A study for effective collaboration for user experience design (사용자 경험 디자인을 위한 효율적인 협업 프로세스 방안에 관한 연구 - 사용성 테스트를 중심으로 -)

  • 사용자 중심의 디자인 패러다임이 도래하면서 점차 사용성 진단이 제품 혹은 서비스의 전체 개발 프로세스 상에서 필수적인 절차이며 이를 통해 사용자의 경험 품질 향상을 모색할 수 있다는 인식이 확산되고 있다. 실제로도 제품 개발 과정의 한 꼭지로서 사용자 리서치를 수행하는 기업이 점차 증가되고 있지만, 리서치를 통해 도출된 결과가 실제 제품 개발에 얼마나 효과적으로 반영되는지에 대해서는 의문을 가지게 된다. 이러한 의문을 품게 된 이유는 사용자 리서치 결과가 실제 제품이나 서비스에 적용된 정도가 크지 않은 경우를 종종 목격하였기 때문이다. 이러한 주요 원인 중 하나로서 리서치 결과가 실무 담당자들에게 전달되는 과정에서 발생될 수 있는 해석 상의 차이 때문일 것이라는 가설을 가지고 사용성 진단 리서치 프로세스의 변화를 시도해 보았다. 다시 말하면, 실제 현장에서 단기간 동안 진행되는 사용자 리서치를 통해 보다 효과적으로 그 결과를 활용할 수 있는 방안으로 리서치 진행자와 실무 담당자간 협업 프로세스 작업 단계인 협업 디자인 워크샵(co-designing workshop)을 제안하였다. 본 연구는 협업 디자인 워크샵 프로세스의 소개를 목적으로 하였으며, 본 연구의 결과가 사용성 진단 리서치 결과의 활용도 및 가치를 향상시키고, 사용자의 입장을 대변하는 리서처의 책임과 역할을 충실히 수행하는데 도움이 될 수 있기를 기대한다.

Folder Recommendation Based on User Knowledge (사용자 지식을 반영한 메일 폴더 추천 방법론)

  • By the development of the network technology, the types and amount of information that users keep in contact with have been dramatically increased. As a result, users are consuming a lot of time and energy to find needed information. On this, this article presents a new methodology that can efficiently manage their information within small cost by using content-based recommendation method and keyword affinity method. By using keyword affinity method, this methodology solves the content-based recommendation method's weak point that the performance is not good within the environment that the preferences of users are rapidly changing and new contents are created continuously and the accuracy level is low until the information of preferences are sufficiently gathered. This article carried out research on the personal e-mail environment where new information is frequently created and disappeared. Also this article assists folder recommendation for the efficient management of e-mail and verified the methodology mentioned above by an experiment to compare the performance of existing folder recommendation methods with the performance of this new method.

Effects of Interactivity and Usage Mode on User Experience in Chatbot Interface (챗봇 기반 인터페이스의 상호작용성과 사용 모드가 사용자 경험에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examines how interactivity and usage mode of a chatbot interface affects user experience. Chatbot has rapidly been commercialized in accordance with improvements in artificial intelligence and natural language processing. However, most of the researches have focused on the technical aspect to improve the performance of chatbots, and it is necessary to study user experience on a chatbot interface. In this article, we investigated how 'interactivity' of an interface and the 'usage mode' referring to situations of a user affect the satisfaction, flow, and perceived usefulness of a chatbot for exploring user experience. As the result, first, the higher level of interactivity, the higher user experience. Second, usage mode showed interaction effect with interactivity on flow, although it didn't show the main effect. In specific, when interactivity is high in usage mode, flow was the highest rather than other conditions. Thus, for designing better chatbot interfaces, it should be considered to increase the degree of interactivity, and for users to achieve a goal easily through various functions with high interactivity.

  • This study aimed to gain valuable insights into the performance and user satisfaction of applications (apps) through a thorough analysis of Instagram user reviews collected from Google Play. The study utilized text mining and sentiment analysis techniques and systematically identified emotions and opinions embedded in user reviews to deeply understand the areas of improvement and user experiences of the app. It analyzes how Instagram reviews reflect the diverse experiences of users and how they reveal the strengths and weaknesses of the app. For this purpose, sentiment analysis using the naive Bayes algorithm was conducted, and the results were expected to aid in the improvement of Instagram's services. In addition, the study aimed to assist developers in better understanding and utilizing user feedback, ultimately contributing to enhanced user satisfaction. This study explored the complex relationship between social media usage patterns and user opinions by seeking ways to provide a better user experience through these insights.

Differences in Finding Smartphone Apps across User Types Categorized by App Icon Arrangement Style (스마트폰 사용자의 앱정리 유형에 따른 앱아이콘 탐색의 차이 연구 -아이폰 사용자 중심으로-)

  • In the mobile-first era, plenty of mobile apps have been created so that the number of apps owned in a smartphone have been increasing as well. However, users spend most of time with only a few apps and the rest of apps are just kept in their smartphones for future usage. Thus, in order to help users find the apps quickly it is important to study how users arrange apps in a mobile phone screen and find an app. In the literature, we extracted 5 user types to organize mobile apps. We further conducted user survey with 30 subjects and finalized major 3 user types categorized by relatedness(A), aesthetic(B), and external concepts(C). We found that most of subjects took less than 2 minutes when finding frequently-used-apps. However we identified difference in times taken to find a barely-used-apps across three user types; while A type users turns out to be the most effective in finding barely-used-apps, the B type uses tend to be the least effective among three types. For the A type users, an app's name is more important than an icon image because they tend to guess the functionality from the name of the app. The B type users use the color of app icon to find the app in the smartphone. For the C type users who tend to remain the original position of an app when first downloading it in the smartphone, the visibility of an app icon is important to catch users' eyes while they scan a page. The results of this study is expected to be useful for UX designers who improve the usability of app icon usage considering the user types.

  • In the era of M-ICT (mobile information communication technology), it is becoming more and more important to establish a city brand image that is "user-centered" and creates a new experience of "interaction between people, people and things, and people and space". The experience of city users on the brand image of a city is the key factor to determine the competitiveness of the city, among which the user's research on the touch point of the city brand is particularly important. The purpose of this study is to enhance the user's brand experience and enhance the city's brand competitiveness. The research methods of this paper are literature review and investigation. Firstly, the background and purpose of the study are expounded, then the characteristics and ways of user experience touch points are defined through the document review, and the multi-latitude composition model of city brand touch points is proposed. By means of user investigation, the structural characteristics of high frequency touch points between digital touch points and physical touch points are obtained. According to the problems found in the investigation, the optimal design strategy of touch point is put forward in combination with the case. The innovation of this study is to study the relationship between the city brand and the touch point of user experience from the perspective of user experience, and propose a multi-latitude model of the touch point of city brand.

A Study on the Forms of Graphical User Interface Metaphor in Multimedia Design (멀티미디어 디자인에서 사용자 인터페이스 그래픽 메타포 유형에 관한 연구)

  • Since the apple company adopted the desktop-office metaphor in Macintosh, the metaphoric interface has been used generally in multimedia products or services, on which user-friendly knowledge, conception, and images are represented metaphorically. Although the metaphor can be employed as one of ways to identify the essence or pattern of information, a theoretical framework on its relation with the user interface is not fully established. In this study, the user interface considered as a core of multimedia design was discussed, and the form of the graphic metaphor was investigated. The seven forms of the graphical metaphor presented herein would be applied as one of approaches to the user interface in relevant researches.

  • IPTV Service was launched with great expectation, but it is having difficulty due to the low number of subscribers and contents. In addition, the study of IPTV is still in its infancy and most of previous studies are only focused how IPTV is adopted and spread. In this study, we defined that resistance is the users not tend to accept IPTV service, and analyzed factors affecting resistance which are Innovative characteristics, User characteristics, Service characteristics and proposed implications for IPTV service vitalization. The results that relative advantage, complexity, attitude of an existing product, contents, cost, innovativeness have significant effects on resistance to IPTV.

  • As the online commerce market continues to expand with an increase of diverse products and content, users find it challenging in navigating and in the selection process. Thereafter both platforms and shopping malls are actively working in conducting continuous research on recommendations system to select and present products that align with user preferences. Most existing recommendation studies have relied on user data which is relatively easy to obtain. However, these studies only use a single type of event and their reliance on time dependent data results in issues with reliability and complexity. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a recommendation system that analysis user preferences in consideration of the relationship between various types of event data. The proposed recommendation system analyzes the correlation of multiple events, extracts weights, learns the recommendation model, and provides recommendation services through it. Through extensive experiments the performance of our system was compared with the previously studied algorithms. The results confirmed an improvement in both complexity and performance.

  • 기술혁신 시스템이 추격형에서 선도형으로의 변환과정에 대해서는 일부 개념적 모형이나 탐색적 연구가 개념적으로만 제시되었을 뿐 체계적이고 구체적으로 연구가 부족하다. 한국이나 대만 등 동아시아 국가들의 선진국 기술추격과 탈추격형 혁신시스템으로 진화에 대한 국제적인 관심과 연구가 크게 증가하고 있지만, 대부분의 기존 연구들은 거시적인 관점에서 국가 차원의 제도 및 정책, 산학연의 연구역량과 협력체계, 외국기술의 도입 및 활용 등을 기술추격의 성공요인으로 들고 있을 뿐, 미시적인 관점에서 탈추격형 기술개발 성과의 사업화 추진 전략과 방법, 지원정책에 대한 구체적인 대안을 제시하지는 못하였다(Lee & Lim, 2001; Hobday et al., 2004; Kim, 1997). 추격형에서 선도형으로의 변환과정에 초점을 맞추어 특히 그 중요성이 대두되고 있는 사용자들의 혁신 과정에서의 역할에 대해 사례연구를 통해 규명하고자 한다. 선도적 혁신에서 제품 및 공정상에서 사용자혁신의 패턴을 밝혀내면, 이를 위한 제도적 인프라를 구축할 수 있다. 궁극적으로 선도적 혁신을 위한 기술혁신시스템에서 사용자로서의 기업과 선도사용자인 고객의 역할이 중요해지고 있음을 반영하고, 이를 바탕으로 기술혁신정책의 패러다임 전환을 위한 시사점을 개진하고자 한다.
