  • Airborne particulate matter (APM) is increasingly recognized that it has adverse impacts on environment and human public health. As plants can have a potential to reduce APM significantly by its deposition on leaves, considerable efforts has been made to use them as a biofilter. However, APM accumulation on plants can induce physiological and morphological alterations in plants. The present review aimed to synthesize the methods and results of the recent relevant research on interactions between plants and APM, especially from an ecological perspective, and briefly took into account the current status in Korea on this actively increasing research area.

  • This study conducted a questionnaire survey using the Google questionnaire on 285 college students over 20 years old who attended universities in Chungnam to investigate the personal quarantine attitude of college students according to COVID-19. As a result, the attitude of washing hands, coughing etiquette, wearing a mask, and keeping distance under running water for more than 30 seconds scored high. However, when the mask was removed, the method of storing the mask or disinfecting surrounding objects such as desks at school was insufficient. Therefore, the attitude of personal quarantine should be more emphasized in the national quarantine system as a basic policy for preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the future and ending the virus.

  • The purpose of the aviation physical examination guideline is not only to determine the physical fitness of the aviation workers but also to treat the underlying diseases of the aviation employees effectively and to carry out the optimal aviation duties. As medical science advances, treatment guidelines for various diseases are rapidly changing, and aviation physical examination guidelines need to be revised accordingly. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the change trends of the AME guideline around the world and appropriately reflect it according to the situation of Korea. It is also necessary to continue the training of AME who are required to carry out examinations and certificates by these revision guidelines. Therefore, it would be desirable to analyze the education system of the advanced countries including the US and introduce the advantages of these systems into Korean AME education curriculum. Primarily, with the development of the Internet, various online lectures have been developed recently. Therefore, we first aimed to look at the changes in the current AME guideline of the Federal Aviation Administration. Next, we aimed to discuss changes in the course of the AME refresher course. Finally, we would like to suggest some points to be improved by comparing these AME guidelines and educational programs with those of Korea.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore an effective learning process by applying PBL to the subject of welfare theory for the disabled. To this end, 'Welfare Measures for the Severely Disabled in the Situation of COVID-19' was conducted as a class on the welfare of the disabled. A total of 20 students participated in the PBL class, and data were collected and analyzed through individual learning activities, group learning activities, evaluation papers, and reflection journals. The analysis results showed the effectiveness of the PBL class in the learners' problem-solving ability, self-directed learning ability, critical thinking ability, and cooperative learning ability. Based on the results of this study, a method for applying problem-focused learning (PBL) to social welfare subjects was suggested.

  • This study aim to investigate the effects of virtual reality (VR) intervention on stress reduction and relaxation after induced pain through capsaicin skin application for healthy college students. The control group (n=6) was to non-treatment after capsaicin-induced pain, and the experimental group (n=8) was to application VR intervention after capsaicin-induced pain. The effect was measured using VAS, EEG, HRV and as a results, the experimental group was more effective in regressing to baseline value (TO) than the control group. Therefore, VR intervention is considered to be an effective intervention for stress relief and relaxation.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of auricular acupressure with magnetic pellets on stress reduction after induced stress through a virtual reality and cognitive compression tasks for healthy college students. The control group (n=6) was to application auricular acupressure (sham), and the experimental group (n=8) was to application auricular acupressure with magnetic pellets. As a results, it was confirmed that the experimental group was more effective in regressing to baseline value (TO) than the control group in each measurement item (VAS, EEG, HRV). Therefore, auricular acupressure with magnetic pellets is considered to be an intervention method that can be applied easily and conveniently in various stress situations.
