  • Due to the recent surge in natural disasters, with rising social concerns, investment on research & development (R&D) project in natural disaster mitigation area is continuously increasing. However, current R&D performance management system of natural disaster mitigation area does not properly reflect characteristics and social ripple effects of R&D projects. It is indicated that mainly due to the current performance index consists of easy-quantification factors and the performance evaluation system adopts simple aggregation method. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop new performance evaluation system considering characteristics and social ripple effects of natural disaster mitigation R&D projects. To this ends, this study derived 3-dimensional performance measurement index through literature review and natural disaster mitigation R&D projects analysis. Finally, based on the derived performance measurement index, this study suggested new and effective performance evaluation system for natural disaster mitigation R&D projects.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate which factors affect working women's intention of second childbirth and what paths that determine this intention exist. Especially, this study focused on the influence of 'values regarding children' on intention of second childbirth of working women, and divided 'values regarding children' into 'individualistic value regarding children'and 'group-oriented value regarding children'. Findings from this study are as follows. First, the research model of this study was appropriate to explain the intention of second childbirth in working women with a child by measurement model analysis and structural model analysis. Second, it appeared that the factor which directly determined the intention of second childbirth in working women with a child was 'values regarding children', and the impact of 'individualistic values regarding children' was stronger than that of 'group-oriented values regarding children'between the two. Third, 'Economic resource'factor and 'service'factor affected 'intention of second childbirth' indirectly through other factors. Fourth, the level of public and private service resources for reconciling work and family life is affected by the level of economic resources. Finally, it appeared that 'values regarding children' could be formed or changed by working women's environmental condition like public and private service resources to support reconciling work and family life. Based on these findings, this study proposed that it should be important to form values regarding children positively by improving environmental condition for reconciling work and family life to increase childbirth intention of working women.

  • In order to investigate the factors influencing QOL and life satisfaction of the physically disabled, the author interviewed, by using structuralized questionnaire, 440 individuals among the physically disabled who were participated in Health Examination from April to July, 1997. The questionnaire consisted of the general characteristics(sex, age, marital status, family number, etc), the Reintegration to Normal Living Index(RNLI) to assess QOL, and the single item of five-likert scale to evaluate life satifaction. The means of RNLI were $16.2{\pm}4.8$ in total score, $12.2{\pm}3.4$ in daily functioning and $4.0{\pm}2.1$ in perception of self. The respondents were less reintegrated toward social activities and relationships than impairments or disabilities. While the satisfied group was 47.3%, the dissatisfied group was 52.7%. As the results of multiple regression and logistic regression analysis, the significant predictors of QOL were age, education, job, grade of disability and subjective health status. The life satisfaction were related to economic status, job and subjective health status. To improve QOL and life satisfaction of the physically disabled, it is important that we improve their basic socioeconomic status by getting a job through rehabilitation education and induce them to have positive self-assessment by extending the opportunity of social participation.

  • This study aims to address the effect of income on depression of Korean babyboomers according to gender. It also was to identify the moderating effect of social capital on the income-depression relationship. Researchers conducted a secondary data analysis using 6th wave of Korea longitudinal study of ageing collected in 2016. Researchers found gender differences of factors affecting depression. While, in the male model, income was not a significant factor predicting depression, it was a statistically significant factor to depression of female babyboomers. In addition, a moderating effect was found in the female model that advocacy and non governmental organization activity moderated the income-depression relationship. Therefore, it is necessary to consider gender differences for policy and service development; in specific, researchers suggest expanding elderly jobs for female babyboomers and support groups for male babyboomers.

  • Unlike the era of manufacturing-oriented industrial economy in the past, the era of service economy has characteristics intangible goods center, knowledge universalization, and expansion of needs, and many things that are of the economy are changing. In the past, the change in the environment was not fast, so even after analyzing the changed environment and deriving the talent needed for the company, it was possible to maintain a talent for the organization for a long time, so it is not proactive to build and apply talent. It became difficult to manage effectively. Therefore, in this paper, we conducted a normative study for deriving a desirable talent model rather than a descriptive human resource model. Human resources image suitable for the modern service economy era, the modern economic society and modern spirit were analyzed and reflected. A desirable talent in a modern organization must play the role of a manager, and the management and talent models in a modern organization can be said to be connected to each other like the front and back sides of a coin. The philosophy of human resources was presented in five dimensions: human, historical, social, economic, and management. The human resource model from eight factors: mastery, rationality, wisdom, customer orientation, innovation, flexibility, autonomy, collaboration. • This study compares the business performances and the socioeconomic and sociopsychological characteristics of franchisees and independent business owners (IBOs). On the basis of extant theoretical arguments and empirical evidences it was expected that franchisees are different from IBOs in these aspects because unlike IBOs they are using franchising as their way of businesses and should satisfy the requirements imposed by franchisors. Analyzed in the current study was a national survey database of 424 franchisees and 5,690 IBOs compiled by the Small Enterprise Development Agency in 2011. As expected, it was found that franchisees were significantly different from IBOs in such traits as financial and managerial capabilities, business experiences, demographic and socio-psychological characteristics, information searching efforts, business performances, and their perceptions of business obstacles. It was also found that the effects of these traits on business performances were quite different between franchisees and IBOs. The findings of the current study provide some meaningful suggestions for government agencies. Given that franchises and IBOs have different traits, their demands for governmental policy should be different, and consequently, it might be argued that government agencies should treat the two groups separately and should increase their efforts to develop appropriate supporting policies for each group. With respect to franchisor's practices for franchisee selection, it is also argued that in order to enhance franchisee performances franchisors need to examine thoroughly the traits of prospect franchisees. This study concludes with discussion of several theoretical and methodological limitations for future research.
