Rock joint survey consists of measurement of orientation and face mapping for trace informations. We have developed a new alternative approach called rock joint survey system by stereophotogrammetry and image processing to replace the conventional manual method. For the measurement of orientations and face mapping, we applied a stereophotogrammetry and developed two hybrid approaches using image processing techniques, respectively. These methods have advantages in making it possible to measure the orientations of joints and perform face mapping rapidly and objectively in unaccessible and dangerous areas.

As the utilization of aerial images increases, a variety of software using unmanned aerial photogrammetric procedures as well as traditional aerial photogrammetric procedures are being provided. Previously, software that used the unmanned aerial photogrammetric procedure was used for images captured in small areas. Recently, however, software that uses unmanned aerial photogrammetric procedures for large-scale images taken by using aerial photogrammetric cameras has appeared. Therefore, this study generated ortho-images using aerial photogrammetry and unmanned aerial photogrammetry for large aerial images, and compared the features of both procedures through qualitative and quantitative comparisons. Experiments in the study area show that using the 3D mesh effectively removes the relief displacement of the building rather than using the digital surface model to generate ortho-images.

Digital close-range photogrammetric technique can measure and describe 3D geometric form from 2D image. This technique is a growing applicability in the field of sciences. Nevertheless, civil and mechanical field, which need measurements as precise as possible, use expensive measuring instruments in general. In addition there are occasions for analysis by means of visual method, since appropriate measuring instruments have been not yet available. This study therefore developed digital close-range photogrammetric technique with a movable orientation board to quickly measure deformation before and after destruction from simulated ground model of reinforced-soil wall. Then the results are compared with the measurements obtained using digital theodolite.

As data acquisition using unmanned aerial vehicles is widely used, as one of the ways to increase the accuracy of photogrammetry using unmanned aerial vehicles, a method of inputting both vertical and oblique images in bundle adjustment of aerial triangulation has been proposed. In this study, in order to find a suitable method for increasing the accuracy of photogrammetry, the accuracy of the case of adjusting the oblique images taken at different shooting angles and the case of adjusting the oblique images with different shooting angles at the same time with the vertical images were compared. As a result of the study, it was found that the error of the checkpoint decreases as the angle of the input oblique images increases. In particular, when the vertical images and oblique images are used together, the height error decreases significantly as the angle of the oblique images increases. The current 『Aerial Photogrammetry Work Regulation』 requires RMSE (Root Mean Square Error), which is the same as GSD (Ground Spatial Distance) of a vertical image. When using an oblique images with a shooting angle of 50°, a result close to this standard is obtained. If the vertical images and the 50° oblique images were adjusted at the same time, the work regulations could be satisfied. Using the results of this study, it is expected that photogrammetry using low-cost cameras mounted on unmanned aerial vehicles will become more active.

One of the often espoused merits of close-range photogrammetry is the effectiveness of the method for measuring non-accessible objects of unusual and complex shape. In this study, techniques of deformation measurement using close-range photogrammetry for electric power structures were developed. Absolute deformation could be found efficiently through close-range photogrammetry in the structure deformation analysis based on time variation. Also, feasibility of the structures management system was presented based on this study.

Nowadays the considerable improvements, not only in photogrammetric equipment but also in adjustment methods have led to a high accuracy of Aerial Triangulation and reach the step to obtain A.T. technique that uses Global Position System without ground control survery. The enterance of analytical plotter have made considerable development both in accuracy and in efficiency and improved working environment of A.T. by the combination of On-Line Analytical Plotting System. In this paper, in A.T., with using of analytical polotter, aims to improve the acccuracy in coordinates determination of low level control point. The result shows that in case of A.T. with analytical plotter AVIOLYT BC2, the accuracy of control points improves to 7% in planimetry and to 40% in height compared to A.T. with precision plotter Autograph A-8.

GPS photogrammetry or the GPS/INS photogrammetry, which are based on the direct measurement of the projection centers and attitude at the moment of camera exposure time through loading the GPS receiver or INS in aircraft. Both photogrammetric methods can offer us to acquire the exterior orientation parameters with only minimum ground control points, even the ground control process could be completely skipped. Consequently, we can drastically reduce the time and cost for the mapping process. In this thesis, test flight was conducted in Suwon area to evaluate the performance of accuracy and efficiency through the analysis of results among the three photogrammetric methods, that is, traditional photogrammetry, GPS photogrammetry and GPS/INS photogrammetry. Test results shows that a large variety of advantages of GPS photogrammetry and GPS/INS photogrammetry against traditional photogrammetry is to be verified. Especially, the number of ground control points for the exterior orientation could be saved more than 70~80%, respectively.

This paper demonstrates the performance of industrial precise measurement using the digital close-range photograrmmetric system based on a off-the-shelf CCTV-type CCD camera. The system was constructed with a CCD camera and a PC with a frame grabber, coupled with digital image mensuration and self-calibrating bundle adjustment techniques. An artificial fish reef with cubic shape was taken as an object for the application test of the system and the digital images were acquired on multi-station convergent network around the object. The geometric calibration of the CCD camera and the phototriangulation of the entire surface of the object was carried out simultaneously by means of self-calibrating bundle adjustment technique. Also the system comprising a high resolution still-video camera Kodak DCS, which high accuracy potential has been already established, were employed in similar network condition. Then the results from two different camera systems were compared in the accuracies of phototriangulation.

Owing to the rapid development of computer system and the introduction of image processing technique, recent photogrammetric studies have been concentrated on the automation of photogrammetric orientation work that have been carried out by skilled professionals in analog and/or analytical pbotogrammetric field. To automate the whole photogrammetric work, the automation of the orientation processes including interior, relative and absolute orientation should be preceded. This study aims to automate interior orientation and relative orientation process. For this purpose, we applied Hough transform to interior orientation process and object space matching technique to relative orientation process. As the result of this study, we can present a method to automate interior and relative orientation process that has been semi-automatically operated in most commercial digital photogrammetric workstations currently available.

Lately, with the development of the fields of computer and photogrammetry, Digital Photogrammetric Systems are widely used for the generation of GIS basemap, the acquisition of topographic information and DEM, the formation of digital orthophoto, three-dimensional viewing and so on. According as the demand for the systems is rapidly increasing, we suggest keenly the necessity of domestic technical development, because all of these systems depend on foreign technology until now. In this study, by using digital photogrammetry method, with Visual C++ language, we have developed Digital Photogrammetric Systems for Windows which is able to get three-dimensional coordinates through interior orientation, exterior orientation, epipolar line, image matching from a pair of aerial photos taken with metric camera. This system consists of not only a module which can revise digital map that is being made at National Geographic Institute as a part of data construction project of National Geographic Information System, but also a module which can view three-dimensional image on the screen monitor by using anaglyph for three-dimensional analysis. The digital photogrammetry modules developed in this study are expected to be used as primary modules for the effective management of the urban as well as main modules in developing professional digital photogrammetric systems.
