The social anxiety of nursing students verified differences according to the economic condition, satisfaction of major in nursing, and academic stress, and that there was a positive correlation between fear of positive evaluation (r=.45, p<.001), fear of negative evaluation (r=.29, p<.001) and test anxiety (r=.29, p<.001). This study is significant in that fear of evaluation and test anxiety of nursing students are verified to be factors affecting social anxiety. We suggest that a social anxiety intervention program be developed and applied for nursing students. Also, it is necessary secure a strategy to apply the intervention program by screening social anxiety of nursing students in advance.

  • This study examined the effects of reeducation of core basic nursing skills on competence, confidence and anxiety in nursing students. We collected the data from 176 2nd grade nursing students. Reeducation of core basic nursing skills was conducted from December 20th to 23rd, 2016. Data were analyzed by SPSS 21.0 program. As the result of reeducation, significant improvement was found in competence(t=-11.57, p<.001), confidence(t=-10.21, p<.001) and considerable decrease was recognized in anxiety(t=-4.76, p<.001). In conclusion, reeducation of core basic nursing skills can help students to improve their overall competence and confidence, and also to reduce their anxieties as they start their first clinical practice. Therefore we suggest that more systematic and continual reeducation of core basic nursing skills should be applied to each grade of nursing students who are facing their clinical practice in hospital

The participants were 161 nursing students in universities located in G province and C province. Data were collected from November 19 to December 15, 2018 through self reported structured questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise regression. Experience of nurses' incivility correlated positively with social anxiety and emotional labor. Social anxiety was positively correlated with emotional labor. Participants' experience of incivility and social anxiety explained 21.9% of variance in emotional labor among nursing students. The findings indicate that experience of nurses' incivility and social anxiety are important factors to be considered in working to reduce emotional labor. Therefore, systematic programs to effectively manage and response the incivility problems in clinical practice and reduce social anxiety level should be developed.
