  • 대기중에 존재하는 미량의 극성 유기화합물들은 비극성 유기화합물 보다는 반응성이 크고 불안정하므로 이를 채취하여 분석하는 과정이 매우 어려운 실정이다. 일반적으로 sampling에 자주 사용되는 stainless steel로 특수 내면처리 시킨 canister를 이용하였으나 이 방법에 의한 시료 채취방법은 고가의 비용이 소요되며, 반응성이 큰 VOC의 경우에는 성분에 따라 안정도가 낮은 경우도 많다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 대기 시료를 bag 이나 캐니스터와 같은 용기로서 채취하여 측정할 경우 극성 VOC 성분이 얼마나 안정하게 유지될수 있는지를 조사하고저 하였다.   • Polar and non-polar GaN was grown by the HVPE on various substrates and influence of polarity has been investigated. The $10\;{\mu}m$ thickness GaN were grown by HVPE is along A-plane ($11{\bar{2}}0$), C-plane (0001) and M-Plane ($10{\bar{1}}0$) sapphire substrate respectively. Surface properties were observed by optical microscope and atomic force microscopy. High resolution X-ray diffraction (HR-XRD) confirms the wurtzite structure. The donor band exciton peak located at ${\sim}3.4\;eV$ and also located yellow luminescence peak at 2.2 eV. The polarity of the GaN film has a strong influence on the morphology and the optical properties.

Poly(vinyl alcohol) Membranes Containing Sulfonic Acid Groups for Direct Methanol Fuel Cell Application (설폰산기를 함유한 PVA막의 직접 메탄올 연료전지 응용)

  • Crosslinked PVA membranes were achieved by esterification between the hydroxyl groups of PVA and carboxyl group of sulfosuccinic acid (SSA). SSA containing sulfonic group was used as a chemical crosslinking agent as well as a donor of fixed anionic group ($-SO_3$H). The crosslinking density of membranes was controlled by SSA content and calculated using polar and non-polar solvent. The crosslinking density measured by using non-polar solvent such as xylene and benzene increases with SSA content. However, using the polar solvent such as water and methanol, the crosslinking density increases up to SSA content of 20 wt% and above the content decrease due to sulfonic acid groups. The crosslinked PVA membranes were studied in relation with water diffusion coefficient and mechanical property as well as proton conductivity and methanol permeability as a function of crosslinking density. These properties were all dependent on the effect of SSA content.

  • This study focuses on clarifying narrative strategy of the epilogue system of TV nature documentary. TV nature documentary epilogue system is different from making film. Because it has stories about production team's daily life and incidents while they make films in nature. Therefore, TV documentary epilogue system has distinctive narrative features comparing to the documentary itself. This study analyzes into the distinctive narrative features of TV documentary epilogue system. According to Frye, there are four types of narrative based on narrative structure. 'The tears of Antarctica' has achieved reconciliation between nature and human by it's narrative structure of comic romance and comic character. Therefore, comic romance's narrative features of TV documentary epilogue system overcomes tragic features of the documentary itself.

Fabrication of R-plane Sapphire wafer for Nonpolar a-plane GaN (비극성 a-GaN용 R-면 사파이어 기판의 제조)

  • We have studied on the slicing and polishing processes of R-plane sapphire wafers for the substrates of UHB nonpolar a-plane GaN LED. The fabrication conditions of the R-plane and c-plane wafers were influenced by the large anisotropic properties (mechanical properties) of the sapphire. The slicing process was more affected by the anisotropic properties of R-plane than the polishing process. When the slicing direction was $45^{\circ}$ to the a-flat, the slicing time was shorter and the quality of as-slicing wafers was better than the slicing direction of normal to the a-flat. The MRR(Material removal rate) of mechanical polishing processes such as lapping and DMP(Diamond mechanical polishing) did not show significant differences between the R-plane and c-plane. The MRR of the c-plane was about two times higher than that of R-planes at the CMP(Chemical mechanical polishing) process due to the formation of hydrolysis reaction layers on the surface of the c-plane.

  • The purpose of this study is to separate nitrocellulose from 175 mm ammunition propellant by environmentally responsible recovery method. Recovery of nitrocellulose from obsolete ammunition is much more desirable than destruction since it can be reused in the several purpose. In spite of durable demilitarization of obsolete ammunition, the current holding amount of obsolete ammunition is gradually increasing and accumulated. The existing demilitarization methods, such as incineration and priming are strictly restricted for the noise, dust, oscillation and air and soil pollution. This study is focused on the separation of nitrocellulose by environmentally responsible recovery method by the solubility difference of nitrocellulose in nonpolar solvent. The purity of an extracted nitrocellulose was analysed by IR and TLC method and was clarified as very high.

The Effects on Antimicrobial and Anticarcinogenic Activity of Momordica Charantia L. (메탄올로 추출한 여주 분획성분의 항균 및 항발암 효과)

  • This study was performed to determine the antimicrobial and anticarcinogenic activities of the Momordica charantia L. (MC) on several microorganisms and human cancer cell lines. In the paper disk test, its antimicrobial activity was increased in proportion to its concentration. Among the various solvent fractions of Momordica charantia L., the ethylether partition layer (MCMEE) showed the strongest antimicrobial activity. Also, the ethylacetate partition layer (MCMEA) and the butanol partition layer (MCMB) showed antimicrobial activity. We also determined the cytotoxicity and chemopreventive effect of Momordica charantia L. extract and fractions on human cancer cells. The experiment was conducted to determine the cytotoxicity of Momordica charantia L. partition layers on HepG2, HeLa and MCF-7 cells by MTT assay. Among the various partition layers of Momordica charantia L., MCMEE and MCMEA showed strong cytotoxic effects on all cancer cell lines. The chemopreventive effect of the quinone reductase induced activities of HepG2 cell, the hexane partition layer (MCMH) at a dose of 50 $\mu\textrm{g}$/mL was 3.62 times more effective compared with the control values of 1.0. Therefore, based on these studies, Momordica charantia L. may be developed into a potentially useful cancer chemopreventive agent.

Studies on the Production of Lipid by Microorganism (균체 지질 생산에 관한 연구)

  • A potential lipid producing strain of Penicillium sp. was isolated from natural source. Penicillium sp. was cultivated in an appropriate medium containing 6% of glucose as a corbon source, ammonium nitrate as a nitrogen source, C:N ratio 200, pH 4.0 for a period of 17 days at $35^{\circ}C$. Under the condition, the lipid content was 64.2% of dry cell weight. The total lipid produced was 13.7g/100g of glucose consumed. The proportion of nonpolar and polar lipid fractions was 92.2% and 7.8%, respectively. The nonpolar lipid compositions of lipid produced under optimum condition were 5.3% of free fatty acids, 6.8% of free sterols, 9.3% of partial glycerides and 72.0% of triglycerides. The major fatty acids of total lipid were 20.1% of palmitic acid, 21.6% of linoleic acid and 53.3% of oleic acid.

Partial Characterization of Allelopathic Substances in Sorghum Stem by Different Organic Solvents and pH (수수 줄기에 함유(含有)된 타감물질(他感物質)의 용매(溶媒)와 pH에 따른 특성구명(特性究明))

  • The toxic compounds of sorghum stem extracts were isolated by different organic solvents and pH, and characterized and quantified in terms of their inhibition of seed germination and seedling growth in Echinochloa colona(L.) Link and radish(Raphanus sativus L.). Sequential partitioning of stem extract with various organic solvents with increasing polarity showed that all fractions of hexane, ethyl ether, methylene chloride, ethyl acetate, and the aqueous remainder inhibited germination and seedling growth in E. colona. Of the five fractions, the ethyl ether fraction had the greatest inhibitory effect on E. colona. Further separation of the ethyl ether fraction at different pH(pH 2-11) showed that phytotoxic compounds were acidic. The result indicates that the phytotoxin present in the stem extract may be nonpolar and acidic.
