  • This Study estimates the mean annual pricipitation of Korea. Precipitation data observed at the 60 Korea Meteorological Service stations during 84-year period(1905-1988) are used. Missing or unobserved values are estimated using regression analysis with principal componets, and the annual precipitation means obtatined by arithmetic, Thiessen and isobyetal methods are compared.

  • Non-working days affected by weather conditions of the construction-sites have been estimated without proper data. They are usually estimated based on project engineer's own experience and intuition. As a result, they cause not only economic loss to time-adjustment but also conflicts among project participants. It becomes more difficult to predict the weather nowadays than before due to tendency of recently weather change. Therefore, this paper presents an improved estimation method for non-working days, which could minimize estimation errors. The estimation method is developed based on analysis of regional characteristics and weather conditions which affect project duration.

  • A practical flood forecasting model(FFM) is suggested. The output of the model is the results which the initial condition of meteorological parameters and soil moisture are projected on the future. The physically based station model for rainfall forecasting(RF) and the storage function model for runoff prediction(RP) are adopted respectively. Input variables for FFM are air temperature, pressure, and dew-point temperature at the ground level and the flow at the rising limb(FRL). The constant parameters for FFM are average of optimum values which the past storm events have. Also loss rate of rainfall can predicted by FRL.

  • This study aims to examine the existing single rating index in terms of level reduction limit of heavy-weight floor impact sound. To achieve this goal, sounds which have same loudness according to rating methods were suggested to subjects. And followings are results. 1) The rating method of measurement frequency level average is more suitable than that of other methods which are dependent on specific frequency for rating heavy-weight floor impact sound. 2) Level average for measurement frequency of 31.5Hz - 500Hz is more correspondent to psycho-acoustic response than that of measurement frequency of 63Hz - 500Hz which is for KS F 2863-2, existing rating method.

  • To study distribution of bacterial flora and their biochemical characteristics in the Antarctic soilecosystem, these experiments were performed during the austral summer(Feb., 1989) on the King George Island, Antarctica. The numbers of heterotrophic bacterial colonies and extracellular enzyme actibities were estimated from the Antarctic terrestrial soils which were sampled from 17 different locations near Sejong station (Korea) and Teniente Jubany station (Argentina) on the King George Island. The numbers of heterotrophic bacterial colonies were extremely variable with sampling sites and incubation temperatures. Arithmetric average numbers were $2.5\times 10^{4}$, $2.7\times 10^{7}$ , $6.9\times 10^{5}$ CFU/$cm^{3}$ soil at the incubation temperature of $37^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$ and $4^{\circ}C$, respectively. The activities of extracellular $\alpha$-glucosidase, $\beta$-glucosidase and N-acetyl-$\beta$-glucosaminidase were shown as similar mean percentage in the colonies obtained at different temperatures. Mean value of protease activities, however, was remarkably higher (92%) in the colonies grown at $4^{\circ}C$,.

  • This is cross-sectional study to evaluate a potential relationship between air conduction hearing threshold and blood viscosity in normal adult males(n=1677). We measured hearing threshold in frequency level at 500, 1000, 2000, 4000Hz by pure-tone audiometry and RBC profiles containing red cell number, hemoglobin, hematocrit. Blood viscosity are replaced by hematocrit that are one major factor of influencing blood viscosity. PTAs(pure-tone averages) are measured by hearing threshold averages level at 500Hz, 1000Hz, 2000Hz. Grades of PTAs(pure-tone averages) are divided three groups that are less then 10.0dB group, between 10.0-19.9dB group and excess 20.0dB. The results shows significant association among hematocrit, red cell number and hearing loss(age adjust by ANACOVA).

  • Melt blends of polymide 6(PA6) and polypropylene grafted maleic anhydride(PP-g-MA) were prepared to study the influence of chemical reaction between the two polymer components. The tensile, flexural, izod impact, dynamic mechanical properties and phase structure were investigated for this blend system. Tensile strength and modulus of the blends showed synergetic effect upon blending of two polymer components. Flexural properties maintained the value of numerical mean calculated from the weight ratio of two components. Also, notched izod impact strengths showed maximum in th PA6/PP-g-MA 50/50 wt % blend. From the change of tan ${\delta}$ observed, we confirmed the increase of miscibility in this blend system by chemical reaction between PA6 and PP-g-MA. Blends of good impact resistance could be obtained when the PP-g-MA particles of $2{\mu}m$ was dispersed in the PA6 matrix.

  • In this paper, to propose a classifier based on supervised learning, three types of fuzzy membership functions that determine the membership of each feature of classification data are proposed. In addition, the possibility of improving the classifier performance was suggested by using the average value calculation method used in the process of deriving the classification result using the average value of the membership degrees for each feature, not by using a simple arithmetic average, but by using a weighted average using various weights. To experiment with the proposed methods, three standard data sets were used: Iris, Ecoli, and Yeast. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that evenly excellent classification performance can be obtained for data sets of different characteristics. It was confirmed that better classification performance is possible through improvement of fuzzy membership functions and the weighted average methods.
