Prior to the dispatch, support for money and housing issues is mainly provided. During the dispatch, the DOD level community is formed to strengthen relations between the soldiers and their families, check their children's academic achievements, etc. After returning to the military, the mental and physical health care for not only the soldiers but also their families is provided. • This study examined the mediating effect of parenting stress on the influence of self-differentiation of mothers in multicultural families on their learned helplessness. The study determined the correlation between the following variables: self-differentiation, learned helplessness, and the parenting stress of mothers in multicultural families. The study was conducted on mothers who are raising children in multicultural families and 193 cases of supplementary data were finally analyzed. The data derived from the survey was analyzed using the SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0 programs. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, the self-differentiation of mothers in multicultural families showed a negative effect on parenting stress and the mothers' learned helplessness, while parenting stress had a positive effect on the mothers' learned helplessness. Parenting stress was found to have a mediating effect on the relationship between the self-differentiation and the learned helplessness of mothers in multicultural families. This study suggests that the mothers of multicultural families may decrease parenting stresses and learned helplessness by increasing the level of self-differentiation in the context of cultural differences and adapting to new societies.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine how oral health literacy of mothers affect the oral health status of their preschool children. The subjects were 233 mothers and their preschool children who are between 5 and 6 years old. They were selected according to the convenience sampling method. The individual self-administered questionnaire was used for the mother's survey while the children were interviewed using structured questionnaire to examine their oral health status and behavior. According to study results, the number of decayed primary teeth and the number of decayed and filled primary teeth had a statistically significant negative correlation with the oral health literacy of the mother, the children's oral health knowledge, attitude and behavior (COHKAB), and the mother's oral health management behavior. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis was performed after including general characteristics variables, the COHKAB and the mother's oral health management behavior. Meanwhile, mother's oral health literacy had a statistically influence on children's oral health status. The higher the mother's oral health literacy level, the lower the number of decayed and filled primary teeth were. The findings suggest that efforts to improve the oral health status of preschool children should consider mother's oral health literacy as an important factor. Therefore, the effective intervention and education programs are necessary to enhance mother's oral health literacy.

  • This study was carried out as a preliminary study to analyze the effect of parenting attitudes on the career decision-making types of middle school students. We analyzed the mediating effect of self-efficacy to develop a program that can be implemented jointly at home and at school to help middle school students who are facing the Free Semester System in 2016 to form an ideal career decision-making type. To that end, a survey was conducted with 345 students attending a middle school located in Northern Seoul, and the 335 valid questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS v22. In the sociodemographic analysis, there was no difference in parenting attitudes between groups in terms of religion and family income. The democratic attitude of parents had the greatest impact on the rational career decision-making type, while the permissive attitude had a partial effect. The authoritarian attitude had no effect. Self-efficacy had a mediating effect in only the relationship between democratic parenting attitude and the rational career decision-making type. These findings imply that to help middle school students form a rational career decision-making type, intervention in variables other than self-efficacy is necessary in addition to parent education.

  • The study is to find out the influence of mother's and father's conflict resolution styles(aggressive and compromising) on adolescents' use of swear words. This study also investigates whether aggression has a mediated effect in terms of the relationship between mother's and father's conflict resolution styles and their children's use of swear words. To this end, self-report type of questionnaire was conducted to 570 students who attend at 6 different middle schools located in Gyeongnam Province. To the exclusion of incomplete and insincere answers, 477 were selected as the raw data of the research. The summarization of the results is as follows: First, the aggressive type of conflict resolution style with mothers has positive correlation with the students' use of swear words. When the conflict resolution style with mothers gets aggressive, their children's use of swear word increases accordingly. Second, it is confirmed that aggression has a mediated effect when it comes to teenagers' use of swear words triggered by mother's aggressive conflict resolution styles and father's aggressive conflict resolution styles. Therefore, if the conflict between children and parents is not appropriately resolved, the children's aggression accumulates and thereby children's use of swear words increases.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between the family relationship and the awareness of child abuse of parents with elementary and middle school children. This study also examines the mediating effect of parenting stress between the family relationship and awareness of child abuse. For this purpose, a questionnaire survey was conducted to school parents living in A metropolitan area and the 389 data were used for analysis. As a result of the analysis, their child abuse awareness showed that family relationship effected their awareness of child abuse positively and on parenting stress negatively. In addition, the partial mediating effect of parenting stress was proved between the family relationship and child abuse awareness. The results of this analysis signify that the family relationship is the important independent variable and parenting stress is the main mediating variable between the two variables. According to these analysis results, this study suggested that it is necessary to enhance family relations enhancement programs, child abuse prevention manual, and various parenting support services and strengthen the function of Health Family Support Center as a delivery system of family welfare services.
