  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influenza vaccination rate and vaccination-related factors in adult diabetics in Korea using the Korean Community Health Survey (KCHS). Data on 228,261 adults aged 19 years and over were derived from the KCHS, which was conducted in 2015. Sociodemographic factors, health behavior, comorbid diseases, and subjective health status were analyzed for their relationships with influenza vaccination by the chi-squared test and multiple logistic analysis. As a result, the level of influenza vaccination rate among adult diabetics in Korea was as low as 62.4%. For those with diabetes, Influenza vaccination was related with age, gender, education level, residency, marital status, occupation, smoking, health screening, and comorbid diseases (p<0.05). In conclusion, in order to increase the influenza vaccination rate among diabetic patients, systematic education and publicity are essential to raise awareness of vaccination. At the same time, the government should support them with their policies such as free vaccination expansion.

  • This study aims to provide the relevant basis upon which prediction of dyslipidemia should be made based on body information. Using the National Health Insurance big data (3,312,971 people) canonical correlation analysis was performed between body information and lipid-profile. Body information included age, height, weight and waist circumference, while the lipid-profile included total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL cholesterol and LDL cholesterol. As a result, when the waist circumference and the weight are large, triglycerides increase and HDL cholesterol level decreases. In terms of age, weight, waist circumference, and HDL cholesterol, the canonical variates (the degree of influence) were significantly different according to sex. In particular, the canonical variate was dramatically changed around the forties and fifties in women in terms of weight, waist circumference, and HDL cholesterol. The canonical correlation results of the health care big data presented in this study will help construct a predictive model that can evaluate an individual's health status based on body information that can be easily measured in a non-invasive manner.

  • Despite the fact that Internet users around the world watch YouTube every day, very few users accurately recognize the recommendation algorithm for search results, and Google and YouTube are not disclosing it. Researchers tried to explore the undisclosed algorithm of YouTube in a reverse engineering design method, find key factors, and check the logical structure in which media platform operators recommend keyword search results and arrange them on the screen. Therefore, researchers studied the basic content priority factors through several months of discussion and data collection, and tried to reverse engineer the influencing factors based on the recommendation results according to male and female gender among the collected keyword search results. Although researchers' design only analyzed some of the almost infinite level of data uploaded and viewed for more than hundreds of hours every hour, these exploratory attempts will study media platform algorithms in the future, understand the intentions of operators, and protect users. thought it could be done.

  • In this study, PASW Statistics ver. 18.0 was used to analyze the correlation between chewing difficulty and osteoarthritis in the population of 8,498 persons aged 50 years and older who had completed the health related questionnaire in the fifth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey in 2010~2012. The following conclusion was drawn: The distribution of the chewing difficulty status showed that 38.8% of the respondents had chewing difficulty and that there was no significant difference by gender. Older respondents tended to have significantly greater chewing difficulty 34.3% of the respondents aged from 50 to 64 years and 46.4% of those aged 65 years and older, those who had lower levels of education and income, who were smokers, and who had higher levels of depression and stress suffered from significantly greater chewing difficulty. Chewing difficulty and osteoarthritis were correlated with each other: the respondents having chewing difficulty had 1.44 (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.23~1.70) higher prevalence of osteoarthritis than those with no such difficulty. In addition, such correlation was not found in males: the former had 1.36 (95% CI, 0.98~1.88) higher prevalence of osteoarthritis than the latter, which was not statistically significant. Such correlation was found in females: the former had 1.47 (95% CI, 1.22~1.76) higher prevalence of osteoarthritis than the latter, which was statistically significant. Therefore, the chewing difficulty status affected osteoarthritis for females aged 50 years and older. Therefore, the efforts to solve oral health problems through oral hygiene would help prevent osteoarthritis from worsening and manage the condition.

  • The purpose of this study was to understand socio-demographic factors related to older adults' participation patterns in lifelong education. For the purpose, this study used the raw data of 2017 Survey of the Living Conditions of the Elderly (SLCE) conducted by The Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs. From the data of 10,073 older adults, their lifelong education participation, participating program types, participating organizations, and participating frequency were analyzed by their sex, age, educational level, household income, the longest job status, and health status. This study found that female, age of 70-74 and 75-79, educational levels of high school and higher, the longest job status of regular employees and unpaid family workers, and decent health status of older adults more participated in lifelong education. According to lifelong education program types, significant differences were found between education groups of middle school/lower and groups of high school/higher and between 1, 2 quintile income groups and 3, 4, 5 quintile income groups. In relation to the participating organizations, groups of 70 years and older, middle school and higher education level, under 3 quintile income, and poor health tended to participate in lifelong education at the elderly welfare center, senior citizens, and elderly classrooms. In terms of participation frequency, high school and college/higher than 0 year of school education, and regular workers than unpaid family workers were more frequently participated in lifelong education. This study showed the inequality in lifelong education participation according to older adults' demographic characteristics; finally, this study suggested necessary policies and academic discussions for future older adults' lifelong education.
