Significance and Limitation of the Guiding Principles for the Preparation of Nominations Concerning Sites of Memory Associated with Recent Conflicts (최근 갈등과 관련된 기억유산의 등재 준비를 위한 지침원칙의 의의와 한계)

  • Since the adoption of the World Heritage Convention, sites associated with dark histories have been inscribed as World Heritage sites over the past fifty years. However, in 2018, the review of nomination dossiers for these sites was temporarily suspended to prevent additional discomfort or the conflicts these inscriptions might cause. Despite concerns raised by experts about nominations of these sites, the increasing demands from State Parties led to the adoption of the Guiding Principles for the Preparation of Nominations Concerning Sites of Memory Associated with Recent Conflicts. These Guiding Principles have made it possible to inscribe such sites as World Heritage sites. The Guiding Principles play a crucial role in outlining the nature and criteria for inscription, the components required in the nomination dossier, and mechanisms for notifying a contestation in cases of differing interpretations of the site. Their primary aim is to minimize further conflicts that may arise from the inscription of sites of memory. They affirm that such sites can contribute to achieving the objectives of the World Heritage Convention and represent a significant step in addressing heritage interpretation in the World Heritage system. The amendment of the Operational Guidelines to incorporate a contestation mechanism has arguably established a more transparent and open inscription process. However, the Guiding Principles also have limitations. Among the ten criteria set by the World Heritage Convention, sites related to conflicts or dark histories can use Criterion (vi). This criterion focuses on the site's outstanding universal value linked to historical events or associations, regardless of physical evidence. If a State Party chooses not to use Criterion (vi), the application of the Guiding Principles cannot be expected. Furthermore, while the Guiding Principles require a heritage interpretation strategy in the nomination dossier, the lack of detailed guidance may confuse nominating countries. Sites of memory associated with recent conflicts are not just places that need protection and remembrance due to their association with dark histories. They have also evolved to become spaces for reconciliation and healing. The inscription of these sites as World Heritage sites is not just a recognition of their historical significance, but also a platform for discussing the impact of past conflicts on modern society. It opens up a dialogue on how current generations can address these issues. With the adoption of the Guiding Principles, we hope that inscribed sites will not only promote reconciliation and healing but also serve as a starting point for addressing present and future challenges.

  • This review article summarizes the trends and issues around the mobility business and government regulations in Korea. Key issues identified involve unclear government regulations, conflict management between key stakeholders, platform labor, and regional conflicts. The study then offers an overview of the current government regulations on the mobility business and conflict management, along with some policy recommendations in the areas of linking conflict resolution efforts with the welfare safety net, and corporates' social responsibility for the sustainable ecosystem. Ultimately, an ecosystem is required for multiple ministries and stakeholders to participate in the process of improving the regulations, as well as a control tower (government agency) who plays the pivotal role as a coordinator.

Depression in the Elderly for the Mediating Effect of Coping Strategies of Family Conflict (노인의 우울에 대한 가족갈등대처방식의 매개효과 연구)

  • This study uses fourth primary sources of Korea Welfare Panel to study correlation between the major stressors that affect the elderly and how the major stressors affect the depression of the elderly with family conflict coping method as the mediation. The subjects included in the analysis of 3890 people 65 and older population people men 1,559 people, women 2,331 people. The key variables for the analysis were satisfaction rate of family relations, economic and living standards, health conditions, and family conflict coping method. And as the analysis methods, T-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were used. The result of the analysis showed that elders who are women, single household, unemployed, more than 75 years of age and have no religion or spouse have significantly higher depression level. Finally, family conflict coping strategies was found to be affecting the process of the major independent variables affecting the elderly depression as the partial mediator.

The Gender Differences in the Effects of Work-Family Conflict on the Life Satisfaction and Job Attitudes (직장-가정간 갈등이 삶의 만족 및 직무 태도에 미치는 효과에 있어서의 성차: 우리나라 관리직 공무원들을 대상으로)

  • Based on the gender role perspective, this study explored the differential effects of work-family conflict(WFC) on the life satisfaction and job attitudes(job satisfaction and involvement) between men and women by analysing the data collected from about 240 married government officers including both sex. The results showed that both men and women had the higher level of WIF(work interfering family) than that of FIW(family interfering work), and that FIW of women was higher than that of men. The results also showed that WFC(WIF and FIW) had differential effects on the life satisfaction and job attitudes between men and women. Specifically, WFC of women had significant negative effect on the life satisfaction and the job involvement, However WFC of men had no significant effects on them.

In order to challenge the change of economy and its management at home and abroad, organization should be changed anew, and in this case, there accompanies conflict or trouble whether the subject of change wants it or not. Therefore, according to change, we should concern with settlement of small troubles as well as big ones, and by managing the conflict or trouble productively and originally, it should be utilized as new fatality and chance to develop something in organization. In the system organized by people, there exist various conflicts in accordance with the target and want of the system, therefore giving no freedom to each Individual member of the system, and this is an unavoidable tate in consideration of the modem society where the survival of mankind and human systems should be guaranteed. Therefore, it determines the coordinates of success of any of organizations to manage conflict or trouble well, and so, when decreasing or increasing conflicts so that the organization exerts its full influence, it is note worthy that conflict itself should be rationally and efficiently managed. In a view point of the theory of organization and its behavior, relating job satisfaction with the performance and validity of organization, the influence of individual conflict is so great on the rate of job transfer within an organization or nonattendance, even on the productivity of the organization. So, the manager to cope with conflict within an organization should devise following three plans to manage conflict for job satisfaction and conflict settlement. In conclusion, it is suggested that in order to manage conflict within an organization well, some plans to control conflict should be well utilized while giving more efforts to improving management of individual conflict, job satisfaction, validity of organization, productivity, etc and all the members of organization should remember that the Issue of conflict within an organization be recognized ad an opportunity of new development and a way to settle a trouble within an organization, and a direction of conflict management should be suggested so that new innovation ca be created.
