out to be much more negative than the person's perception of his(her) own extramarital relationship, which led to the discovery of a double standard. Second, men are far more receptive to extramarital relationships than women. Third, factors affecting the perception of extramarital relationships are gender(-.161), age(.144), presence of employment(.107), physical attraction(.087), autonomy(.120), emotional alienation(.105), openness(.124), pervasiveness of extra-marital relationship(.303), and satisfaction with sexual life(-.131). Factors affecting the perception of spouses' extramarital relationships are found to be emotional maturity(-.127), prevalence of extramarital relationships around them(.113) and satisfaction with sex life(1.131). Based on the main findings, various types of practical intervention that can be used to deal with extramarital relations are discussed.

(북리대수의학부 강사이며 다무라 제약회사 학술부장인 세끼씨가 번역) 이 책의 제목이 다소 저속해 보이는 것이 사실이지만, 내용은 성생활이라기보다는 더 좋은 건강생활을 위하여 우리의 식생활에서 주의하지 않으면 안될 문제점들을 설득력있게 다루고 있어 누구나 관심을 가져볼만하다. 저자는 이 책에서 계란의 영양가치에 대한 그릇된 판단을 지적하고 콜레스테롤에 대한 올바른 견해를 제시하여, 계란에 대한 소비자의 인식이 새로워지도록 하고 있다. 우리도 이번 기회에 계란에 대한 영양가를 재인식하고, 이를 소비자에게도 널리 홍보해야 하겠기에 내용을 요약 소개한다.

This study measured the understanding of the sexual life of the elderly in the rural community. Questionnaires were given to 421 elderly enrolled at 16 community health posts in Chungcheongbuk-do from November 10. 2003 to January 20. 2004. The mean score of the understanding of the elderly's sexual life was 21.0 out of a possible 36 points. Of the scores of the understanding of the elderly's sexual life depending upon general characteristics, there were statistically significant differences in sex, education level. the presence of spouse. residence pattern. religion. economic supporter. and subjective health status.

This study is to research the comprehensive recognition of male elderly about the sex life in old age. We collected data through face to face interview after obtaining the consents of 13 male elderly over 65 years old who reside in Kimhae Gyeongnam and Busan. The result of study showed that the sexual recognition of male elderly participants include the core concept of , , < the sex with restriction> and . In other words, the male elderly recognized the sexual life of old age as a natural and instinctive thing, the restrictions still exist including the negative recognition of family and surrounding people and diseases but it is found that the improvement of social recognition about sexual desire, the sex education and aggressive support for the various solutions are required. As the sexual awareness of the elderly is the comprehensive and broad study, the amalgamative and integrated study should be continued in the various fields. Through this, we tried to suggest the basic documents to the effective and differentiated individual sex consultation based on the empirical characteristics and desire of male elderly, and customized sex education and the development of local society program.

Purpose: Sexuality is important for the quality of life in old men, but this issue has been less explored due to social prejudice. Therefore, this study was carried out to describe a correlation between sex life and depression perceived by old men. Method: The subjects were 370 old men who were aged over 60 and lived in a city and three provinces. Instruments used in this study were Perception of Sex life Scale 01 items) and Depression Scale (20 items). The data was collected from December 2001 to February 2002 by written responses of the subjects to the questionnaire as well as one-to-one interview by research assistants for subjects. Statistical analysis for the data was done using SPSS and the level of significance was tested at 95% of confidence interval. Result: 1) Mean age of the subjects was $69.35{\pm}5.70$. A total of 253 subjects (68.6%) had spouse, and 191 of the subjects (52.3%) had sexual intercourse as frequently as 3 times per month. The average score for perception of sex life was $21.25{\pm}5.06$, out of the total score of 44, and that of depression was $35.08{\pm}9.29$ out of the total score of 80. 2) Perception of sex life was statistically significant by age, education, disease, medication, living arrangement, marital status, presence of girlfriend, pattern of inter-coitus, pocket money age of last coitus, subjective health state, and relationship (P<0.05). 3) Depression was statistically significant by age, education, disease. medication, living arrangement, marital status, satisfaction for marriage life, pattern of inter-coitus, feeling for change of sex life, pocket money, subjective health state, and relationship (P<0.05). 4) The correlation between perception of sex life and depression was negative, showing that depression tended to decrease as perception of sex life increases. Conclusion: It is concluded that depression in old men is closely related to their sex life. Positive sex life may have an important effect on the quality of life in old men.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to review the elderly people's sexual life, their perception of sex and identify difference between perception of sex of elderly and adults. Methods: A structured questionnaire survey was conducted for 188 elderly people and 181 adults. Collected data was analyzed with frequency, percentage, $x^2$-test, t-test, ANOVA. Results: 54.0% of the elderly were keeping their sexual life. 44.6% of those keeping their sexual life had a sexual affair once or twice a month. 56.4% of them had a sexual affair with their spouses. The elderly subjects scored 2.04 on average out of the full point of 4.0 about their perception of sexual life. Specifically, male subjects scored higher(2.41) than female subjects(1.67). There was significant difference between the elderly people's perception of sexual life and adults' the perception of sexual life about the elderly. The perception of sexual life differed significantly depending on the existence and non-existence of the spouse, sex, education, health state, present sexual life, sexual frequency, sexual satisfaction, the solution of its desire, the feeling about the sex. Conclusion: It was demonstrated through this study that the elderly people were maintaining their sexual desire and life continuously, and therefore, it is conceived that the elderly people's sex should be assessed and handled from a general perspective.

The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics and factors of each area by considering the gender health of the elderly as the integration of mental, physical, emotional, and social gender health based on the WHO gender health. The sexual health of the elderly is significantly different by gender, academic background, and region, and there is a clear difference in mental, physical, emotional sexual health and social sexual health. The mental, physical and emotional sexual health of the elderly in urban areas, those with high education and male is high, but the elderly in the rural areas, those with low education, and female are high in social sexual health. The factors affecting sexual health are as follows. Mental sexual health was positively influenced by satisfaction of sexual life and sexual knowledge. Physical sexual health was positively influenced by life and spouse satisfaction, and emotional sexual health was positively influenced by sexual relationship, spouse satisfaction, sexual life satisfaction and sexual knowledge. Social sexual health has a negative (-) effect on spouse satisfaction and sexual relationships. Integrated sexual health in old age can affect subjective health and quality of life, leading to successful aging. Sexual health education is needed to form a safe and healthy sexual life and interpersonal relationship. The 'sex' that appears as a cumulative trajectory of life should be accompanied by the accurate sexual health awareness and sex education that encompasses all generations. Therefore, in the composition of sex health education program, it is necessary to reflect the components that can enhance the sensitivity of adulthood to strengthen understanding and communication of spouse.

The main purpose of the study is to identify the perception, as well as the prejudices, of sexuality of the elderly and their sexual life. Older men and women aged 66-80 (N=17) who are married, healthy, and living in communities were interviewed regarding ADL, present and past sexual practices, prejudices on elderly sexuality, and obstacles to sexual life. The findings of this study are as follows: First, the old perceived that sexuality even in old age is an important part of life. However, they were also prejudiced about sexual intimacy in old age. Second, although an increase in age is correlated with a decrease in sexual activity, a number of older men and women continue to have active sexual life and they are satisfied with it as ever. This indicates a duality in the way the elderly perceive sexuality. Third, health status, partner's responsiveness, and environmental problems are prominent obstacles to sexual life. The study revealed that late-life sexuality must be conceived as a complex bio-psycho-social phenomenon. Consequently, it is important to hold sexual education programs for the young and the old.
