A Study of Subjectivity about Virtual Fashion

  • The purpose of this study was to apply the Q methodology to type subjective perceptions of virtual clothing and to examine the characteristics of each type. Perceptions of virtual clothing were analyzed into four types. The first type was the "virtual clothing trusting fit grasping type," who preferred to use virtual clothing and believed that virtual clothing would help them grasp the fit. The second type was the shopping mall adoption-positive design understanding type, which believes that virtual clothing is useful for design understanding and that all shopping malls should have a virtual clothing system. The third type was the environmental pollution reduction virtual clothing purchase type, where the virtual clothing reduces environmental pollution and the user wants to purchase virtual clothing that cannot actually be worn. The fourth type was the actual clothing-like fun-seeking type, in which the virtual clothing resembles actual clothing and the shopper believes that the virtual clothing will make shopping more enjoyable. Depending on the type, the avatar was required to adjust the dimensions of the avatar, enhance the design expression of the garment, equip the avatar with decorative items, and produce virtual clothing for sale.

The color characteristics of preferred clothing textiles of college students in spring and fall - A comparison of clothing textiles for top and bottom - (대학생의 춘추용 의복품목별 선호소재의 색 특성 연구 - 상의와 하의용 의복소재의 비교 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze and compare the color characteristics of preferred clothing textiles of college students. One hundred nine male and female college students were evaluated for their preference to clothing textiles in previous research. To analyze the color characteristics, spectral data were measured. Color, color tone, and values of $L^*,\;a^*,\;b^*$ according to clothing item were compared. In addition, chromaticity diagram was drawn. The results of this study were as following. 1. The color of the shirts textile that college student preferred most in spring/fall was PB(purple blue) color, lt(light) tone. In general, the preferred textiles for shirts represented a simple color that is close to achromatic color with light and soft shade. The color of the blouse textiles that college student preferred most was PB color, d(dull), g(grayish) and W(white) tone. 2. The most frequently shown color of upper garment was PB, followed by Y(yellow) for shirt and R(red) for blouses. College students prefer a simple color which is close to achromatic color, and a light and soft color was preferred for shirts fabric and they preferred various, medium shades, but closer to pure colors for blouses because college students tend to consider that the aesthetic side is important and usually wear blouses less often than shirts. 3. For slacks, the colors of the preferred textiles were B(blue), PB color and lt.g.(light grayish), g, d and bk(black) tone. Therefore, the preferred textiles for slacks represented simple colors such as bluish or close to achromatic color with light or dark shade. For skirt, YR(yellow red), PB color and lt.g, lt, d. tone were preferred. Therefore, soft light or moderately toned various colors that are close to pure color were especially preferred for skirts. 4. The colors of preferred fabrics for slacks and skirts differed. The colors of the preferred fabrics for slacks were mostly cold color, whereas those of skirts were mostly warm color. And college students preferred various, medium shaded and closer to pure colors for skirts because they tend to consider the aesthetic side as being important. 5. The pattern of preferred fabrics was mostly solid, regardless of clothing item, and melange was the second most preferred pattern. 6. Through the analysis of $L^*,\;a^*,\;b^*$ values, shirt and blouse textiles showed higher $L^*$ value than that of slacks and skirt. The preferred textiles of college students were generally close to achromatic color because the values of $a^*$, and $b^*$ were very low, as confirmed by the result of the chromaticity diagram.

The Relationships Between the Clothes Self-image and Clothes Design Preferences of Elderly Women (노년층여성의 의복 자아이미지와 선호 디자인과의 관계)

  • This study was to find out clothing design preferences, according to the clothing self-image of elderly women and to grasp the variety on clothing of elderly women and thereby to help in merchandise production planning and putting the brands into markets and to provide data for establishing a sales strategy a d to itemize women with the goods which can satisfy the desire and taste of consumer groups in the quality market. For this purpose , various researches as above were conducted .The object of this study was a total of 488 elderly women above full 55 from an elderly women and who lived in downtown Pusan. The data were analysed by using MANOVA, ANOVA , factors analysis and frequency analysis, and the Cronbach α was also applied . The conclusions made based on the theoretical background and the result of questionnaire surveys are as follows ; 1. The realistic self-image of clothing showed a similar pattern by age. 50's and 60's showed little difference by item but 70's was greater in variation between items compared to 60's. The response to each item was that most people answered "common" and they showed a pattern that responded low only in items of 'colorful' , individualistic', 'susceptible to fashion'. A similar pattern was shown by age band also in the ideal self-image and the response to each item appeared higher than in the realistic self-image , and also in items of 'colorful', 'individualistic ' , 'susceptible to fashion' the response appeared low and showed a unity. 2. The results of clothing design preferences examined on the self-image according to age are as follows ; 1) Fro jacket in the realistic self-image , 50's and 60's preferred 'tailed collar' , 'set-in sleeve', 'hips long' and 'plain jacket' and 70's agreed to the design preferences in the items except 'open collar' and also in the idealistic self-image , the degree of preference was same. 2) For skirt in the realistic self-image , 50's and 60's preferred 'tight skirt', 'normal length' , 'plain skirt' and it was appeared that 70's preferred 'pleat skirt' , 'medium length' , 'plain skirt'. Also in the idealistic self-image , the degree of preference was same. 3) For blouse in the realistic self-image, 50's preferred 'open collar', 'round neck line' , 'long set-in sleeve' , 'plain separation belt', 'open front', 'zipper' ad 60's agreed to the favorite designs with 50's except puff sleeve, and 70's appeared to prefer fastening buttons without belt. In the designs preferred in the idealistic self-image, 50's agreed with 50's of the realistic self-image and for 60's , the designs except puff sleeve type and no belt type agreed to 50's and 70's except puff sleeve agreed with 70's of the realistic self-image in their design preferences.

A Study of the Architectural Characteristics Depicted on Andre Courrs Fashion Design (앙드레 꾸레쥬의 패션 디자인에 나타난 건축양식 특성연구)

  • 앙드레 꾸레쥬는 자신의 디자인에 건축적 조형미를 표현한 대표적인 디자이너이다. 그의 디자인들은 라인 뿐 아니라 색채, 소재, 액세서리에 이르기까지 건물을 짓듯이 설계, 구성되어 있다. 최근 복식미의 건축적 조형성이 강조되고 있는 것을 감안할 때, 60년대 이미 선구자적인 역할을 하면서 자신의 건축가적인 기호를 유감없이 발휘해온 꾸레쥬를 연구한다는 것은 21세기를 향한 패션의 발전 측면에서 조금이라도 의미가 있지 않을까 생각한다. 본 연구에서는 앙드레 꾸fp쥬가 가장 활발히 활동했던 1974년에서 1970년까지 그의 디자인들을 집중 연구하였는데, 그의 패션디자인에 건축양식의 특징들이 어떻게 나타났는지에 연구의 초점을 맞추었다. 본 연구의 대상으로 사용된 실제의 옷 샘플들은 뉴욕 메트로폴리탄 예술박물관내의 Costume Institute Storage 에 있는 의복과 액세서리들을 직접, 관찰 , 분석한것이고 그 박의 사진들은 패션과 건축에 관한 서적과 잡지, 박물관내의 Slide Library , 그리고 Costume Institute Library Collection에서 발췌 , 비교 연구한 것이다. 일찍이 엔지니어링과 건축을 공부했던 앙드레 꾸레쥬는 50년대의 패션 디자이너의 거장 발렌시아가 밑에서 10년 넘게 일하다가 독립하였는데 그의 디자인 세계는 줄곧 여성들이 입고 편히 활동 할 수 있는 기능성을 강조하면서 단순하고 편안한 의복 구성에 중점을 두었다. 그리고 그는 이러한 자신의 패션 철학과 의복제작 과정들은 현대건물이 갖는 단순성, 기능성의 특징과 일치한다고 믿었다. A. 라인(Line) 앙드레 꾸레쥬는 패션 디자인에서의 비레는 건축에서구조를 쌓아가는 것과 같은 것이라고 생각하고 옷에서의 기본 구성을 기하학적인 라인에 두었다. 그래서 그의 옷들은 A-라인, 사각형, 사다리꼴,,, 등의 분명한 실루엣을 이루고 있는데 이러한 기본라인을 뒷받침이라도 하듯 소매가 아주 짧거나 없는 것이 특징이다. 황금분할이 아닌 1 : 1 구성은 그가 독특하게 사용한 비례방법의 하나인데 그것은 자켓과 스커트의 길이비례, 요크와 몸판간의 면적비례 등에서 잘 나타나고 있다. 그리고 그는 , 의복구성의 비례를 강조하기 위해 사용한 강한 색상의 대비를 현대건물의 인테리어에 빛을 사용하는 것과 같은 이치라고 설명한다. B.색상(Color) 흰색은 그러한 그의 비례강조 의복에 가장 적절한 색으로 사용되었다. 그는 빨강, 오렌지, 녹색, 분홍등 강렬한 원색을 사용하였는데도 불구하고 흰색은 그의 건축양식 발상의 Ideo를 완성시키는 완전한 색이었다. 뜨거운 날씨에 흰색이 가장 기능적인 색인 것처럼 강한 원색 대비를 통해 비례강조를 하면서 동시에 그것을 뒷받침하는 가장 합리적이고 기능적인 색은 흰색이라고 믿었다. C. 소재 (Material) 앙드레 꾸레쥬는 건물을 짓듯이 사람위에 옷을 건축한다고 믿었기 때문에 자연히 둔탁하고 딱딱한 소재가 많이 사용되었다. 비닐, 금속류, 시퀸스처럼 광택나고 투명한 재료 선호는 그 당시 현대 건축에서 선풍적으로 많이 사용되었던 유리, 금속류, 크리스탈 등 비치고 광택나는 건축재료와 일맥상통하는 것이다. 그러한 선국적인 내료 사용결과로 보여진 괴상하고 선정적인 그러면서도 아주 단순한 패션은 미래 지향적인 건축양식 구조의 " Simple", "Plain" 느낌과 정확하게 같은 것이다. 이상과 같이 앙드레 꾸레쥬는 옷을 디자인 했다기 보다는 건축했다. 주목할만한 점은 60년대 말 당시 발표되었던 그의 건축 구조적인 디자인의 특징들이 21세기를 앞둔 90년대에 다시 크게 유행하고있다는 점이다. 꾸레쥬 역시, 최근 자신의 디자인을 통해 건축적 조형미와 미래지향적 이미지를 더욱 강조하고 있는 것을 볼 수있다. 단순하면서 우주공간을 선회하는 듯한 입체적인 라인, 흰색을 비롯한 자연에 가까운 색을 중심으로 하되, 밝은 색조의 하이라이트, 플라스틱, 금속류와 같이 딱딱하고 광택나며 비치는 재료 사용,, 등등이 바로 그것이다. 그리고 이러한 그에 미래 지향적이고 조형적인 디자인들은 앞으로 어떻게 더 모험적인 모습으로 선보일지 우리 모두가 주목할만한 일인 것이다.

Preference and sensibility on the Single patterns of T shirts according to Personality of Middle School Students (남자 중학생 성격에 따른 티셔츠 단독무늬에 대한 선호도 및 감성)

  • 본 연구에서는 남자 중학생을 대상으로 1) 티셔츠 단독무늬에서 어떤 감성을 느끼는지 알아보고, 2)선호하는 티셔츠가 무엇이며 그 특징은 무엇인지 알아보았다. 또, 3) 성격에 따라 티셔츠 단독무늬에서 느끼는 감성차이가 있는지에 대해 알아보았다. 본 연구의 연구문제를 실증적으로 조사하기 위하여 설문지법을 이용하였다. 설문지의 구성은 3부분으로 구성하여 1부에서는 MBTI를 이용한 성격유형에 관한 측정문항 2부에서는 의복행동에 관한 측정 문항 3부에서는 티셔츠 단독무늬에 대한 감성 측정 문항이 포함되었다. 본 연구는 인천 지역에 사는 중학생 380명을 대상으로 설문조사에 의해 진행 통계분석은 SPSS 10.0을 이용하여 t test와 분산분석, 대응분석 등으로 분석하였다. 이 중 무성의한 설문지를 제외한 총 331부를 자료 분석에 사용하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 남자 중학생들이 선호하는 단독무늬는 인공물을 소재로 한 사실적인 모티브로 주변에서 쉽게 접할 수 있는 친근한 소재를 활용한 무늬였다. 반대로 친근하지 않은 소재나 이해하기 어려운 단독무늬는 선호하지 않는 것으로 조사되었다. 둘째, 단독무늬에 대한 감성은 성격유형에 따라 다르게 나타났다. 외향형인 학생들은 감성에 대해 극적으로 대답하는 반면, 내향형인 학생들은 중간값에 가깝게 대답하는 성향이 강하게 나타났고, 감각형/직관형에서의 감성차이는 모든 단독무늬에서 직관형 학생들의 선호도가 높게 나타났다. 사고형/감성형에서 나타난 특징은 특정감성이 두 성격유형 모두에서 높게 나타난 경우 항상 사고형 학생집단에서 더 높게 평가하고 있다는 것이다. 판단형/인식형에서는 감성에 따라 의미있는 차이가 가장 많이 나타난 것이 특징이다. 이 결과는 단독무늬에서 느끼는 감성차이가 판단형과 인식형에서 가장 크다는 것을 의미한다.

The Effects of Fashion Innovativeness and National Identity on Korean Image Clothing Preferences (유행혁신성과 민족정체성에 따른 한국적 이미지의 의복 선호)

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of fashion innovativeness and national identity on Korean clothing benefits sought, style preferences, and purchase intention. The subjects were 765 male and female consumers who were residents in Seoul. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, Scheffe test, and chi-square test. The results were as follows. There were five Korean clothing benefits sought: impression improvement/fashion orientation, national pride, individuality, brand, and comfort. Korean style preferences had four factors of daring/showy, active/simple, elegant, and sophisticated images. The subjects were categorized into three groups by fashion innovativeness and national indentity. The three groups were different in regard to Korean clothing benefits sought, Korean style preferences, and purchase intention. For example, the consumers who had a high fashion innovativeness sought benefits of impression improvement, individuality, and brand name. Also, they preferred daring/showy, elegant, and sophisticated images. In the meanwhile the consumers who had a high national identity sought benefits of national pride, comfort, and impression improvement. Also, they preferred an active/simple style and had an intention to purchase the clothing with Korean image.

  • The research analyzed the clothing attitude which it follows in type of performance musical instrument and a design preference moral difference. The result which tries to observe the clothing attitude which it follows in type of performance musical instrument and a design preference moral difference, it was visible a difference little by little. When comparison it tries the design which it prefers but consequently most in type of performance musical instrument, the big difference is not born and not to be putting the difference of the preference design which it follows in type of musical instrument specific your neck line, color, and silhouette of the vocal musician or wind music performer. When seeing whole, the clothing attitude regarding a performance luck compared to considered seriously an aesthetic pursuit and a convenient characteristic and harmonious, there design preference is the clothes which have no sleeve, neckline like camisole, black and pastel color, design with lots of decorations, princess silhouette, and they prefer the fabrics which have softness to it. Now, I want to introduce restriction of this research and proposal. First, the fundamental research of performance's clothes is insufficient with restricted point and the literature investigation is difficult, second, it was difficult to stretch the whole market for performers because of limitation for research volunteers. Only few volunteers are from college who are majoring in music.

A Research on the Preference to Textiles for Shirts of College Students (대학생의 셔츠용 소재에 대한 선호도 조사연구)

  • This research was designed to investigate the preference to textiles for shirts of college students. 105 subjects majored in fashion design were surveyed and SPSS WIN 11.0 program was used for statistical analysis. The results of this study were as follows: 1. Design was the primary factor in purchasing a clothing and college students considered color and texture as important factors for clothing materials. 2. There were significant differences in preference to textiles for winter shirts, especially grade and resident area. 3. College students preferred plain wool two and two check foremost as a textile for spring and fall. 4. Plain cotton poplin was the most preferred material for summer. 5. Twill cotton drill was the most preferred textile for winter. 6. Textiles for winter were thicker and heavier than others and natural fiber were preferred such as cotton and wool. 7. Plain weave was preferred for spring. fall and summer, and twill weave for winter. 8. College students preferred plain texture foremost and blue shaded light color was preferred for spring. fall and summer and brown shaded dark color was for winter.

A Study on the Image Perception and Preferences of the Color of Male′s Jacket, Shirt, and Necktie (남성의 재킷, 와이셔츠, 넥타이 색의 이미지 지각과 선호도 연구)

  • The objectives of this study were to investigate the effect of the color of jacket. dress shirt, necktie. and perceiver's gender on image perceptions of male, and to examine how clothing color preferences varies according to perceiver's gender and age. The stimuli of 8 pictures of male and the semantic differential scale were used to evaluate image perception. Subjects were 192 males and females in Seoul. The colors of jacket gave significant influences on perception of potency. elegance, preference, and manliness. The colors of dress shirt gave a significant influence on perception of manliness, the necktie's colors gave influences on elegance and visibility. Perceiver's gender did not give significant influences on the image perception. Visibility had an interaction effect by the colors of jacket and dress shirt. Potency and preference evaluation had interaction effects by the colors of jacket. dress shirt. and necktie. White dress shirt had positive effects on the perception of potency and preference in the case of matching with dark blue jacket and red necktie, and blue shirt had a positive effect on the perception of potency and preference in matching with dark blue jacket and blue necktie. The preference of dark grey suit and black shirt showed significant differences according to gender. Dark blue suit, white shirt, and blue shirt had significant differences according to the age group.

A Study on Characteristics of Chinese Consumer Type & Fashion Consumption according to G sensibility (G감성척도에 의한 중국소비자 유형특성 및 패션소비 연구)

  • This study aims to investigate the characteristics of Chinese consumers, who are growing up as the global biggest consumption market, according to G sensibility types, and to provide the data base for China market by analyzing the consuming pattern per sensibility and the preferred color. For the investigation, the survey on G sensibility and consuming pattern was conducted for consumers in four cities of China. As a result of classification of G sensibility types, it was found that Chinese consumers tended to behave in accordance with their values and identities and the most general type in them was G1 pursuing the reasonable and logical consumption, unlike Korean consumers who tended to be shown as G3 for the most general type according to the preceding study. As to characteristic of consumption, Chinese consumers preferred to purchase clothes from the department store, and in case of G2 type, the characteristics was corresponded with Actionist's character which shows the wide range of behavior and high-consumption, by preferring the road-shop next to the department store. Chinese consumers tended to purchase the clothes on the basis of their preferred colors, and especially it was shown that achromatic color was very commonly preferred. Also the black color was on the highest preference, and white, dark gray and light gray were followed. Meanwhile, in chromatic color, it was found that brown, orange, red and blue were preferred in order, and in case of G4, it was found that they preferred more various colors compared to the other types. This result could be used as the data base for the marketing strategy of fashion design industry and the related companies, as well as the new communication method for the consumers.
