VASI RTC of MCM-ERC32 Processor and It's Application to On-Board Time Management (MCM-ERC32 Processor 의 VASI RTC 기능 및 위성 고유 시간 운영에의 적용)

  • MCM-ERC32 는 우주 환경에서 동작하는 시스템에 사용할 목적으로 유럽에서 개발된 집약 프로세서 모듈이다. MCM (Multi Chip Module)은 크게 ERC32 single chip 과 VASI (Very Advanced Sparc Interface) 및 6MByte 의 SRAM, 32MByte 의 DRAM 으로 구성되어 있다. VASI 의 경우 각종 I/O 처리 및 timer 의 기능을 수행하며 특히 VASI RTC 의 경우 VASI cycle, slot 을 이용하여 다양한 형태의 timer 구현이 가능하다. Timer 의 경우 각종 태스크의 관리와 스케줄링에 사용되는 가장 기본적이며 매우 중요한 요소이다. 위성의 고유 시간 역시 timer 를 활용하여 설계하게 되는데 이 부분이 잘 구현 되어야 정확한 임무 수행 및 위성의 제어가 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 VASI RTC 의 구조와 기능에 대해 설명하고 이를 위성의 고유 시간 운영에 적용하는 방법에 대해 다루도록 하겠다.

Real-Time Estimation of Control Derivatives for Control Surface Fault Detection of UAV (실시간 조종미계수 추정에 의한 무인비행기 조종면 고장검출)

  • In case of an abnormal condition of control surface, the real-time estimation of aerodynamic derivatives are required for the reconfigurable control system to be flight for missions or return to the head office. The goal of this paper is to represent a technique of fault detection to the control surface as a base research to the fault tolerant control system for safety improvement of UAV. The real-time system identification for the fault detection to the control surface was applied with the recursive Fourier Transform and verified through the HILS and flight test. The failures of the control surface are detected by comparing the control derivatives in fault condition with the normal condition. As a result from the flight test, we have confirmed that the control derivatives of fault condition less than about 50% in the normal condition.

  • Because rotorcraft is unstable, it needs a stability system such as flybar. Recently, sensor technology has been developed, it uses a stability augmentation system to improve stability instead of flybar. To use of these rotorcraft which include stability augmentations system for unmanned system, flight control computer, include stability augmentations system function, must be required. In this paper, a reverse-engineering method of estimating Algorithm of Commercial Stability Augmentation System is proposed, the result is applied in the flight computer to make an unmanned rotorcraft system. Finally using a validated algorithm, it is possible to establish a system of unmanned automatic rotorcraft system.

A Design of Handling Quality Assessment Environment Based on FLIGHTLAB Model Using Legacy Simulator (레거시 시뮬레이터를 활용한 FLIGHTLAB 모델 기반의 조종성 평가 환경 설계 연구)

  • The handling quality simulator including high fidelity flight mechanics model is indispensable component to design and verify the flight control system. Korea Aerospace Industries, LTD. (KAI) has been performing LCH (Light Civil Helicopter) core technology development program regarding automatic flight control system (AFCS) software development. And KAI has been developing flight mechanics model using FLIGHTLAB to design and evaluate the AFCS flight control law. This paper presents the handling quality assessment environment development results through the combining FLIGHTLAB with a legacy simulator. And this paper details the FLIGHTLAB model, application development process and FLIGHTLAB interface design. The developed handling quality assessment environment has been demonstrated with the ADS-33E hover and pirouette MTE (Mission Task Element) maneuver simulation.

Conceptual Design of 6U Micro-Satellite System for Optical Images of 3 m GSD (3 m급 광학영상 촬영을 위한 6U 초소형위성 시스템 개념설계)

  • The purpose of this study was to present a conceptual design of the 6U micro-satellite system for optical image of 3 m GSD. An optical camera system with a payload of 3 m GSD image was designed and optimized. The optical system has a diameter of Ø78 mm, length 250 mm, and 1400 mm focal length. The requirement and constraints were configured for the 6U micro-satellite bus system with the payload. Satisfying the requirement and constraints, the subsystems of the 6U bus were designed such as attitude and orbit control, propulsion, command and data handling, electrical power, communication, structures and mechanisms, and thermal control subsystem. The mass budget, power budget, and communication link budget were also confirmed for the 6U micro-satellite comprising the optical payload and the subsystems of bus. To take optical images, a mission operation concept is proposed for the 6U micro-satellite in a low-Earth orbit. A constellation comprising many 6U micro-satellites studied in this paper, can provide with various data for reconnaissance and disaster tracking.

  • A liquid-monopropellant hydrazine thruster has several outstanding advantages such as relatively-simple structure, long/stable propellant storability, clean exhaust products, and so on. Therefore hydrazine thruster has such a wide application as orbit and attitude control system (ACS) for space vehicles. A hydrazine thruster with the medium-level thrust to be used in the ACS of space launch vehicles (SLV) has been developed, and its ground firing test result is presented in terms of thrust, impulse bit, temperature, and chamber pressure. It is verified through the performance test that the response and repeatability of thrust are very excellent, and the thrust efficiencies compared to its ideal requirement are larger than 93%.

  • In this study, a new fault tolerant controller based on a model following adaptive technique is applied to the reconfiguration mode of supersonic advanced trainer. The designed controller is applied to the flight control system of high performance aircraft. To verify the performance of the proposed controller, numerical simulations are executed using a non-realtime nonlinear verification tool.

  • Quadrotors relatively smaller and lighter than other aircraft have a disadvantage of being sensitive to the external disturbances. In order to solve this disadvantage, many studies have been conducted by various control techniques robust to disturbances. In this paper, CMGs (Control Moment Gyros) introducing relatively large control torque with an identical amount of electric powers are applied to cancel the external disturbances. Two CMGs are considered to control the attitude of quadrotors so that a multi-copter installed with two CMGs and four rotors are introduced for this work. Finally, to verify the control performance of the proposed system by the CMGs, a numerical simulation conducted in the given harsh environment.

  • This paper describes limitations and solutions of the existing processor-monitoring concept for a military supersonics aircraft Flight Control Computer (FLCC) equipped with modern architecture processor to perform the system integration test. Safecritical FLCC integration test, which requires automatic test for thousands of test cases and real-time input/output test condition generation, depends on the processor-monitoring device called Processor Interface (PI). The PI, which relies upon on the FLCC processor's external address and data-bus data, has some limitations due to multi-fetching capability of the modern sophisticated military processors, like C6000's VLIW (Very-Long Instruction Word) architecture and PowerPC's Superscalar architecture. Several techniques for limitations were developed and proper monitoring approach was presented for modem processor-adopted FLCC system integration test.

  • A nonlinear adaptive flight control system is proposed using a backstepping controller with neural network controller. The backstepping controller is used to stabilize all state variables simultaneously without the two-timescale assumption that separates the fast dynamics, involving the angular rates of the aircraft, from the slow dynamics which includes angle of attack, sideslip angle, and bank angle. It is assumed that the aerodynamic coefficients include uncertainty, and an adaptive controller based on neural networks is used to compensate for the effect of the aerodynamic modeling error. It is shown by the Lyapunov stability theorem that the tracking errors and the weights of neural networks exponentially converge to a compact set. Finally, nonlinear six-degree-of-freedom simulation results for an F-16 aircraft model are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control law.
